These were all animals I had on my wishlist including a larger bat. Admittedly was expecting lorikeets for the walkthrough but the flying fox could be seen as frontier practicing flight for larger birds

So excited for this pack! Finally a proper Oceania pack!
Yes, some species of Kiwi do indeed dig burrows! They use their strong legs & clawed toes & can have up to 50 of them dotted about their territory!
My best guess for the new plants are:
The fern plants look like silver fern/Ponga (endemic to NZ & often used on sporting team flags/clothing/equipment etc.)
The spiky palm-looking tree looks like a cabbage tree (another plant endemic to NZ but has been quite popular overseas, so now can be commonly found around the globe) I do hope they included one that is flowering if it is some sort of cabbage tree, as they look even better in flower.
The largest palm looks like a Nikau palm to me, but there could be several similar-looking species or different names for the same species around Oceania.
Not sure about the flowers (they look familiar but no clue about the name as I'm not a flower person LOL), grasses, or trees.
I really like that they seem to have included a few of the Oceania cultures to represent the building pieces rather than just one, it's a very nice touch.
I'm not much of a bat or flying fox fan personally, so I'm also 'meh' on more bats (such a missed opportunity to add a different walk-through species- i.e.... bird or reptile- Tuataras would have been amazing or literally any bird species IMO), but I'm not mad about them either & I bet people that love bats are very excited for their inclusion.
LOVE the fact we are getting 2 more birds & that one is the Kiwi! Love, love love that all the animals are small- it makes for building much more balanced zoos in terms of species & scale IMO.
My only niggle with the pack is I do kind of wish they'd given us a Tree Kangaroo instead of a second Aussie exclusive animal in the Quokka. I feel like Tree Kangaroos have been much more highly requested than Quokka & we already have Wallabies in the game but nothing like Tree Kangaroos yet.
Personally the star of the pack for me is Kiwis- Quokka are at the bottom with only the bats below them in terms of my ranking of this packs animals, so I'm hoping Tree Kangaroos get included in another pack in the not-too-distant future.
I will 100% be purchasing this pack & probably the previous expansions I've not bothered with, as now can't wait to get back to zoo building again!
The only thing better than an Oceania pack is a bird pack IMO- Bring on the Kea, Secretary bird, Crowned pigeon, a Swan, a Pelican, Spoon or Shoebills & a parrot, or hummingbird themed walk through!

The kiwi has always been a dream animal for me! As well as the emu! I was so happy when we got the emu and now am over the moon to get the kiwi! I can die happy now that this game has the kiwi coming on in!
It seems like guest can go into exhibits in this pack as well! It’s where the little boat clip is as they were not walking on a path! It’ll be really exciting if that’s true!

13:09 Kiwis definitely dig their own burrows lol. Kiwi are incredibly cool, they’re a species of bird that has evolved to act like a mammal. like other ratites, they have incredibly strong legs and large clawed feet, perfect for digging burrows like a mammal. They have brown, fuzzy, fur-like feathers, and whiskers like a mammal. And while most birds have incredible eyesight and terrible smell, kiwi have terrible eyesight and incredibly good smell, the second best smell of all birds right next to turkey vulture.

I started building a small habitat a while ago with the porcupine in mind but I think I'm going to wait for the new pack, since all the animals are so small I'm sure one of them will fit perfectly. I'm most excited for the quokka, I never expected that one to be added so super happy that these cute animals will be in the game. Another one from my wishlist :)

Amazing pack frontier devs did a fantastic job I can see why some people be upset over the bat but I think frontier wants to split up what animals and get the loops nearly impossible to recognise and to see how big a flying animal can before clipping in to stuff before adding birds. And some people probably wanted a another bat as flying fox are amazing animals

  • @leonardomachado9423
    @leonardomachado9423 Год назад

I get that we all wanted birds (The Vancouver Island rufous hummingbird was on top of my walktrough habitat wishlist) but most people don't realize that there are over 1400 species of bat in the world. That's more than one fifth of all mammal species. In Planet Zoo, we have multiple animals in the Canis, Panthera, Ursus and Pan genera alone and yet we only have two bat species. I feel that they remain underrepresented in the game. There are so many cool bats that would look great in our zoos, like the eastern red bat, the honduran white bat, the giant flying fox, the common pipistrelle and the big brown bat.
I wouldn't mind if they dropped five bat species in the next DLC like they did with the butterflies.

Curious how many will actually use the Devils in their zoos. They will most likely be one of the louder animals and yes they sound exactly as their name suggests 😊 the accuracy of how they sound will be the real test.

  • @KiwiSimsKate

I'm so excited to get the kiwi (obviously) 😂 And yes, they do actually dig their own burrows, or sometimes live in hollows of trees. BUT I'm a little disappointed that it doesn't seem that their enclosures are nocturnal ones? Kiwis are not typically seen in daylight and when they are it's often a side of stress or something else not natural for them. There was a zoo overseas somewhere that recently got into trouble with the NZ government because they were I think doing kiwi viewings in the daytime. We are VERY protective of our little strange national bird 😅
I would have also loved to have seen more NZ animals, rather than more Australian ones. We have such an incredibly unique endemic bird range here because our land mass split off without any land mammals (one species of bat being the exception), so birds flourished and took over. Would have been a perfect opportunity to bring in a bird for the aviary, like you mention.
Even though native NZ animals are lacking in this pack (nz is used to being left out.. 😂) a lot of the plants look like they're from here, including the one you talk about wanting to lower to use as grass tufts 😅 It's called a cabbage tree (don't ask me why! 😂)
    Thanks for the video! ❤

There are two new wall sets, there is the bamboo wallset that you pointed out. There is also a black rock (lava rock?) wall set seen at 7:24, just next to the stairs. its very similar to the rustic European wall set, but its definitely different. (I hope its flexicolour as well)

Well, you`re a little disappointed about a second bat, I am a little disappointed about a 3rd penguin and a 3rd kanguroo. I really hope, the area focused pack and the African focused pack before mean, that they go back to area focused packs once in a while and we will get a South America focused animal pack next time. Cause I am waiting for coatis, new world monkeys, spectacled bears, maras, peccaris, tamanduas, tamarins and more for over a year now :-D
