I have this box set. I came home from work one day and to my surprise, sat a box on the front porch. I came in and opened it, I was so happy and surprised. My uncle knew that I was a huge Pantera fan and he brought it and surprised me. Ya gotta love when stuff like this appears! I actually still wear the Puke party T-shirt!
The second I heard Cowboys from Hell I was hooked! All these years later and I’m still hooked! Not one guy in Pantera was replaceable. Still the greatest band ever!
It pains me to realize just how old we have all gotten if you saw Pantera in your primed youth. I saw them twice, was supposed to be 3x had they not cancelled a show in Austin one evening as I stood out in the freeze only not to be let in to the damned bar after all. Pantera has two of its founding members dead and gone, rip the brothers Vinnie and Dimebag Darrell. I cannot stress how absolute legends these two were, they changed metal, that is incredible. As for Phil, he put heart and soul into shows, he is more of a teddy bear than not. Phil’s vocals are amazingly good on most albums, then he sort of stopped trying later on. Overall I can remember the excitement I had going to Pantera shows, the lights cutting out, the roar of the crowd, and the onslaught of riffs, drum kicks, bass and screams. The mosh pit for Pantera was second to none. They were a force I feel like I almost only just saw yesterday and then vanished... much like life will appear to have done when we are all long gone and dusted.
Thank you too Phil!! If it t'weren't for y'all I wouldn't have gotten to see & hear THEE greatest band of all time nor THEE greatest guitarist of all time!! RIP DDA!! Very much respect for you guys!!
