I do excellent with old toys and my husband is just into vintage ephemera. We do flea markets on the weekends and eBay and he makes more money than working his 9 to 5 . He just left his job this week so we could do this full time. We pick up boxes of what people think are junk he does the research ( his favorite part ) and we help preserve our history. It’s something we both enjoy and when we go to estate sales we are a force to be reckoned with. ☺️love your channel. Happy hunting everyone.

Nona Yabizness , I liked reading this!
I’ve never ever worked a regular “ straight “ job, sounds like you have already did what most people find the hardest to do... commit to the “ junk slinger “ lifestyle 😃
Sounds like you have an expertise and know more then the people that are competing against you, that’s good
It’s good not to be to specialized
      I wish you the best

@@deadhorse1391 Thank you! I was in a car accident years ago and crushed my spine and I miss working so much. My husband has been laid off from 3 jobs in the last 11 years and it seems like the money he's making is nothing like it used to be sadly. Buying vintage ephemera and /or rescuing it from being destroyed is not only more enjoyable for us but allows us to make enough money to pay our bills , feed our habit of collecting and we meet such interesting people. I can also travel with my husband to help pay the bills and it allows me to feel like I belong to the world again.

I can't believe the things you find! I'm 65 and had Pez as a small child. Also played with those tin noisemakers. And the lights, oh my. If you had a yard sale with those items where I live you could make hundreds on your haul today. I love your enthusiasm and zest for life!

  • @NestingHaven

Haha love that, “make me an offer and that’s how much I’m asking.” Oh I loved that Charlie Chaplin patch! I always think pez dispensers look so cool, but the candy is disgusting lol I was always forced to be April too 🤣 holy smokes! The noise maker box is AWESOME! That’s why I love yard sales better because you can ask about the history of the items. 😊

Nice Score on the Noma lights, nice when they have their boxes! I picked up today at a yard sale a nice dresser set in its box w 2 hair brushes, hand mirror, comb and a matching wind up alarm clock (1st time finding one with a matching clock) all for $10. bargains are still found everywhere so keep looking people!

Renee, watching both you and Taco sell at the flea market, no wonder people seek you out for all those dollar and bundle deals. I know people are looking for steals at a flea market, but it would not hurt them to pay more. I really hope you run across a mother load one day that people will have to pay up for. Good hunting!

Oh, wow, vintage Christmas...doesn’t get any better! The PEZ puppets, I would encourage you to strongly research. I have been so shocked at the prices that SOME are worth. I have a basket full from my grandson’s growing up years, only 25 years old, but there’s STAR WARS in there. I will definitely research those. Good video! Great finds! Oh, and I have a huge G. I. Joe Jeep and camping set for the full size dolls(like 11 1/2”) and I haven’t even been able to sell at my yard sales for $3.00! I think you’re right, they have fallen out of favor. Speaking of vintage toys...I have a collection of Smith-Miller Trucks from the late 40's-50's. They are all metal...cast Aluminum/sheet steel. The top one is a hook-ladder...the tractor is a Mack, complete with the bulldog hood ornament. The complete rig is 3 feet long. Check out "Smith-Miller" on line. The originals are not that common...some repros. are being manufactured...and are they expensive. My collection was never played with.

    Enjoyed the video!
I think you did well, I don’t go to many yard sales anymore used to but I do better buying at the flea market and auctions.
I have got good stuff at yard sales. One thing I learned is to always ask if they have anything else. I always am looking for tools, knives and military stuff and you would be amazed at the number of people that I got great stuff from but they didn’t put it out.
Lots to pez dispensers, used to be if it didn’t have feet was made before 1987 but now they make classic footless ones. There are sites on line that will help you find out about them.
I found a rare older Creature of the Black Lagoon one and sold it for over $200
Often hear that eBay was started with selling a pez, not true, made up story to gin up interest.
The noise makers were great and you certainly bought them right , doubt any are “ old” but you will do well with them
I look for the old wood alarm rattles, they used them in the WWI trenches to warn about gas , also on ships. Some can be fancy wood
I saw a primitive one today, little rough so I passed now I wish I hadn’t.
Best GI Joe I ever bought was an older one I got at a Catholic Church sale that someone made a monk cassock for!
I pushed the swords to plowshare angle
Pretty unusual Brother GI Joe 😃

Here’s a question for you, how do you get the musty smell out of paper. My husband found a suitcase full of beautiful ephemera in a suitcase in his Mother’s basement. What do we do! It smells!

    • @PaperandMoose
      @PaperandMoose  5 лет назад +1

I leave it (away/covered from the elements) outside for a few days. You can also put baking soda in the bottom of a plastic bin/container & put an elevated tray on top & place the ephemera on the tray. Seal the container and let it sit in there for a few days. That should help with the smell!
