Sheer perfection. One of the most beautiful songs ever made. An amazingly underrated band that deserved success but, as always, were ignored by the masses.
To this day I have no idea why they weren't huge. Great musicans, songwriting and as charismatic a frontwoman as I've ever seen. Blame it on their label rep.
That label absolutely sucked. When I think how a musically bankrupt band like Til Tuesday got famous it makes me puke. BTW....my wife worked with the drummers mom at Liberty Mutual home office in Boston....that's how I found out about them.
W00T SHODAN IS SINGING. They should have made System Shock 1 / 2 really scary by making Shodan sing or something. You know, you suddenly hear the voice, really soft, not loud, and then some kind of really "simple" song. Can scare the crap outta ya. And then, I WILL GET YOU INSECT lol
It's too bad they didn't make it to the mainstream success. On the other hand, System Shock and Thief would be so different without Greg, Eric and Teri. Love their albums.
Well, of course one of their songs is in Rock Band. It's THEIR company! "Terri and Eric Brosius and Greg LoPiccolo later joined video game developer Looking Glass Studios and did sound/voice/music work on various games. They would later become founding members of Guitar Hero developer Harmonix.[3]" Harmonix also makes the Rock Band series of games.
I heard them for the first time when they opened for The Psychedelic Furs at The Metropol in Pittsburgh. At first we weren't paying too much attention to them, Teri was begging people to dance - it was so sad. By the end of the set, I was literally mesmerized by their music which I call transcendental - they wrote songs that built massive amounts of energy in just a few minutes - NO ONE does that! Hooked line and sinker. Abort was LAST album I ever listened to over and over again. I was 40 years old then.
never heard of them until my wife and i got rockband. tribe is our fav to play. don't know why so many people, particularly musicians are anti-rockband. we bought some cd's b/c of the game, and we bought a real drum set to go along with the guitars we bought after playing guitar hero. so yeah, we're total geeks...
@Rezorrand I saw Tribe in 89, they played at a bar in Billerica Mass. excellent show, very close to the stage and got to talk with the whole band and stare at Janet..
thanx for the comments, folks ;). radam - well, i´m surprised too about their short existence. because they had such a potential to achieve much more, nearly every song is a gem...
Nonetheless, I heard that in this song Terry has the lead on singing. So, Rez is right! And, btw, me too I am still panting and sweating while I run through the corridors with her voice haunting me.
oh, what an honour ;) thanx! well, i still havn´t finished with posting tribe, i´m only missing pictures of them. but if i don´t find any other, i´ll post the songs with different pics.
hello! well, i really intend to post also some of the songs you´ve mentioned, because they are really awesome too. it´s only a matter of free time i unfortunately didn´t have enough in the last time...
And just for the record, I haven't sent them any links to any Tribe songs YET (obviously, or your view count would have EXPLODED), because the time isn't ripe for that yet... I'm picking my moments... but I will, rest assured...
Keeroy, you're a hero for posting the album version of this, but you would be an even BIGGER hero if you also posted the album versions of "Jakpot" and "Vigil." Seriously, we'll give you a PARADE...
@mrghin22 It's been so long since I was in the area, I can only say, "Could be." I came from further north, and it's the only place I remember going to in Billerica 20-plus years ago. I never drove there, either, thankfully...! Small, as I recall...
Although Terri was the lead on this song... Keeroy, I implore you again, please put "Easter Dinner," "Daddy's Home," "Serenade," and "Tied" on YT, for the sake of humanity!
It works so well, get it before they are forced to shut it down. Just remember the quality is only as good as the video is posted on youtube, which is not so great. Still cool though.
hmmm, you can see the videos i´ve made ;) they are all my favourite bands. its a wide scale. from the who to dead can dance, from nine inch nails to bill leeb, from pink floyd to interpol...
I hear you, keeroy, and the work you've already done is much appreciated... if you do get the chance at some point, it would be awesome if you could post them, not for me, but for all the potential Tribe fans who might not otherwise be exposed to their music. (Such as my Facebook Friends, who I would send a link to the songs on RUclips...)
anyone have their song "anna" which may be on their very first album of 1987? i can't find ti anywhere. thanks, the owl
7 лет назад
owlsley5 I haven't heard their first album (waiting for it to arrive in the mailbox), but there is no song called Anna. The lyrics of Nevermind from their third album, Sleeper, mentions Anna several times. Perhaps that's the song you are looking for.
Keeroy, If you get the chance, you would be doing the world a tremendous favor if you posted the album versions of "Easter Dinner," "Daddy's Home," "Jakpot" , "Serenade," and "Tied." No one has put the album versions of those on youtube yet. I'm sure you're a busy person, but the album is out of print and itunes doesn't have the songs... it's a crying shame that this group is not known to a lot more people... you would be doing a public service by posting those songs!
so my father the other night says...lets find a good band and just follow them around. I haven't heard many plans from him so at least it was a plan. People that want to live...usually you hear a plan from them. Its the opposite of suicide plans.
i completely agree. commercial success seems to be an illness diagnose today, because it depends on the decisions of the labels. and a label manager wants to reach even the last brainless stone age primitive without a trace of a musical taste. so (c)rap became a genre for example :))
Rock doesnt use Janet's voice which is too bad because she is so impressive but I'll buy the video game just because there is a Tribe song.If you like Tribe you will like the live video's of Tribe I found and uploaded. See Tribe at Avalon.Hope you like. I loved seeing this band any time I could.
Wow. Did someone really just compare Tokyo Hotel to THIS?!?!?! That pop crap is so boring I don't know why so many people like it. There is no basis to the music. No soul. There is, however, electricity. Just look at the lead singers hair. Tribe is awesome.
Sheer perfection. One of the most beautiful songs ever made. An amazingly underrated band that deserved success but, as always, were ignored by the masses.
Boston Band. I saw them at The Channel. Simply wonderful!
I imagine SHODAN is singing this. SHODAN and the Sybernetic Sentinels?
To this day I have no idea why they weren't huge. Great musicans, songwriting and as charismatic a frontwoman as I've ever seen. Blame it on their label rep.
That label absolutely sucked. When I think how a musically bankrupt band like Til Tuesday got famous it makes me puke. BTW....my wife worked with the drummers mom at Liberty Mutual home office in Boston....that's how I found out about them.
I can't believe this is shodan herself singing! Man she has a very beautiful voice!
This is my favorite Tribe song.
I miss you. I remember. I wish more people could hear this. All of your songs spoke to me.
"I'll get you soon!" - Swayzak
*SHODAN suddenly starts laughing uncontrollably*
It's too bad they didn't make it to the mainstream success. On the other hand, System Shock and Thief would be so different without Greg, Eric and Teri. Love their albums.
1:23 SHODAN in her prime ❤❤❤
SHODAN is also singing here :)
Great song...album (Abort)...and band!!!!
Well, of course one of their songs is in Rock Band. It's THEIR company!

Shodan lore hitting different
1:20 SHODAN! and she sings this song :)
Amazing...brings back memories from 89/90 when I saw them in NB while at Rutgers...they were amazing live
One of the songs in my soul ,forever.
The hole album is amazing. Love it!
Getting shivers from hearing this voice. I except her to say "L-l-l-look at you hacker.."
... pathetic creature of meat and bones...
I saw Tribe play for the last time at The Orpheum. They backed up James. Another memorable night.
paulsak59 I was there. That was their final show. Amazing band!
I miss Tribe. They were amazing LIVE not to mention the fact that Terri and Janet are smoking HOT!!! with voices of angels. Damn!
never heard of them until my wife and i got rockband. tribe is our fav to play. don't know why so many people, particularly musicians are anti-rockband. we bought some cd's b/c of the game, and we bought a real drum set to go along with the guitars we bought after playing guitar hero. so yeah, we're total geeks...
Yep, it's included in the game and it sounds real to me! It's great and one of my favorite songs in Rock Band.
@keeroy actually Terri sings main vocals on two tracks, Rescue Me and Mr. Lieber. So watch out hackers...
Love this band ❤️
They are really one of the best groups in this stile....specially Janet LaValley - very special voice
@Rezorrand I saw Tribe in 89, they played at a bar in Billerica Mass. excellent show, very close to the stage and got to talk with the whole band and stare at Janet..
thanks for posting this. I commented on the other video about how I saw them in concert back in 89-90 at Boston University.
loved this band!
Thief II The Metal Age
Absolutely love this track. Has a Sonic Youth kinda sound to it.
You would love The Sundays
Great band, great song. They are missed! Thanks for posting this.
thanx for the comments, folks ;).
radam - well, i´m surprised too about their short existence. because they had such a potential to achieve much more, nearly every song is a gem...
Again. Thanks. This was the song which made me investigate.
Very nice montage. thanks for sharing.
Awesome song..
I agree, tremendous record.
Absolutely bitchin. This is one of the groups I listened to in college, along with the Pixies and O-Positive. Dynamite shit! Thanks for posting.
Nonetheless, I heard that in this song Terry has the lead on singing. So, Rez is right! And, btw, me too I am still panting and sweating while I run through the corridors with her voice haunting me.
Amazing Tribe.
oh, what an honour ;) thanx!
well, i still havn´t finished with posting tribe, i´m only missing pictures of them. but if i don´t find any other, i´ll post the songs with different pics.
they should have been on 4AD for their time.
wish they'd played this at one of their games' ending.
underrated???? fn awesome!!!! solid throghout!
I practiced and practiced until I could get the chords down to this song. Eric Brosius has a sound of his own.
The chords sound like a vinyl record with a problematic motor and I love it. Almost has a Boards of Canada vibe to the instrumentals.
@keeroy Isn't this one with Terri on lead vocals? Her pitch is slightly higher than Janet's.
@keeroy That is true, but Terri sings lead on this one. I saw them in Dallas in 93. They were perfect live.
It is Terri's vocal all right.
hello! well, i really intend to post also some of the songs you´ve mentioned, because they are really awesome too. it´s only a matter of free time i unfortunately didn´t have enough in the last time...
exactly as you say. the newest version of real player. and you can donwload all youtube videos.
And just for the record, I haven't sent them any links to any Tribe songs YET (obviously, or your view count would have EXPLODED), because the time isn't ripe for that yet... I'm picking my moments... but I will, rest assured...
I only ever heard 'Supercollider' but they seem like a band worth chacking into , which I will do. You may also like 'Eve's Plum' .
Thief brought me here!
well, the singer of tribe was jane lavalley, terri brosius played keyboards and figured as back vocal.
Keeroy, you're a hero for posting the album version of this, but you would be an even BIGGER hero if you also posted the album versions of "Jakpot" and "Vigil."

I saw them so many times at Avalon or The Paradise in Boston. Best performance was at the Orpheum when they backed up James.
Although Terri was the lead on this song... Keeroy, I implore you again, please put "Easter Dinner," "Daddy's Home," "Serenade," and "Tied" on YT, for the sake of humanity!
wow... I miss them! I lost their cassette, how long ago is that? ha ha
And I thought the studio version of "Jakpot" is on YT, but it isn't, and that's a more crucial Tribe song than any of the others I mentioned.
It works so well, get it before they are forced to shut it down. Just remember the quality is only as good as the video is posted on youtube, which is not so great. Still cool though.

Tokio Hotel is a german band and extremely popular in Europe. In my opinion they are very good, but I've never heard them do this song.
@keeroy Terri did the vocals in this song, though, as well as Mr. Lieber. Thus saith the wiki gods! :-)
anyone have their song "anna" which may be on their very first album of 1987? i can't find ti anywhere. thanks, the owl

My na..naa.... name (name) is SHODAN how dare... dare you to say it wrong (insect) insect.
Somebody please make a torrent of this band!
@bmiltonb Was it off of Middlesex Turnpike area?
so my father the other night says...lets find a good band and just follow them around. I haven't heard many plans from him so at least it was a plan. People that want to live...usually you hear a plan from them. Its the opposite of suicide plans.
Eric Brosius \m/
@mrghin22 Edible Rex?

kinda upbeat trance-o-matic ...mazzy star without the absynthe and necrotic liver. nice.
what is tokio hotel?
Rock doesnt use Janet's voice which is too bad because she is so impressive but I'll buy the video game just because there is a Tribe song.If you like Tribe you will like the live video's of Tribe I found and uploaded. See Tribe at Avalon.Hope you like. I loved seeing this band any time I could.
can I still buy this album?
I though in this song Terri's vocal was leading, as well as "Tied" - wasn't it?
Yes, she does the singing on this one. Janet sings on Tied though.
right after this song ended I expected to hear the intro to Jakpot...
aww, yer silly :)
who else do you like besides Tribe?
real player downloader.
Which instrument did Eric play, and which did Greg play?
MUZBOZ Games Eric was guitar
this is different from the version I have..
Nuisance!
Greg LoPiccolo invented the popular game Guitar Hero.
WRONG. Guitar Hero was adapted from the Konami game "Guitarfreaks".
I have the cd version and it is more engaging than this version, more lively.
"unfortunately" i know those teenies. absolutely not my taste :)
Wow. Did someone really just compare Tokyo Hotel to THIS?!?!?! That pop crap is so boring I don't know why so many people like it. There is no basis to the music. No soul. There is, however, electricity. Just look at the lead singers hair.
Tribe is awesome.
