    I've always wanted a cafe racer. Not a production bike like the Thruxton, Commando, or the V7, but something I could customize. Then I saw an SR400 at my local dealership and I knew I had found the Holy Grail: classic styling, single cylinder, kick starter, fuel injection, Japanese reliability, and a great price (compared to the European models). It's been in production since 1978 and custom parts are easy to find. I'm still getting accustomed to all the attention this little guy attracts. Thank you, Yamaha!

    • @4everEddie
      @4everEddie 9 лет назад

      gmoore9449 i would buy the sr 500, because in my opinion the fuel injection doesen't work very well with the engine. I mean of course the engine runs, but it feels wrong. It's the same with the Bonneville the fuel injection just doesn't feel good with these old engines

    I have been a regular consumer of petrolicious, I so wanted to find a similar channel for motorbikes, and finally last night I found this gem of a channel. Loving it.❤
    I was able to relate to this video because when I was little kid I was introduced to bikes, my dad had an old Royal Enfield and he would take me for small rides on it, I grew up collecting bike posters and magazines, I remember even my high school days all my books and textbooks last pages would have motorbike sketches. Finally in 2005, My dad bought me a bike it was cherry coloured single cylinder 150, couple years of squid riding and one moderate accident. I was convinced to sell my bike to my cousin. He unfortunately met with a life ending accident on taht same bike. Hence I switched to my grandfathers 150 scooter (as my family thought it was more safe than a bike) . A year and half of accident free riding next summer I was lucky enough to have my uncles old RE for daily rides for a couple of months. Next I wanted a Honda Karizma 300 for myself so bad, for safety concerns again my parents would rather see me driving a car. As a result I became a car guy bought a white Suzuki Swift moded it to my needs. Had to say goodbye to her 2010 because I was moving abroad to Canada for my higher studies. 7 years in Vancouver Bc, I relied on public transport and finally last year I came back to my motherland India to pursue my career as a singer. And the first I did was after years of craving, buy myself a naked sports tourer #Mojo. It's a single cyclinder 300, I have been loving every second of riding that black beauty. So, this is my story from being a biker to a modder, a car guy and now back to my love again🏍✌

    I like it. well done, well said. I'm 6'4" and my knees and back are thankful for both my Harleys with forward controls and ape hangers after 35 years of riding...but my eye still likes these bikes. I actually went down the my local Yamaha shop to see this bike...it's pretty cool. I remember the days of kick starts - good and bad, lol. In the end, I can't contort my body to fit one of these anymore...but the new revival of the movement is cool. My wife and I have the same helmet I believe too...which we take with us for when we cross states where we need to wear them. Great for hearing traffic noises.

    Easily one of the best videos and stories I've seen. My Pops had a few bikes. All Hondas. My first is this SR250 I am building. But I laughed at the part about him talking to his Dad. I have the same thing happen. Everything I think I figured out something, it turns out he crossed that same bridge a while ago. Awesome video.

    I was on the fence about whether or not I should buy a bike, but after watching a couple of episodes of this series I'm sold. I love the minimalistic ideology behind the cafe racer scene. I'm actually considering just building one instead of trying to find one, since I think I really want to make it my own. Subscribed after episode 1! Keep making these videos mates, they're amazing.

      @@9feetfrog how interesting to see my comment from so long ago. I ended up purchasing a pre-owned Thruxton w/ only 900 miles on it. Absolutely best thing I’ve ever gifted myself. Sold a few years ago, and I’m on the hunt for my next one.

    Gday, if you still enjoy music you better start to use ear plugs. This may or may not be cool, but once the damage is done. There is no going back. Cool bike : )

    • @Roadghost88
      @Roadghost88 9 лет назад

      ducatiphill Absolutely agree. I rode back in the 80s with a 1/2 shell and not earplugs. The ringing in your ears is fierce after a 400 mile ride. Wear earplugs. I keep a full box of them bought from the industrial safety store in my garage. Every time I go for a ride now I take a couple of sets with me. I lost a lot of hearing from riding without them.

    Stories of the bike. I am sorry but what I see are once good motorcycles cut to pieces and made look dumb. They are dangerous and should be put off the road. The people riding them appear to be actors that I have seen on Australian television programs at one time or another.

    • @storiesofbike
      @storiesofbike  8 лет назад +11

      No appologies neccessary - you may want to get our eyes checked tho; there's no "the" in Stories of Bike, these bikes look great (and it's all personal preference after all) and non of these people are actors. :)
