      @@J7Jase I can confirm the "limited" playthrough is hard and you are mostly tempted to grind a bit just to overcome an obstacle in the story. I was stuck in a loop of the first Lucavi battle with no extra save file and had to play the same battle over and over again until I got out of that horrible loop. It was my first playthrough and learned the game the hard way.

      I have done it, it is amazing. Some chapter 1 & 2 battles can be challenging. But eventually it is also easy. By now I do a “nuzlocke” run where Item is completely banned and reviving is completely banned, meaning that if someone dies, I lose that character. Also no random battles are allowed, straight to red dots. Haven’t been able to beat the game in this way yet my latest run I lost at the final battle against gafgarion.

    My starting party in my recent playthrough is knights/monks, a black mage, and a thief. A knight and a thief is focused on stealing good equipment and gils, my black mage used for quick KOs to enemies with good jobs to get their skills to lessen my grind, killing units that have no value in stealing equipment/skill crystals and secondary skills for debuffs to enemies for easy grinding or buffs for my team. While the rest are focused on healing/reviving and tanking during my grinds. So my party is focused on hard grinding xD

    Mystics have pulled me out of some harry situations when fighting early game mages. Silence and blind can help out quite a bit. I also love equiping early game knights with a crossbow. Thay can make the first fight with Wiegraph easier if you break his sword. Crossbows gives you a good two or three tries before he gets close, if you are careful
    MP Break on early game mages is helpful too. I tried using Black Mages early game, but their high faith meant they were getting wiped out by mages early on, for me at least. For me, there isn't many things early game that is more satisfying than when an Enemy mage's spell is canceled, after a charge, because they have No MP, or are silenced.

    I always pick up rend speed and rend power on 1-2 characters for grinding. The Knight class is basically required in the first few battles, so you aren’t going out of your way to get them.
    Simply reduce the battle down to 1 enemy, use rend speed to get his speed down to 1 or 2, then grind out whatever else you need. Rend power is a little less important, but you can use it in your own characters, if you have them beating on each other. I use the same concept for stealing. The rend abilities are Low percentage, but using them along with dual wield gives you 2 chances at it.

    My best starting and kinda was having a female with the best zodiac compatible with mine (I normally rock Pisces) and have her as my main support for Ramza. I normally use Two magic units, two physical and Ramza for most of my starting comps.
    I ussually work the Magic characters into Summoner to learn the Half MP skill (God Bless JP glitch), them normally keep them both Summoners as I use the female one with Time Magic for Haste and stuff, and the male one with probably Black Magic just to have some cheap damaging spells.
    The physical DPSs vary from run to run, but I normally gravitate in the jobs to make them as a Dragoon and Samurai.

    Back then, I always ran this party in the Ps1 version:
    Ramza as a Monk...but then later becomes a broken dual wielding Monk.
    1 Ninja that also had Chemist skills and throwing ability of a Chemist.
    1 Female Black Mage who also used either Math skills or Samurai skills depending on how I was feeling.
    1 Knight that usually acts like a Standalone tank for my mages. This Knight also has dual wield so if the first rend ability misses...there will be another chance. Sometimes I make this Knight a Bulky Samurai with Knight abilities.
    1 Female White Mage who pretty much acts like support....giving the team Buffs and heals when necessary. This also includes Time Magic.
    1 Samurai that would often use Geomancy in late game but in early game be just a Dodge tank.
    1 Extra Duel wielding Monk in case I needed more firepower but most of the time Ramza just carries on his own. This Monk also acts as my thief too for late game items.

    Always keep in mind of the Ramza solo fight against Wiegraf. If you make Ramza a squishy mage, like me, this battle can and will brick wall your progress. I was able to nuke Wiegraf with, if I remember correctly, two Titans, while Ramza desparately auto-potions himself to stay alive. This took me what I could only describe as "too many times".

    • @J7Jase
      @J7Jase  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes good point however, I made a video on how to defeat Wiegraf and it depends on how you build your mage too. A Chameleon robe and Arithmeticks/Math Skill Secondary can handle the battle quite well.

    • @ArkVogel
      @ArkVogel 3 месяца назад

      That battle is VERY cheese-able if you come prepared.
      Ninja Ramza (mace dual wield) with Mettle (tailwind, focus), First Strike, Concentration and Teleport.
      Use teleport to run from Wiegraf while using Tailwind to increase your speed every turn until you hit 50, thus giving you 5 turns to Weigraf’s 1. Then use Focus to increase ATK to 99 (also doesn’t hurt to get 100 bravery via Steel). Now you can go in and one-shot the bastard along with Belias and all three minions before they can even move.
      Yeah I hate this battle so much.

    • @J7Jase
      @J7Jase  Год назад +1

      In most cases no just because males have more PA than females and females have more MA than males. (In most situations) While Bravery is also a factor for Katana, Knight Sword, and Unarmed damage, PA also is.
      Also MA for Magic too.
      Now if the males and females had the same exact PA, MA Bravery and Faith they will do the same damage. As long as the zodiac signs of enemy/targets are neutral so no damage decrease, increase and also no elemental bonus. Hope that helps

    I consider the entirety of Chapter 1 to be a giant tutorial, with the game actually starting at Chapter 2.
    With that said I like to dismiss the first 3 male units and change the first 3 female units into Black Mages and just speed through Chapter 1 with them and whatever you want Ramza to be.
    Then when Chapter 2 comes, Ladd, Lavian, and Alicia take the spot of the 3 male units that were dismissed, then I dismiss the 3 female units and start using Ladd, Lavian, and Alicia along with Ramza and whatever unique unit I want as the 5th.
    My head canon for dismissing the generics you get at the beginning is to not involve them in the game's story as they are just generics.
    But every character you get after that (including Boco) is now one way or another involved in the story and Ramza's shenanigans.
    Also, the unit ordering is just nicer and their zodiac sign doesn't really make anything difficult. But my Ramza has always been Aries.

    I'm doing the "5 job fiesta" challenge. I rolled Knight, Squire, Summoner, Mediator, and Dancer. I'm thinking having a male and 3 females, (Ramza - Bartz/Squire, Male - Galuf/Knight, Female 1 - Reina/Summoner?, female 2 - Faris/Mediator?, female 3 - Krille/Dancer?) (The ? is because I'm not sure which one should be those jobs for the females.) With this in mind, what would be the best zodiac signs for my team? I'm assuming Ramza should be Capricorn for the compatibility with the bosses. Also, for the generic units, (since I'll have to create 4 units so I can rename them), what would be the best Brave and Faith starting stats each of them should have?

    • @J7Jase
      @J7Jase  7 месяцев назад +1

      For the Generic units I would go with for the male Taurus/Virgo and for the females, Taurus, Virgo or Cancer.
      Just not a male Cancer since that will be worst compatibility.
      But very nice playthrough! I dig it completely.
      For Starting Bravery and Faith its luck of the draw but higher Bravery is almost always better besides move find item/treasure hunter.
      I would say if you can get both like high to mid 60s of Bravery, high to mid 60s for Faith (If you want them to be a mage.)
      That would be awesome starting.

      It isn't bad but I'm not sure if I'd call it the best but definitely viable

    Step 1 - Unlock & Spam Accumutale
    Step 2 - Unlock Samurai & Blade Grasp
    Step 3 - Win

      Not necessarily true. While Blade Grasp/Shirahadori is strong vs basic physical attacks it won't protect you vs the unique knight skills and of course magic.

      It depends on the enemy type or battle. As vs ranged they are quite vulnerable

      archers are fun until you face a random knight with a shield and cloak and 8% chance to land a hit on him 🥲

    I would say for a small bit of extra grinding, then I would go with a Time Mage over Black Mage. You could always have Black Magic as secondary, because having early game access to haste, slow, and stop will make the early game very easy.
