power metal was a great album, You could hear how heavy they were to be in the future, God I miss those boys
And the funny thing is that power metal sounded more thrashy compared to glam. Seems like they had the appearance of glam but the music was a lot heavier then what other glam sounded like.
@@Sasquatch33 well said, Exactly! Was a pink corvette with a mean ass borla exhaust lol
90's Pantera = F*** Yeah!!! 🔥🤟🏻
2020's Pantera = "Halftera"... meh...
80's Pantera = 🍑🍆🍒 🌈
when you hear pantera you know pantera
Bro you need a talk show or podcast or something on the radio, I would listen to that shit every day
You look like if a cartoonist was asked to draw a zombie pirate Rex Brown
I guess that's loads better than "brain-dead meth addict" which is what I normally get. 😂😂😂

Projects in the jungle had one of the best shred songs in it and is my favorite Pantera record ever
Power metal was awesome and dime was diamond still on CFH albums name but he was going by Dimebag since his friends started calling him that around and after the CFH era
The 80s albums are criminally underrated. I really dig them and it’s shocking how talented they were at a young age. Power Metal is one of my favorite Pantera albums and Projects in the Jungle is nothing to sneeze at.
I love Projects in the Jungle !! 🤟
Rip pantera
especially when you been following them all the way since the 80s
i’ve heard of this many times, but you by far, have explained this the best. keep it up man
I did know this..but you tell it better!! Love you stuff bro!! Never change!
1984’s Projects in the Jungle is a solid album.
I described Projects In The Jungle as the best Def Leppard album never actually released by Def Leppard.
And that isn't an insult. I genuinely like Def Leppard.
Great video, actually surprising!
Didn’t begin their ……

@@aaronrealerx “their”is referring to people. “There” is a location or something that isn’t a person.
I honestly only discovered this when I had a song of mine played on the radio and before my song they said "up next some old pantera" and the song played and i was like " WTF THIS ISNT PANTERA " lmao
Project in the jungle was a pretty awesome album. Love your videos bud.
dude you´re freaking Rex Brown
Never sold out , just got heavier and heavier... i remember waiting on each album come out , miss those days . Thanks bro for your info
For a while before Phil (who was nicknamed briefly PHILCORE) joined and continuing on thur the first album they released with Phil named Power Metal the other 3 were nicknamed:
DIAMOND DARRELL
REX FROM TEX BROWN
BRICKWALL VINNIE PAUL
It was slayer that really got them to change there sound and appearance
It was phil. He was from that new Orleans metal scene. He pushed them go heavier and heavier during their career.
Yep, Phil and also Kerry from Slayer. There’s old video footage of Darrell and Kerry talking shop and hanging out playing guitar.
No it wasn’t Phil came into the band and they didn’t care for the appeal of spandex nor zebra print tops and decided to just be there selfs
Primal Concrete Sledge has the best quote of almost any song ever. "The man of 1000 retirements will always be the first to tell you when to quit"
I’m admittedly a glam metal fan in general and collect it on cassette tapes (everyone you have my permission to make fun of me below). I have the 4 Pantera albums in the glam style and they took me about 6 years to all track down. Projects In The Jungle and I Am The Night are my favourites of the four. Great albums.
I am the night is still their best
i have that exact shirt
those first three albums are some of the best from the 80’s, I’d always spin them after a long day at school
Wish i looked like you brother, you look awesome, like Rex Brown
Once Phil and the H arrived on stage. They turned into a completely different band 🤘🏻
More like "when Phil introduced them go Exhorder and stole their sound"...
when I hear Pantera I immediately think of plantera the terraria boss
I'm pretty sure he was still known as Diamond Darrell when Far Beyond Driven came out. He officially changed to Dimebag after the album was released. I could be wrong though 🤷♂️
Love your videos bud 🤘
He changed it after cowboys because it was too similar to Diamond David Lee Roth. Phil coined the nickname Dimebag because he would go to Darrels house and ask him if he had any bud. He said Dime always had a dimebag and the name stuck.
Far Beyond Driven is the first album where he is credited under dimebag
I actually listened to some of their glam metal stuff. It's not that bad, in fact, the song, Death Trap, from their 4th album is on my workout playlist.
Power Metal is a great record. I don't know why they won't at least acknowledged that one
Phil Anselmo set da energy fo PanterA👊👊👊
Ngl whenever I hear pantera all I can think about is the video of Dimebag playing guitar with the guy on the street and then it cutting to Dimebag eating pizza.
They already do glam with phil and it’ts such awesome
Kids at work act tuff to me , .....Walk .
And great Southern trend kill ,101 PROFF,
Reinventing the steel yes they do have other songs than walk 😆
Who you talking to? Pantera fans know this!
You'd be surprised.
Man I didn't know rex was on youtube
sus
Digging your Metallica "Doris" shirt.
The first album with Phil Anselmo was "hair metal" too though.
Camouflage shorts ❤
I Think He'd Forgot Skinhead To Pantera Is Skinheads As Well
You forgot the part where their sound and look was pretty much taken from Exhorder.
Most of the heavier metal bands of the early 90s looked like that. It was just the style of the time.
There's a tad more to that story.
GlamterA is God tier hair metal and I'm tired of pretending it's not
I'm guessing it's a hold out of the pre internet era of information, but at this stage I don't see why they don't embrace it. It's great stuff, more people should listen to it, and it's so obviously part of the evolution of the band that it just seems silly to ignore it.
Over and out glam or not the heaviest shit from the 80s
Just tried to listen to Metal Magic. Felt so wrong
Exhorder
did you go to the Milwaukee show?
No I'm in Pittsburgh but I missed that one too
The last glam album had Phil though
Yup. It's still in the "don't tell people we made this" group even though it's awesome.
@@HawKNLoaD I agree
@@HawKNLoaD I found you about a week ago, just scrolling. I'm glad I did. It's definitely good to see another metalhead that enjoys Misfits beyond the Danzig era
@@RainbowGothQueen Thanks bro. Graves era is such a good set of melodies man. People are a bit fanatical about Dazig himself, but good music is good music
@@HawKNLoaD I love Danzig too. Lol
Speaking of pantera for some reason you kinda look like Rex brown
I get that a lot
@@HawKNLoaD damn seriously? Well it’s true
Yeah there's nothing wrong with it either. Men go through maturity phases. And they loved music from the beginning they changed the music industry and they became the biggest metal band ever in history. My opinion
I think glamtera was great. However as a fan of hair metal and heavy metal, it's hard for me not to like both.
Cmon man power metal was glam and had Phil in it. Dimebag was still referred to as diamond darrell until FBD.
Yeah I know all that. I didn't say Phil started at CFH, but surface level, "I love Walk" level fans probably don't know anything about it. Tough to do a super detailed history in 60 secs. I gotta roll over a few things sometimes.
dude, Glam or not , The guitar work on Power Metal was fucking amazing, so was the drums, without these days there wouldn't have been a FBD or CFH Its a natural transition to heavy metal getting a screamer like Anselmo but NOT without the glam days, glam days were necessary at that time of rock music . true Pantera fans gotta embrace the spandex days as well, lol
@@SENORxMUERTO I might be able to get leaving the Glaze records out, but I don't know why Power Metal isn't included in the retrospective. Dime was God tier almost as soon as he picked up the guitar. It's all great stuff
@@HawKNLoaD
It's because most of Power Metal was written in 1986 before Philip joined the band. This is why CFH feels so different, it's the first album written front to back by all 4 guys as a unit.
What people fail to realize is Pantera was consistently dropping OLD songs from the setlist. When PM came out in 1988 they dropped 99% of the Terry Glaze stuff. When CFH came out they dropped most PM songs. What I'm saying is from 1986 to 1994ish they were constantly dropping old songs in favor of new ones that better fit their style. Their style was evolving and the setlist was updated to represent their new sounds. Even CFH was almost entirely omitted from the setlist post 1994. The title track stayed of course but Primal Concrete & Domination were the only other two CFH tracks rotating through the set on a regular basis whereas FBD for example had 7+ songs rotating through the set.
Basically they didnt flip a switch in January of 1990. It was much more gradual and organic than people realize. As their sound evolved, so did the setlist.
@@integrity101 Yeah the short nature of the video, I guess, gives the implication that it was a hard switch, but I'm presenting it as "How he's remembered now" vs "Glamtera in the 80s". If that makes any sense. It's for surface level metalheads.
Everyone knows this by now ,l
The only good Pantera is Glam Metal Pantera!
I Am The Night!
SORELY missed band 100% GROOVE METAL
Except they had an incredible virtuoso guitar player, with compositions we're unlikely to see again, accompanied by other 1st class musicians who when combined created a style of music that is still being copied 25 years later!!! Other than that, nothing special .... Charrrr!!!!
🤘
Pantera should be in the Big Four! Not Anthrax! 💯
They were better than Mötley Crüe.
Who cares what a band was doing when they were young teenagers. I'd much rather have a band get heavier like Pantera did then the sellout route of so many like Metallica took
Who cares
I know the brothers love of KISS but I think it's way way more there love of Van Halen. Diamond Daryl....? Diamond Dave..
Hope they don't go glam on the 18th🤘
No duh
