  • hey guys, in this video tutorial I will show you how you guys can design a simple drill bit in fusion 360.
Drill bits are cutting tools used to remove material to create holes, almost always of circular cross-section. Drill bits come in many sizes and shapes and can create different kinds of holes in many different materials.

I hate to be the one to break the news to you, Sparks, but you just made a left-handed drill bit. ;)

Nice vid, helix is a tricky topic. I'm NOT trying to get down on you because it's not a smartness thing at all, it's a spatial orientation thing. But I'm still gonna kid you about it. :)
I NEED helix! (Haven't done it yet but will use your other vid to install it because I've never done an add-in before.) I have a design that needs helix!! It's a -square- profile that needs to follow a 180 degree curved angled path. I spent many hours with all kinds of ideas that never worked. Helix will make it easy and done.
If you're into it here are a couple of ideas/challenges...
Add the chamfer to the flutes to look more realistic.
      Add rotation animation.
Different unusual bits, flat/spade, forstner, countersink.
Parameter driven generator that plugs in numbers and creates the drill bit.

I think that this sharpening will not work. You don't need to make a cone from the tip but made two flat cuts like ones on the image: www.gia.edu/images/144680.jpg
In your case you have a sharp cone. This will not start to cur metal until bit reaches the sharp ages which are couple of millimeters higher. In real life this will never heppen.
