- Hey everyone, We've got a new buffet tour for you guys. In this video, we break down breakfast and dinner buffets at Colonial and Tropical. We're doing both hotels in the same video, because they share a buffet space!
It is a smaller buffet than it's sister hotels (Caribe and Beach), but there's still lot's to offer. If you're a foodie, you might want to head over to Beach or Colonial to check out the offerings and exclusive buffets there!
For those with dietary concerns or preferences, there are dairy alternatives which is really awesome to see!

Too much food at Barcelo, we tried beach/caribe and colonial buffet the tropical was closed,we liked the caribe, there was seafood when we went there, big prawns, tiger shrimps, crabs, mussels, some oysters..beach buffet is always crowded and chaos on peak times😂 next year we will try Barcelo palace..just be warned when you swim at shoreline with kids near Riviera adults only area, we saw topless girls running around naked😂🤦🏻♂️, we had to turn back to the other way as my 15 yr old son was looking at them like a hawk🤣 we tried to go on our ala cart reservations but the time that we had was always around 6pm and at that time we are always at the pool and beach areas and also the activity jetski/kayak/banana boat/sailboat is always fully booked even we went there at 8:30am.. we always ended up doing those rental activity at 3:300-4pm which is the last spot of the day🤦🏻♂️there is also a good spot for snorkeling by the boat divers dock near Riviera maya big sign/dolphin area.. just bring lots of bread from the buffet so you’ll have plenty of food for the fish and those fish will swarm you while your snorkeling..awesome for pictures and video👍

Was there any theme nights that you noticed, Mexican, Italian, Seafood. I'd like to know so I could book ala carte dinners accordingly, thanks.
There are usually different themes every night. You can ask at guest service or reception to find out which night is which.
The Caribe looks better than the Colonial. In your option, what is the better hotel when staying at the Barcelo? We have two kids (6 & 2) and are foodies. Like mentioned on a previous comment, I’ve stayed at the Caribe about 10 years ago. Does the Barcelo still offer Lobster and Steak dinner outside of the buffet option? Thanks for the videos :)
The Palace has a great splash pad for the kids and has great good options. Unfortunately we didn’t get a chance to eat at all the restaurants on Barcelo property - but I bet you can get steak and lobster at the ala carte restaurants 👍🏻

If you are staying at Colonial or Tropical, can you use the buffets at Caribe and Beach please?
How do they know which hotel you are staying at, do they have different colours for wristbands?
Yes, you can eat at those buffets - but not the Maya Palace or the Maya Riviera. Yes, everyone gets a different wristband based on which hotel they stay at 👍🏻
Is there a crêperie? Someone who do thin pancakes ? And a pasta bar ?? And at night fried Ice Cream. ?? Thanks
Yes they are both shown in the video. I love crepes so I'm excited about that! 😊
I didn't see fried ice cream. Not sure about late night hours. I think they all close at 10-1030. The bars may offer late night menus.

Great video, but the buffet's are pretty much all the same at that level of quality resort I'm thinking. Would you agree?
Yes agreed. The Maya Palace and Maya Riviera have a bit better of a selection and higher quality food 👍🏻
How was the food would you say at the tropical?
It was pretty good! We ate there a few times and always found something good to eat 👍🏻
