I understand completely how you feel, I lost my entire family overnight due to marrying someone outside the religion. It was shocking to say the least and took me YEARS to overcome. I promise you will learn to live with this and be happy again. Grief is a common thing we share as humans and that is what connects us, we all suffer loss eventually….the trick is finding small ways to overcome it. One way that’s greatly helped me is taking small amounts of time where I’m just living in the moment and forcefully removing all thoughts from my brain, stepping into the water on a beach, walking barefoot in the forest or simply just doing anything physical. You may still feel bad emotions but the trick is not to connect thoughts to it, it will eventually subside if you practise this and it worked for me. Best of luck to you, you’re never alone 🙂🌻

You can even ask God to put that forgiveness in your heart. Try to be around people who uplift you (in a good, healthy way), and avoid negative people who complain, criticize, and bring you down. Try to do kind things for other people, even those you don’t know well, every day. Live in the light, and God bless you! 🙏🏼

Yeah, I think some parents (in general, regardless of race) can ease up on the less than perfection thing though. Not that I have anyone Malaysian or Asian in my family (other than a cousin from the Philippines who was adopted), but I remember going home with a notice of excellence ("Good Guy Award" or something like that), and being asked why only two of the three good things were checked off. I didn't even know I was going to _get it in the first place,_ or what the things with check boxes even were until I received it. It's important to see more of what the child does right, than what the child does wrong.

If I spilled something they would double-team on me with lectures and clean it up themselves while making me feel as guilty as possible. I guess that was happens when they agree on a parenting style 💀

I have since learned to shoot for the highest level of excellence in all I do. However, to have a balance so if I don't make my goal to still be proud of the effort, readjust and try again. Perfection is demonic and causes anxiety and depression. Try to have a spirit of excellence, you will feel better in the end. When I was young my Mom was always FOR having friends over and sleepovers.
She would make things to eat and drink.
She recently told me that one of the reasons she was so receptive to the idea is to see the types of friends I had.
Your child might be influenced in a very bad way by bad friends especially in the early development stages.
You as a parent have very limited exposure to your child's friends.
I did have a good friends around me but I appreciate my mom looking out for me. (As I was a boy with boy friends mostly my dad also participated, told jokes etc and I am sure he checked my friends as well)

@@rdu239 I didn’t have many sleepovers as most people in my country live in flats and you only have 1 bath.
It is not like with houses in the US that are usually bigger.
So you could get maybe 1-2 friends max to sleep over in my country.
However - watching movies, playing console games etc.
It is more than enough time for mom or dad to get a feeling and a vibe check of your friends.
Also my parents did not over extend their presence and they were not outwardly noisy so neither me or my friends felt bad.
I will definitely be using this parenting advice if I, God willing , become a parent.

@@riyasingh2729you talk too much as kids able to perceive all that. Asian are better at teaching kids, because CONSEQUENCES always come for every action you do rather that white lying sweet talking everything, thats why western have gender pronouns shit.

Parenting is the hardest heartfelt you'll ever do. They can only start from what they learned as a child and build on that. Nobody gets it perfect, thank God they even try!

As a cantonese, this is soooo relatable. Since I am a kid, my parents something block out some, scenes. I like adults movies that have violence squid game, vikings valhalla, etc. Once theres a unexpected making a baby scene, my parents cover my eyes. When I watch alone, I usually skip it.

LOL I've been reading through the comments and it's so funny to see how many different cultures vibe with the Asian parent and how few vibe with the American parent. As an American parent, I find that amusing and a little surprising that so few do things as we would. Very interesting. :)

I am "white" American and my husband is Hmong American. Everything is pretty much right except the accidental spill on the couch scenario. I am the one who makes him clean up and my husband is the softy.
The kids in the bed is SO true. I finally convinced my husband to let our older boy sleep in his own bed. Our younger one still sleeps with us. I dont mind the cuddles.
Its all about communication and compromise. ❤

For those reliving their childhood traumas... know that you can be free from that pain and you can forgive your parents because they're sinners like ANYONE else. Once I learned about my own sin nature, I understood that of my parents. I forgave them and now I am able to parent with joy, and help my son to forgive as he grows- knowing that NONE of us are perfect.
