I completely agree. I heard them on the radio in Boston (and saw them a few times). I actually did not like this song at first but now it gives me chills listening to it. "He's already gone for the weekend in his mind"... My favorite Tribe song ever. On my personal Top 10 of all song ever.
Not completely unknown thanks to Rock Band. For me personally, that title belongs to Dance Of The Manatee by Fair To Midland.Super underappreciated band....
I never tire of this song. Imagine a recent college grad from Oklahoma, on his own, starting his first job in Boston, grabbing lunch in Kendall Square in Cambridge, and hearing a live band a few blocks away. Was a beautiful spring day, warm, blue sky with a few puffy white clouds. Was introduced to Tribe that day. Heard a few great songs late in the set before they broke before the encore. I was right up front and stage right. Suddenly the curtains in front of me opened a little, and I was face to face with Janet. She smiled right at me, checked the crowd, and disappeared all in about two seconds. Then they came out and finished with Outside. I fell in love with Janet, Tribe, Boston, and my freedom all in that one lunch break. And I instantly feel the same way to this day every time I treat myself to this song.
Me too! I remember when I hit 98-99% on expert I was like raaaaaaawwwrrrr!!! Years later, I have a real kit. And I'm not too bad. Yes, you can actually learn the basics of drumming on rock band.
Holy crap. I loved this song on Rock Band and I just now find out two of the people in this band worked for Looking Glass making the Thief games? The sound in the old Thief games was top notch stuff. I guess it makes sense to find out that the best song from Rock Band from a band I'd not yet heard of was from people that made Thief. Haha! Awesome.
Actually 3 people worked at Looking Glass from this band. Eric Brosius, the audio guy for Thief. Terri Brosius, voice of SHODAN and thief designer. Greg LoPiccolo, System Shock 1 composer and Thief 1 project lead. Quite a talented bunch.
@@LordDucky1 Little bit of trivia for you (and gives an insight into why this song is in Rock Band), one of the band members of Tribe ended up working for Harmonix. That's why this song is in the game.
@@_JPlays_ not just one, atleast two and probably three - Greg, Eric & Terri. Greg vice president of product development now chief creative officer & Eric is audio director/composer and Terri seems still involved as voice talent & might help composing.
I used to listen to my brother play this on Rock Band, and I don't think I ever played it myself. I found myself thinking about it every once in awhile in the years afterward, and eventually realized that I really liked it. But it's only just now that I looked it up.
like most of the original "here at the home" album, this kicks the "abort" version all over the place. just when you think they can't take the energy level up one more notch, they do. once upon a time, these guys were the best band in boston, hands down.
Correct. Remember seeing them destroy souls in little rooms like NightStage and Cantone's? RIP Cool Boston. You were really and truly destroyed by money and greed.
The better version of the two I know of, although the other has a little extra on the end which I think works well. There are countless songs about lost love, but it's mostly in very old literature (like Troilus and Criseyde, Geoffrey Chaucer) that you'll get something of the inner insight or epiphany that can come from such a burning experience (the wave inside). This song conveys that. Extraordinary in this time. The way it builds up to, and then sustains, it charging fury is astonishing. Played this one good and loud numberless times.
These guys and Tijuana Sweetheart (formerly VAGIANT) both need to get their stuff on Spotify so their fans can more conveniently cling to the past. I need my nostalgia songs and RUclips is pretty inconvenient!
Nope, the cover of Here at the Home is a pixellated building with roses in front of it. The record label is Rutabaga Records- they released it while they were a local Boston band (I was lucky enough to know and love them then and snagged a copy from one of their shows) and when they got more popular they released Abort, which has most of the songs from Here at the Home on it as a re-release under Slash/Warner's larger label.
@i7deutschland If rockband is introducing people who might not otherwise listen to good music like this to listen, I don't see anything wrong with that.
i remember in rockband back when i was a teen playing this song haveing a tall dude playing a chainsaw guitar and haveing him dressed up like leather face playing this song on exspert and for some crazy reason the song reminded me of leatherface if you pay close attention ahh memories
This starting bit sounds way better in mono. The stereo effect of switching between the left and right speakers actually hurts the feel. Worse with headphones.
Why the hell are their albums out of print. When they didn't make it I knew trying to make a living playing music was a fickle fools errand. At least they took their skills to other mediums.
Glee, never heard this version, but i think this one is not the one featured on rockband, i belive its the one from abort, anyway its a great song, i just love it, feels so powerfull, abortion sucks... i hope every girl could "feel the wave inside" too
That's like saying It's a bad thing that someone heard it on the radio or T.V what the fuck is the difference, and who cares the band gets more publicity so it's good all around isn't it?
Crush fits perfectly well if you're not American. You all think you're these flawless speakers of the English language-there are many things you don't know.
First off, I speak American. The American language and the English language is totally different. Like, if you want the English language, go to England. D-uh.
This is, hands down, the best, most unknown, greatest song ever, in the history of music.
I completely agree. I heard them on the radio in Boston (and saw them a few times). I actually did not like this song at first but now it gives me chills listening to it. "He's already gone for the weekend in his mind"...

agreed!!! this song is powerful! I used to be a TRIBE groupie :) miss them

I was in love too! recall they walked right by me....almost worshiped them
God, the Rock Band nostalgia is real!
I loved playing guitar to this one.
Same! That little Guitar riff with the echo effect is a phenomena!
Same here. That's how discovered this song. Reminds me of when I was genuinely happy.
Thank you rock band. What an incredible song
what a Melody. what an incredibly overlooked masterpiece from the 80s
some of the members were actually part of harmonix (rockband developer) hence why this song was in the game... very good song.
This song taught me how to keep a disco beat on drums. Thanks rock band.
Hail egg
I too have never heard of Outside by Tribe until Rock Band-Guitar Hero came along. Best, kickass song ever!
Same 🙌🏿🔥💯
Seriously such an amazing song
i could listen to this song all day everyday and never tired of it. i love this song
Love love love! The first time I heard this on Rock Band I knew this was something special. So moving. Listen to it at least a couple time a week.
Indeed. It is a "touching" song. I love it too. ♥
I used to drum the shit out of this song on expert in rock and, I used to sweat my ass off and it made me feel so epic...
those triplets

Try it in real life. Not so bad
Loved trying to expert drums and vocals at the same time. Roommates didn't though;)

What an incredible live band. Great songs, great players and the best front woman Boston ever saw. Really the total package.

Amazing song. One of my favourite songs from Rock Band.
One of the best guitar solos of all time.
This is one of my favorite songs
1:53 I wasn’t the best at Rock Band but I had a lot of fun knowing how to do this part.
Me too,now is my favorite part
Only reason I wanted to truly dial these notes in. Took a long time.
this song is seriously so amazing
agree! so powerful music and lyrics
Will always be my favorite intro of all time.
Great song! Brings back great memories of seeing them live in the ‘80’s.
this song is fucking amazing - crazy to think I would never have known it if not for Rock Band. Tribe deserved to be far far bigger
the bass was so fun to play on rock band! Was great to play the bass and doing the back vocal at the same time!
I love that everyone from this band worked at looking glass studios. The singer is actually the voice of Shodan from System Shock. Great voice!
the wave inside- I hide my smile :) miss Tribe

Yup. Had the HATH cassette. Glad it's up here for all to enjoy.
just rediscovered this tape... in a box in my house, too rough to play, glad youtube has a bit o' Tribe love.

I LOVE THIS SONG!
discovered this gem years ago on rockband and am soooo dissapointed its not on itunes!
Spotify? no, Ok thanks

I was just looking for it too then came on here
It is now, but it’s a different mix
I remember when they played this song at the 1988 WBCN Rumble finals against Heretix, who won.
Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean ... no one's out to get you.
@@danhedonia have you seen my head roll a way......
Giving this song a thumbs up, does not do it justice.
Terri Barous: keyboard, backing vocals
Eric Brosius: lead guitar, backing vocals
Janet LaValley: vocals, rhythm guitar
Greg LoPiccolo: bass, backing vocals
David Penzo: drums, percussion
If you lived in Boston (where the band is from) you'd get why they say "crush"
This song is made of awesome!
This song has always reminded me of maple story...the good old days

Wow! The memories...... !
Bands like this are true lantern bearers for real music in a world of licks, samples, raging and loopy bleepy crap. Viva la melodia!
So under rated, just listen!
Saw them at The Channel in Boston... TWICE!
saw them a few times at the Metro in Worcester. What a great band!
Great tune. Turn it up
Way up
Wish this band was on Spotify.
It’s on Spotify now, as of like 3 weeks ago!!😊
Holy shit.. is that.. is that Shodan singing?!?!
The keyboardist/backup vocalist is Shodan, so she's not doing the main part, if that's what you meant.
Wife loves the shit out of this song
Its the same with Guitar Hero.
On the Second one, the reason most of the bonus songs are on there is because the dev team is in the band.
eyrie lyrics, i love it!
I cannot find this song on Amazon Music - very sad - great song! Learned of it from Rockband
@Rymeth Oh my God. SHODAN's on vocals. :O
SHARE THIS VIDEO ON FACEBOOK !!! OK ??? GO NOW !!! :D TRIBE still rocks in 2013 !
Back when Allston was Rock City
@i7deutschland If rockband is introducing people who might not otherwise listen to good music like this to listen, I don't see anything wrong with that.
To bad they won't put this song on Rocksmith would love to learn to play this , one of my favorite new found bands

absolutely love this song and it is tragic ist is out of print and not available on itunes!!! I WANT IT!!!!

yeah I prefer this version as well, the solo in the other one isn't as good and this version has a raw energy to it that the other one doesn't
Slight correction: Album was entitled "Here At The Home"
You’re telling me they were famous enough to have a rockband worthy song but not a love video on YT?
two of the harmonix developers were members of tribe.
@MediaCheatPlanet1 Phantoka said the person under "R" not "I" lol
Watch out, we gotta badass here.
good stuff
two members of the band started harmonix.... hence why its IN rockband.
Who knows them and get them to get their stuff on Spotify?
I probably still have the disc sitting in my office. Didn't realize it was so hard to come by.
It’s on Spotify now, as of like 3 weeks ago!!😊

Sounds of the Apocalypse
the fingers on the expert version of guitar on rockband tho, ladies hmu lmao ;)
Did they get sprayhosed before taking that picture? Look at all that wet hair
is there anywhere you can buy an mp3 download of this song? i cannot find it on amazon
Fucking spectacular.
Would so like to find this album (at a reasonable price!).
hard to find , the album is out of print

This song sounds so out of place within the album it came on.
The song sounds out of place with the year it was released that it just feels like it's from the early 2000s
I played this song on rockband 99% drums.
Anyone else here from the Noclip Thief documentary?
Not quite as powerful as the 'Abort' version, but still very cool!
Idk I like this version better for some reason
is that a bad thing? that almost everyone at harmonix is real mucisans
Guess that's one positive about Rock Fad and Guitar Zero is that they bring new light to some good music.
What's 'Rock Band ' ?.... never mind , I don't care . I'm old
and actually play guitar .winks. Coolass song
