well Lorna shore is a diffrent kind of heavy! With all the melodies and synth sounds, they make it so its not TOO heavy! I went back to old trivium albums the other day, now that's what is heavy too me... because i couldn't take more than 3 songs, even tho i love their older stuff

But then you hold up Trivium as a comparison, so idk wtf you mean now. Instrumentation wise Trivium is nowhere NEAR as heavy as Lorna, but even in terms of mix/vibe...they're like a tinnier sounding AILD. A lot of their older albums could almost be played on rock radio. So I am confused .

Lorna Shore adding Will Ramos is the best thing to happen to not only deathcore, but metal as a whole, in a VERY long time. Wow. They just can't miss.
They have developed a great sound with Will, and I really like it but LS with CJ has not yet been topped for me

Will Ramos seems to be 1 in a million. One of the best metal vocalists ever
Honestly, I'd give Will the crown. Much as I love Dickie Allen, Ben Duerr, Kyle Anderson, Phil Bozeman, and many, many others... Wills talent is transcendent.
And to top it all off he does it with minimal to no effort or straining on his vocal cords
@@stevenjam7119 To be fair, most of them do, but Will just seems to be able to push himself harder and further than the others. His clarity is incredible as well. Some vocalists, like George Fisher or John Gallagher for instance, have brutal sounding voices, but not one tenth of the clarity of Ben Duerr, let alone Will.

Lorna Shore really has it all. Beautiful orchestral stuff, insane guitar solos, technical yet catchy riffs, and so many br00tal moments

Let's not go past the fact that they managed to write a genuinely uplifting deathcore song with a melodic, catchy, and memorable chorus...WHILE keeping it just as brutal as we expect from their genre and Lorna Shore in particular.

Can we just appreciate that little slide that happens during the chorus during the "I am the one" and the "I'll touch the sun" bits? Like, it soars high and then slides up really fast, almost like the notes are double-jumping and, dude, it's such a nice little touch. Great musical lyricism, like the music is straining to reach higher just like Icarus.
Edit: you can hear it really well right at the instrumental bit from 5:32 to 5:45
I'm not into Deathcore nor the Death growl/screams. However, Lorna Shore has given me a new appreciation for the genre and vocal technique. Hats off to this group, they've made a fan out of a NeoSoul/R&B/Jazz lady.
Not death core fan at all anymore but these guys are talented and fun. Weirdly calmly catchy for the genre. It's nice
I know, totally different genres but to get a new Polyphia song after almost 3 years and this absolute monster of a track from Lorna in the same week. Just insane. My neighbors won't know wtf is going on in my house when I'm alternating between Sun//Eater and Polyphia's Playing God. A mixture of salsa dancing and an exorcism I would guess

I'm not going to deny the talent from the Polyphia dude and that other famous guy, but man is that genre just GARBAGE to me. It's terrible. It's "impressive" but also spoiled milk in the hot sun, grade A boring, doucheberry popsicle, stinky wimpy buttfarts garbage.

That shock factor mid breakdown just killed me and then by the sheer necromancy of how brutal this song was I was returned to life XD then they killed me again with the final breakdown, my heart can't take these bangers
I think necromancy might be the word to describe between breakdowns forever for me.
That snap into the first breakdown was masterful. I was entranced in the melody, then cracked with a baseball bat from behind.

what i love most is how these drums sound, the kick is cutting through everything like butter and that sidechain on the guitar for that super thight section was insane!
Ok, symphonics are TOP NOTCH, BEAUTIFUL, gives me chills along with everything else, and I will say I'm glad Will didn't do the snarls this time, the snarls need some time apart, other than that, beautiful, chef's kiss.
agreed, there is definitely too much of a good thing, Will does some sick snarls on To the Hellfire, and Recreant cover he and nik did, and that's it. It's enough to give it a clear personality and flavor with out being too over the top, i.e putting it everywhere on every song he's touched, because he's clearly a talanted vocalist so no need to rely on something cheesy when he can do pretty much anything needed to fit the song
This is the first deathcore band since Suicide Silence that I have genuinely liked most of their songs. Nothing out there sounds like this band right now.
Hopefully they will become the new suicide silence because deathcore needs to be popularized by them like suicide silence did

@@evacody1249 I would argue that they have somewhat of an unique sound. My problem is that they don't really experiment with it, a lot of songs end up sounding the same due to pretty similar riffs and structures... I still gladly listen to them from time to time but I'd personally lose a lot of the breakdowns and honestly, tone down the complexity of the drums a little bit (you're hearing this from a drummer lol)

Hell Seven Spires new albums has a number songs that go far heavier then this and style keep the symphonic sound even at the heaviest.
Symphonic music in metal music is not new or different or unique.
Lowkey, this song has 2 breakdowns. And both of them are priceless.
Now that we have lost Black Dahlia Murder, Power Trip, and Children of Bodom I am happy there is a band like Lorna Shore stepping up their game. Anaal Nathrakh and Exhumed have been killing it for years but we need some newer guys.

I really really enjoyed this, maybe it doesn't have that initial shock value of the Hellfire breakdown but I think it was better all around, and the drums were at the top of their game this time.
Whatever Lorna Shore puts out, it’s a masterpiece. The atmosphere they set is truly extraordinary! One of my favourite bands for sure!
I absolutely love the direction Lorna is going with will. Between the And I Return To Nothingness EP and Sun//eater, I get massive heavy metal boss fight music from it and I absolutely love it.
The drummer must have the legs of a Greek god, like seriously the man is relentless on those kicks. I wonder how many days it takes for him to recover after just one playthrough 😂

Lorna Shore has become one of my all time favorite bands even though I usually dont even listen to deathcore. Theres something about these guys that draws me in. Its crazy how comforting their music is to me despite being so brutal.

been working on a sun eater cover in VR on drums using a recreated replica of archys kit. I did to the hell fire and into the abyss covers already and i can confirm lorna shore is the only band that literally breaks my body but then again..i dont have drum heads so..

Vocalist Jonny Davy and both guitarists, Tony Sannicandro and Al Glassman did a side project called "Serpent of Gnosis" with The Black Dahlia Murder bassist Max Lavelle and Deeds of Flesh drummer Darren Cesca with 1126 Records (i have it on vinyl! ) in 2019. Also, last year in spring, JFACs record company (Metal Blade) said they were in the studio! So Um... yeah!

Honestly, chilling and talking with Will at a bar show in Jersey was one of my favorite moments. Dude is so nice, he spoke to every fan and never once was mad about it, took pictures with everyone (including myself), I can’t speak highly enough of his personality as well as his voice. Will jumping on the mic for my homies band during a breakdown will be my favorite video for all time.

Putting the amazing music aside for a moment: I love that they went in a different lyrical direction with this song. The concept of Icarus is so much fun to play with, and 'eating the sun' just paints a whole ass museum full of artwork in my mind.

Listen to Godmaker, Throne of Worms, FVNERAL MOON and Darkest Spawn and, if you haven’t already, To The Hellfire those are from all the major eras and are all pretty good bangers. You get to hear how different each era is as the vocalists change

With almost anything you see generational talents that transcend and usher in a new era to their respective fields. Will is that guy. I know some people aren’t into it but I wonder what his cleans sound like cause he’s crazy talented. After seeing the video with the camera down his throat and seeing it’s just all skill. Damn I’m super impressed. I don’t even want to start with the drummer.
