    Costco is offering the Sony X90L 65" for $999.. it also comes with a 5 year Allstate warranty. Which is worth $100 so the TV is really only $899 which is the same price as the 65" Hisense U8K and TCL QM8. For those looking.

      I want back and forth between the X90L and the X93L with the same content including freeze frame and the only advantage that I could see is the deeper blacks on the X93L. Coming from an OLED that is an issue. The clarity and the shadow detail is a bit better on the X90L due to the XR Clear. The sets were just factory set and the remotes were not available at my local Best Buy. I was left wondering if the black level on the X90L would be improved enough if I adjusted the contrast and brightness and or monkey around with the different presets? I could not test the sound without the remotes and there is no question that anti glare on the X93L is superior.

      I purchased a Sony X90L 65 inch yesterday for $930 out the door at a military exchange. Great price and I was pretty excited to get it unboxed and up and running. Much to my dismay, I'm not very impressed. Streaming Cable from Breezeline (formally Atlantic Broadband) and Netflix content to include NFL live games, old movies on TCM, and a few News shows over the last 24 hours, the picture looks like garbage. Replaced a Samsung UN55MU8000 (circa 2017), which is still quite good. I messed around with the setting, nothing seems to help.

      Look, I get that it's healthy to be skeptical and critical, but at the end of the day we all have to decide for ourselves who's word we put stock in. If you look at the reviews for literally anything that's sold or you have to put up money for, there's someone there to tell you you can't trust the reviewers because they all have a financial agenda, and we certainly can't trust random people on the internet "en masse" because they tend to be either uninformed or fanboys (often both), and there's only so many things we can know for ourselves from direct experience. So... do your best to find sources you think you can count on "most of the time". That's all any of us do. ;)

Based on your review I bought my first TCL TV, a 75" series 6 in 2021 - this was a big leap for someone who has owned different Samsung's and Sony's over the years. It was good advise and I have been really happy with it. So much so, I bought a TCL series 5 for a spare room in 2022. I am doing a bit of a Reno right now in our master and have incorporated a recessed shelf where I can mount up to a 65" TV. I have watched your reviews on the Hisense U7, the TCL Q7 and the TCL QM8. On Amazon Canada the Hisense U7 is $998 (CDN) the TCL Q7 is $1099, and the TCL QM8 is $1399. Because the U7 and the QM8 are mini-LED, would you consider them equals, making the Hisense a much better buy? It is clear you really like the QM8, so what I am pondering is whether paying an extra $400 for the QM8 makes sense "if" the U7 is its equal? Just looking for your thoughts.

    I sell TVs Part-Time on the weekends for a major brand. So much of TV marketing essentially becomes the substance emanating from the south side of a north bound bull. The brands want you to use their marketing terms for things like motion smoothing, QLED, and backlighting.
    When asked I recommend that customers standardize on a single streaming OS for their home so that all of their TVs work the same way. TVs are essentially giant cell phones. Just like cell phones, after a few years they stop getting software updates. Unlike a cell phone you can add a streaming dongle to keep your TV "smart." Generally I don't recommend AppleTV for most customers due to cost. When it has to be updated you're looking at $130+. With other devices, you're looking at $50 or less. When you are like me, someone who has 9 TVs to buy for, that less expensive option is so much better!

    I have just purchased a new LG QNED85 55" tv and I haven really fallen for the picture of this set. I was shopping around for the best bang for the buck. I needed bright room performance, off center viewing quality, reliability and availability. The thing is, I was looking for the QNED 90 series but found out that the 85 series has the better picture and more bells and whistles. I got the 85 on sale for $599. The 90 series was going to run me just under $1000. I had compared the LG with the TCL and Hisense models and they both lacked 1 or more of my needs. Also I know Caleb loves LG's OLEDs, but I'm still a bit worried about burn in. Bang for the buck wise this LG hit it out of the park.

    I'll post this again here since this TV is in this list: I've been using a TCL QM8 for the last few months in my living room. Its an insanely bright TV, but I worry I'm not getting the best picture quality. I stream through my Xbox Series S for the sake of using one interface between gaming and watching TV. What I hate is that Dolby Vision through my Xbox makes things so dark that they are unwatchable, and HDR isn't much better. When I turn those off in my Xbox settings and use the Movie mode (that I calibrated from the Rtings list of best settings), the picture is so much better. Its brighter, has more contrast and just overall pops out more. So I'm extremely confused because shouldn't DV and HDR be giving me a better picture? Even the native Google TV streaming apps are darker when in DV mode, though not as bad as when streaming through my Xbox. I love to watch movies so I have the fomo BAD

    • @asole100
      @asole100 Год назад +1

      LG is the only brand that does DV correctly all the others not so much so you shouldn't worry too much about it. As for HDR I'm pretty sure the TCL should be the best for that. Weird hearing that you have issues with it.

    • @princevalium25
      @princevalium25 Год назад

      @@asole100 Good to know. I had HDR10 enabled on my Xbox and the picture is brighter than DV, but if I turn both off and use the movie mode from the TV itself, everything is so much brighter and sharper in my opinion. Before we got this TV we got the Samsung S95B and the picture was amazing, but the panel was warped and we had to return it. I know I cant achieve QD-OLED picture with QLED, but Ive been chasing the closest thing for months now.

    Nice video Caleb. The Hisense and TCL TVs you recommend, as well as the Sony X90L, are all nice TVs as long as you are looking at them straight on. If you sit in one spot and are the only one watching the TV, those are all great TVs.
    I have a large bright room and do have at times multiple people over to watch sports. When I took my usage into account, the TV I decided on was the LG QNED85. I get it that we all have only so much time, but the QNED85 is a versatile TV. It is bright enough for the lights on, but has mini LED for when the lights are dim. Wide viewing angle gives everyone a good seat The processing is great; whatever the streaming service, the picture in both SDR and DolbyVision HDR looks wonderful. It also has LG's great gaming features.
    For the price, you can get a QNED85 and a nice soundbar for the price of a Samsung QN85C, Sony X93L or even an LG C3. It would be worth your time to review a QNED85.

    • @ADISTOD3MUS
      @ADISTOD3MUS Год назад

      QNED 85 is a great TV but you can't compare it with an QN85C since there is no comparison due to the fact that Samsung's TV has way better local dimming algorithms,greater color gamut coverage, better build quality, better viewing angles,way better black levels,way better gaming features,etc. In the end what matters if you are happy with your purchase or not and not others says like I did in my comment so have a good gaming or cinema session my friend.✌️

      @@ADISTOD3MUS When I bought a year ago, it was the QN85B and X95K I was comparing with. I agree it would be brighter and have better local dimming, but viewing angle about the same on both. As for gaming, both the QN85B and C has 4 HDMI 2.1 ports vs the QNED85’s 2, but otherwise LG TVs are renown for their gaming modes. The QN85B’s black levels are slightly better than the QNED85’s, but the QN85C is much better. As for build quality, my TV is very nicely built. For what I paid, I am happy.

    TCL QM8 65" price just dropped on Amazon. Wish I had waited a few weeks to save an extra $180 from what I paid on Ebay. I had no idea they would drop the Amazon price $500. Still, I am very happy with the TCL QM8. The picture can be phenomenal and it hooked up to my Samsung Q990C sound bar with 1 HDMI cable. Make sure you get a quality 2.1 cable. The sound bar doesn't work with the older HDMI cables. I need to run a new HDMI 2.1 cable through the wall to get rid of the 1 hanging HDMI cable. I have 3 in wall, older HDMI cables so I might as well do all of them. Thanks for all the info your channel provides, Caleb! Doing a video soon on the best, current HDMI cables? LOL! EDIT: I used eArc slots on both TV and sound bar and the sound bar wouldn't work when I used the in wall cable. I had a new 2.1 and hooked the TV and sound bar up with it. Worked immediately. Both TV and sound bar took some tuning to get the best effects. Good out of the box but way better if you tune them. Rear speaker placement is important, too.

    Late to the party but looking for a new tv and watch a lot of streamed shows and sports and the Sony upscaling is one of the main reasons I am considering the X90L over the Hisense U8N.
    I also tend to like a more natural picture over one that has the colors/ brightness more jacked up honestly.
    I do not game on my tv and my space is of a more dim, light controlled area with no bright windows or reflections.
    Also trying to stretch the budget to go 75" over a 65" set and the Hisense loses a lot of its contrast ability with the IPS-ADS panel in that 75" size.
    Right now the Hisense and the Sony are priced the same for the 75" and the Sony is $100 higher than the Hisense 65".
    Does the Sony upscaling of normal streamed content make this actually the best choice for me for long term say 4 - 5 years use?

      No. Oled is the best quality tv on the market but they break too easily, qled is second place but will last you much longer. That’s my advice. Get a 4k qled, or a oled if you’re willing to replace it in about 6 to 8 years for thousands of dollars. Your call cowboy.

    Why was the X90L chosen over the X93L? Due to price? The X95L looks amazing, but just way too big for my apartment

    So Caleb I’m assuming that means you won’t be reviewing the use 6K because you don’t have to buy one so as people who might be stuck to buying one, just won’t get your opinion on it

    QLed tvs are decent but IMO you cannot beat pairing an OLED with ATV 4K box!
