It's a southern gray tree frog, I've been in my house for 40yrs and never heard that noise in my life until this summer and I went NUTS trying to find out what kind of critter it was then one night four or five of them took over my aboveground pool and they chirped and chirped for weeks....pretty cool
@@GeeEmming Look up Atrazine...Thats the chemical surrounding all the Alex Jones 🐸🌈 memes. Also look up how much Glyphosate (from Roundup) is in peoples urine. Scary stuff!
The call was a gray treefrog (Hyla versicolor). They often hide behind gutter down spouts or under siding. Leave an outside light on at night and you might see one sitting nearby trying to snag some bugs.
Some folks, like my husband, are super fond of etymology - the origin of words and how they evolved. I love the amount of detail you put into the fins and into the baits themselves, they look amazing.
Back in my bachelor days I had a 150 gallon tank with a dozen piranhas. 8 red belly and 4 yellow belly. They grew to about 7 inches, give or take. At one point I had 3 breeding pairs. They usually weren't agressive towards people. I'd even clean the tank with my hand in with them. Couldn't do that when they were nesting. They turned black and would bounce against the glass to try and get to you. When I was feeling lazy I would toss in a frozen chicken breast and they would tear it apart. Feeding live goldfish was messy. Scales went everywhere. Ultimately I ended up getting rid of them since the tank was huge for my small house, it took a lot of maintenance and the tank and fish were all pretty ugly. *Edit* I remembered the name of the yellow piranhas. They were called caribe. The red bellies I bought from the local pet store when they were about 1". The caribe's I drove about 4 hours to pick them up from a private party. They were about 3" when I got them. None of them were illegal at the time. This would have been around 2000-2003.
I too had red belly piranhas in a 150 tank in the early 80's. They were beautiful fish with personality. I think at the time they cost 25.00 each and were the size of a quarter when purchased. Got bit once when they were small. Razor sharp teeth, never felt it. Cheers.
my boyfriend and i love to sit down and watch your videos together. he got really excited when he saw this one because the thumbnail looked so awesome. love your videos!
Make a saltwater fish that will be cool. Recommendations. These are fish I catch where I come from. Snook lure, red fish lure, mangrove snapper lure, sheep’s head lure or like a pin fish lure would be cool
Really been enjoying these videos, watched about 20/30 so far and thoroughly enjoyed them all. In fact you’ve inspired me to try my hand at making my own lure, almost done and nearly ready for paint. While it’s not even close to being as nice as one of your creations I’m still pretty happy with it, All in all it’s been a fun little project. Keep up the good work 👍 keen to watch more.
Been watching for a few years now. The music in this video was a very cool change. Great bait! Your paint jobs are always amazing. Thanks for all the yummy content. It's been cool to watch your channel grow! It's awesome to see your success.
It would be cool to see you get that mould working right, make a couple cast lures, and compare them to this one. I'd also love to see you do a Northern Snakehead.
Binge watching you again after this great lure.....and next was Bunker fish crankbait vid 13:40.....reminded everyone of when be free started .....and now I'm stuck thinking about Led fire fly lure.....you got this 💡
I‘m from Germany and I love your work on this channel. Just amazing. I wish I had one of your lures to hang it on the wall. Thanks for your great videos!
A while back you said you fancied the idea of bedding and working on rifle stocks. I can tell you for a fact that making lures is much more fun I can build a mean rifle, but lures are still a work in progress 😆
I think this is one of your best looking paint jobs yet! Your video also inspired me to go take out several wasp nests that have been terrorizing anyone attempting to go through our front door. 👍🏼
i used to watch your videos way back when but i never subscribed i was watching some river monsters and it reminded me of you and to find your channel i searched up "Man that makes his own lures" and i found you again! glad you still upload
Amazing bait as usual. The fun facts were fun aswell! I want to see this baits action with the lip. the paint job was cool looking. That bonus as nice to watch. Honestly I love the bonuses because it is more of the amazing content you create and make. On to the next bait!
Wondering if this is a true Marling Baits response or a scam....messaged you on Instagram, not sure you'll reply or not. Just bringing it to your attention if it isn't. Because that area code is from Pennsylvania not Iowa...just saying
Use what you have. I make functional lures out of essentially garbage. I made one out of some old vape cartridge I found, and it works just like a Got Cha lure. Surprisingly effective.
I found polycarbonate online with cool textures that would be worth making lips from. I really wonder if the "pebble" textured poly that i'm looking at could vary the action, and make a wobble search around a little more. A side by side with the same bait having a smooth lip would be worth a video imo
My man that's what be of the nicest paint jobs I've seen you do!! What a beauty!! That scale netting actually makes it look amazing and realistic!! Great work! 👌🎣
I love the content! You should do a video featuring your rod/reel/line combos for different size baits! Those of us that haven't been fishing long would love to see the rest of your gear!
Can you please do a Murray cod bait? I think it's such an awesome fish and it would have a very interesting fun facts section. Love these videos! keep up the great work!
Where did you learn your painting technique? I’m constantly impressed by you just knowing what color will do what to another color to get some crazy effects.
I know this might sound nuts, but it works to keep wasp from building a nest. Or at least it's work for everyone I know that has done it. Take a brown paper bag. Small one if you don't want it to be an eye-sore. Stuff it with some plastic bag so that it looks like a ball. Tie the bag shut and put one in each of those spots that you removed wasp nest from. The wasp will think that spot is already taken and they'll move on to somewhere else. I'm sure there's away to preserve your fake wasp nest. Heck, I bet you could use you paint rig to put a clear coat on it. Ofcourse you may not have to since those wasp were in the safest spot from the weather. Love your videos Marlin and yeah that bait has an intense front half. It might scare the fish. Lol Y'all have a great day. Blessings to you and yours.
Next time you have wasps. You should try to salvage the nest and, using some tweezers, get the larva out and soak them in a garlic oil over night. Trout absolutely love them. They work great for ice fishing as well if you can put them in a mason jar and keep them refrigerated. Fun tip to get back at some nasty wasps
Some species of fish can have quite a range of coloration, and in those cases usually the more colorful the fish is the more macho macho man fish it is. Your bait is like the Rambo of piranhas. They are also a popular sport and eating fish. Lovely bait.
Hello Marling! Thanks for your videos, I've been watching them for a while now and I love them. :) You inspired me, I also started carving wobblers. :D I really like the structure with which you melt the weight and pour it into the wooden fish. What kind of structure is it? How to do? Where can it be purchased? Thank you very much.
I am new to you channel and have only watched a hand full of your videos one think I have not heard you say is your name at least your first name. I believe you have a talent above anything else. I will be watching all of you videos from now on. Thanks
Hey Marling, what airbrush do you use for painting. I’m 15 and I have started making baits and just got my first successful functioning squarebill with a jig saw and dremel. All I need now is the ability to paint it.
not sure if you have one but have you considered a pressure pot/vacuum chamber for your resin castings? i'm not sure how well it'd work on an enclosed silicon mold like that but with other resin crafts (the transparent stuff) it can get rid of bubbles! you could also try de-bubbling the silicon before you pour it? another thing i've heard is that pouring the resin slowly from a great height may help with de-bubbling! rybonator should have some great videos on working with resin :D
The Latin names and the structures that go with them, as well as being fascinating for their origins, meanings etc are also part of a great system of scientific understanding. The classification system often shows links between things you never knew were there, for what would seem to be totally different species. On a practical level (for example in fishing), it could allow you to make connections with habitats, apply fishing techniques in different locations, or just give you a feeling of deeper understanding with the bit of nature you've chosen to focus on. Also, pee-rah-nah is funny. 😂

YES, do a gray tree frog bait!

That paintjob is killer! Your lures are functional art.

I think you need to do and Arctic Grayling! Such a cool looking fish should be a good challenge for carving and painting
I'm dying laughing at the music you're using while painting. Incorporating the bird noise into it is hilarious!🤣
thats one of the best paint jobs you have ever shown and that eye is so money! Like you planned it that way.
