I listened till the end of the clip, confirming my initial response to these two wonderful guitars. To me, the Hanika HE standard sounds more like a country singer’s voice, natural and unaffected, rich and sustained. The custom one sounds like a more trained singer, powerful but a bit muffled. Listening to the first guitar, you feel like you’re walking along a country road, while listening to the second guitar, you feel like you’re in the music hall. Fine guitars, different feelings.
I would say both sound to bright, grating, nasal and need to be warmer. We have gained something but also lost something in moving from the traditional fan braced guitars. I hope some luthiers begin to combine the strength and projection these guitars have with the sweetness and warmth that the fan braced guitars have.
Both Guitar's sound outstanding, I'd love to play them or even hear them in person because as good as my headphones are & they do sound amazing but playing & listening isn't they same as just listening, but you play beautifully 👏👏👏
if i had to guess I would think the first one was the custom one. for some reason the second one (the actual custom guitar) sounds warmer and refined. very nice!
I prefer the first, the standard. Clear beautiful warm sound. The custom has some sharper less controlable sound. Does me think on pianist who doesn't use pedal correctly.
*_I like the "Custom" one better just a little better in terms of clarification, and sustainable sound, But one thing that I regretted is I can not afford either one_*
I continue to listen to this video in particular just to hear Cim play his own compositions... Cim, can you please post a recital of you just playing your pieces on many different guitars at Siccas?
The custom guitar seems to have a more Torres-like lyrical quality to my ear particularly in the higher registers (the carbon?) but only just. Both loud as would be expected. Too loud for me.
The 2nd guitar is more powerful, with a far richer sound and seems more effortless for projecting in a big hall. Nevertheless, the 1rst one is a very good d.t guitar, balanced and with a warm sound. Regards from Athens !
If you play the begginings of both guitars, you can easily hear that the second one is more "powerfull" and has a sharper tone, while the first one is a bit softer and has a warmer tone. Even though he cant play the same both times there are still audable differences.
Firstly, when you put the Mic that close we get no idea of what the true sound is like to the audience, it's far too close to make an accurate assessment of "PROJECTION", it needs to be are least 20 meters away. What we hear is a timbre difference, the extra lattice model sounds fuller in transient frequency response but the first guitar sounds less like a piano and more like a guitar. Clara Clayton. This effort to make the guitar something it is not is truly losing the point of the beauty of the instrument. Nothing sounds like a guitar, why copy a piano?
The sustain is incredible on the second one. You could play a note, go out for a bite, and it will still be ringing when you return.
I prefer the second guitar. The bass and overtones are more pleasing to my ear.
The second guitar had more of a ring and crispness... really enjoyed it. Cim, I love hearing your compositions, they are so fulfilling!!

This young fellow plays beautifully. Both guitars sound great so I would choose the one with irregular rosette. It also seems a bit more sonorous.
Hey Cim - Great playing, as always! Such lovely instruments.
The first one is my favorite !
Unpopular opinion, but the custom sounds too loud and grating. The first guitar is much warmer and even tempered.

Both are excellent instruments, understandably the custom being noticeably more significant.
Super film ! :)
Prefer the tone of the double top, but i love how powerful and clear the custom one is. If i had to pick that would be a problem.
I love the of that guitars with carbon in the top, it grants a lot more harmonics and sustain in the sound, and a really great projection too
Both sound great but if you would like to send the one you don't like as much I wouldn't refuse it!😊

Yes, there is a subtitle difference, and I had to jump around the video to hear that.
Liked the subtle yet noticeable sustain on the custom...both the guitars are beautiful though...and wonderful playing as well....
the vibrato this man does is so sweet

Nice comparison. I like the first one.

The one with carbon has too much projection for my taste. It seems louder too. I prefer the softer tone of the traditional carbon free guitar.
What is the name of the first piece of music? It's wonderful!
The custom guitar seems to have a more Torres-like lyrical quality to my ear particularly in the higher registers (the carbon?) but only just. Both loud as would be expected. Too loud for me.
Deux magnifiques guitares!
Btw, what is the name of the first music piece??
Double top custom has better separation of bass and treble notes and sweeter tone.
The 2nd guitar is more powerful, with a far richer sound and seems more effortless for projecting in a big hall. Nevertheless, the 1rst one is a very good d.t guitar, balanced and with a warm sound. Regards from Athens !
Only $6500 USD. That's probably not a bad price. Would like to hear them in person.
Friends! Could you please tell me the title of the first and second pieces of music!?
First one is Purple Ash, second is Murmuring Oak by Cim Frode
@@cimfrode спасибо Друг!
Sorry, I can't hear any difference. Maybe my ears are not trained enough. Your playing is wonderful.

Che marca di chitarra stai utilizzando?
Nel video dice HE doubletop e HE doubletop custom, penso HE stia per Hanika He. Sono due chitarre diverse e ne sta comparando il suono
Sorry, but I like the first one!!
Both sounded crisp and new to me. I’d love to be in the same room hearing them, then I’d (possibly) hear the difference. Then, in ten years.....
Forgive me but the standard guitar sounded more alive and smoother..

first one
Tradicional guitar is much better.
second!
Blah. All double-tops sound like chimey gut-less tinkle-boxes.
