To settle this debate
Ute: 2 or 4 doors with a tray
Truck: has 6 tyres or more have a body on the back of it (e.g bin, Curtin slider, freezer unit etc) and has a flat nose or long nose bonnet.
This is coming form a diesel mechanic here and also owns a Ute and there about a 2 tone difference too

Ute: the size of a saloon/sedan with a tray at the back
Pick-up truck: the size of a SUV/crossover with a tray at the back
Lorry: your definition of a Truck but there isn't any with a nose bonnet
@@b-k-m-c well thats the New Zealand definition and the noses are anthor body style for a truck long noses are with the engines in front of the driver and flat noses are with the engine underneath the driver. I work at NZ's biggest truck dealership and workshop so I think I know what the difference is between a Ute and a truck a ford ranger isn't a truck either

To clear up the “Ute” thing, Ute is short for utility. So even full size pickups can count as utes
its usually small to medium pickups as an austrailian i call large pickups pickup trucks as they are actually the size of a truck they are ginormous

8:23 TWO DOOR CAR with a TRUCK bed, unibody chassis. A truck is a ladder frame with the body bolted to it. I know because I own a truck, my dad owned an El Camino in the 70s. Plus I had an Aussie yell at me on Instagram once about the history of the UTE. The Hynudai Santa Cruz blurs the lines of Truck/UTE, so does the Maverick being Unibody and not Ladder (body on frame), which a F150 and up is.

The F150 is a full sized truck. A truck is a combination of a separated cabin and payload bed. A ute is a unibody construction of a cabin and bed in one complete form. Therefore the F150 having a separated bed on back is not a ute. An El Camino is a ute. A Ford Ranchero is a ute. Outside of those 2, the American market has never produced another ute vehicle. Utes were never popular here.

There are actually cameras that do record you running a red light. Some bigger intersections in Germany have those bc it's actually not even funny how many people are running reds and don't even care.
There is actually a system behind that.
1. A simple red will cost you 90€ and you get a penalty point (iirc at 8 you loose your license until you pass a re evaluation)
2. A red and actually bringing cars bike or peds in danger is like 200€ and two points. And you loose your license for a month
3. If you actually cause a crash it gets up to 240€.
If the red was on for more than a second this gets up to 360€.
Fun fact, of you are in the first two years after getting your license, it's kinda like a probation period, your time will get doubled to four years if popo catches you running a red light.

8:22 big American vehicles are called trucks/pickups, like the F150, Silverado or Dodge 1500, whilst anything that's a mid size pickup, as well as the utility variations of the Falcon and Commodore, are all known as utes. It's just pretty much slang Theo, don't sweat it on the details.

I ain't Australian, so I kinda get where Theo was coming from with the "ute" thing, as I myself normally associate with what are essentially normal cars turned into what are basically minitrucks, your Maloos and so on. But after knowing V8 Superutes is a thing, I come to understand that "ute" is just a general Australian term for any pick up where you can put stuff in the open back, if an F-150 also being called a "ute" is true. Because "Utility Truck", not that hard to comprehend.

I personally think that alot of diesels can actually sound pretty cool with an open and free flowing exhaust, especially if they are 5+ cylinder engines... For one IMO all streight piped trucks (heavy trucks to be specific) sound badass, and even something like an OM606 or streight piped mercedes e420 cdi sound really cool
im impressed by the diesel 5 cylinder rangers noise. if i had one id put that on it because diesel five cylinder sounds like it could be good because it would have some fuel economy in comparison to petrol 5 cylinders which get about 24mpg at least mine does.

The definition of a "ute" is when you have a 2 door trayback equivalent of a 4 door sedan.
