Honestly, I don't know why everyone wanted a bird so bad this DLC pack. Next pack is going to be an animal-focused pack rather than a scenario one and it's closer to christmas, when more people are likely to buy it and when it's best to market it, so it makes sense that birds will be coming then, not now. I feared that we wouldn't have a walktrough exhibit animal at all this time, as last time we only got the horned viper.
A second bat is just perfect for the game and its message of conservation! We have five species in the Ursus genus and another five in the Panthera genus, which is great, and people don't get upset at "another bear" or "another cat". Bats, however, are some of the most diverse and widespread mammals, as well as the animals that play some of the most important roles in their respective ecosystems, but people just generalize them as "bat" as if they're not all unique. Planet Zoo is doing a great job by putting bats under the spotlight and I fear that content creators going on and on about birds when it's not yet time to add them will keep the main audience from getting Frontier's message that bats, especially endangered ones, are overdue some urgently needed attention.
    In this essay I will-

Flying foxes are called that because they have a narrow, canine-looking face, so some of them do look quite a lot like foxes. It's been a colloquial name for them since about the 1750s.

I always wanted to have a flying fox in the game but I’m a little bit disappointed too because i was so sure that we would get a lorikeet in this dlc

I hoped we'd get a bird too. Maybe it just isn't working in testing. All species in the walkthrough exhibits have the same pattern of flight, kind of all over the place rather than direct lines like birds.

Flying Fox. If you look at its face it looks like a fox. Kinda but it still does.

I would love birds for the walkthrough exhibit like the Galah or the superb parrot maybe even the Nankeen kestrel

I like these as they're not as much an Australian animal but more a native of the surrounding islands of New Guinea & Indonesia where there are more concentrated populations.
As for birds, I'm happy we actually have stuff that's NOT tied to aviaries. We have quite alot of unique birds in the game already that I barely see anyone use! My issue with having aviaries walk throughs is that unless the birds are of a significant size they absolutely pointless for players who don't have the graphic capabilities to see them - already on the low end it's hard to see any of the existing exhibit bugs, snakes, amphibians & lizards! While I'd absolutely love to see Twany Frog Mouths, Barn Owls, Toucans, Birds of Paradise ect they'd make more sense if Frontier took the existing small exhibits, changed them from glass to wire (maybe set it up as a block of 4 together or something) and put the smaller birds in the game that way.

Absolutely would love birds, feels like a waste of the large walkthrough if they don't come sooner or later. But I understand this reskin more than most, they had to create a whole unique set of assets that are only useable by a single species. From that standpoint alone I'm okay with it. If we got another cat or bear, I'd be raging.

Honestly the only issue I have with these bats is that in game they appear to be the same size as the Egyptian fruit bats, when in reality spectacled flying foxes are about twice their size.
As for the name “flying fox” it really just comes from the fact that their heads look like a fox’s head

I think they are bigger than egyptian fruit bats. I think that in the trailer we can see flying foxes and egyptian fruit bats in the same exhibit because you can see bats of two sizes hanging in the background. Or maybe Frontier added baby flying foxes...

Actually It is not the same animal with different skin. Flying foxes are much bigger than egyptian fruit bat and the way they fly is very different. It hipes me because they have the wingspan of a macaw or a hawk and they fly in a similar way. I would prefer a feathered flying animal, but I think It is a good animal to see. And yeah the name IS because its head looks like the Fox face.☺️

I do love birds, id like birds. But if this was the only pack, with a flying bird, would the community be happy with obly one flying bird species? Or would they feel robbed of more birds? Are we ever going to be happy? How many bird species is enough bird species?
I really like these as an exhibit. Im just grateful we dont have another exhibit tank insect, and we have something that's more dynamic and interesting.

We 100% do. We got five bears, four great apes, three canids in the Canis genus alone and yet we only have two fruit bats, even though bats make up 21% of all mammal species.

Why bats? Are they somehow more conservation friendly than small birds? Really weird decision, I don’t think anyone really wanted bats than little birds in large exhibition cages
