  • I installed an entire ignition upgrade kit on my series 2 Rx8. It runs much better and has slightly noticeable power gains!

      Sorry for the late response i didnt see your reply. I dont know what website to buy them from because i got them off of my other s1 rx8. The wires are magnacore r100’s and the coils are np boosted. You can probably google them and find websites that sell them. They work great, I definitely recommend them!

    hey so I just got my Mazda in March and two days after I got it the clutch went out and had to tow it home. I’ve put a new master and slave cylinder and new spark plugs. I haven’t done the ignitions packs like u did yet. I didn’t know those came out lol. I gave it a new oil change & new oil filter. But im having trouble bleeding the clutch, it’s way better then when it broke down but it not drivable good so im kinda stuck on what else could be wrong or where else to bleed it.

      Hey Shaylah. Sorry to hear about your new rx8 problems. Rotaries should have their ignition system changed every 2-3 years because they fire alot more than piston engines. You should buy the NGK wire kit and replace the coil packs if possible. It will make your engine run way smoother! Remove the catalytic converter also if you dont have emission testing, it lets the engine run easier and cooler. If you have any other questions let me know!

      Also if you are having trouble with the clutch still, check the clutch pedal bracket because the welds break and they need to be replaced. If you are still having issues then it could be air in your clutch line still. Good luck!

    Another thing is maybe check the SSV valve and clean off the Carbon it may be another reason Why she’s sluggish

      I just did some research and i think your right. The previous owner didnt maintain the car at all. I found out after i bought it that he ran synthetic oil for 6k mile intervals, used 87 gas, never changed the plugs/coils/wires, and didnt premix. My rx8 might have alot of carbon built up in the intake and vacuum lines. Ill have to go through the intake and clean it as well as the ssv. Is it possible/beneficial to permanently remove the ssv like people do to their rx7’s?

    Hey, i have the same chugging rough idle on my series 2 rx8. Did replacing the ignition system work in getting rid of that?

      It seemed to go away after i installed it but i noticed that it came back a day later. I know its common for rx8’s to have chugging noises but mine is pretty loud at idle every 5 seconds or so and it doesnt sound normal. I havent looked further into it yet so i dont know what could cause it.

      @@seanhaight3939 you wouldn't happen to have had your compression checked have you? I'm worried sick about mine lol

      No but it has 49k miles and has really good hot starts so im sure its good. I premix oil in my gas to help keep the apex seals lubricated and from getting jammed by carbon build up. Alot of rotarys fail because they arent driven hard and carbon builds up on the exhaust ports. The guy i bought mine from was a college kid that wasnt into cars and just daily drove it. idk if he ever drove it hard so maybe our exhaust ports have excessive carbon build up?

      Had the same issue with mine and it ended up being a bad maf. Could be a number of different things, unfortunately including low compression

      Yeah ill have to clean the maf and see if that helps. Hopefully it cleans up the idle a bit and gives me more hp and better mpg!

    hi. i m from cyprus i hawe a rx8 2008 years
    my car is wery slow going between the 2000...5000 rotation?
    and also when stop and off / restart again doing to much smoke 1 or 2 minute? is it related spark plug and
    ignition coil?

      I think you might have small a leak from your coolant seal. Your engine could need a rebuild because if it doesnt start up quickly when its hot then your apex seals are almost worn out or you have a compression leak somewhere from a coolant seal. Thats just my suggestion! Good luck!

    R3 shouldn't Need ignition upgrade🤔

    • @seanhaight3939
      @seanhaight3939  5 лет назад +2

      raulduke85
      The r3 has the same ignition as the standard rx8’s. They should be replaced every 3 years no matter what. It fires 3 times more than piston engines and they burn out quickly. The spark plugs get carbon build up on them.

      @@seanhaight3939 i see, i still have my First gen. 2004 rx8, but since i live in Europe, the r3 was never distributed here: but I thought they solved the problem putting 4 upgraded ignition coils, Just like they did over Years with the starter motor.. r2 has the 2kw, wile your car should have a 2.2 kW 1

    • @seanhaight3939
      @seanhaight3939  5 лет назад +1

      raulduke85
      Yeah the s2 has the upgraded starter and ignition coils but the engines sparks so much that they start to get weak after a few years so its beneficial to replace the plugs and wires every 2-3 years and check the coils to see if they are arcing and burning out. So much maintenance for these little cars lol
