Geniusas really gets this music. He doesn't overplay and he is sensitive to its ends of phrases. I'm amazed at how he uses in 5th fingers with legato lines and chords . He has figured out a lot-technicalkyxand musically. Fantastic player great Chopin player!
I love how it mellows out briefly at 4:38; where most performers I've heard proceed with full grandiosity and bombast, the almost melancholy interpretation in this moment took my breath away.
he is playing it like a real BALLADE! a story with various details and developments........ its one of the greatest, most dramatic, most passionate and above all: most congenius interpretations EVER: fantastic!
Last time I was here this video had around 13k views, now sit at over 50k, glad to see Lukas is is increasing in popularity/likability, he truly deserves it, a very unique pianist!
This "Presto con fueco" breaks me in a thousand pieces, it's perfect, the rubbato, everything is perfect, I've never felt this sensation when listening to others interpretations.
No, you aren't the only one. Actually, my heart has been ripped apart from the very first note to the very last. What an extraordinary pianist he is!! Thanks for the recommendation.
Melodious Heart you are most welcome, the day I found out about him was one of the best days in my life he is my favorite pianist currently, amazing artistry and impeccable technique.
Best performance of this piece I've seen so far! I am currently learning this piece and I love this interpretation of it. Taking a lot of inspiration from him and wish this guy all the best.
Great. Really. He's one of those virtuosos whose virtuosity doesn't distract me fron the art it enables him/her to express. I'm sure there are many people to whom that's meaningless but it's very important to me. Maybe there's a better way to put it.
Just coming back here after the second round of the Chopin competition. Although I'm not very knowledgeable about classical music, there's really something about Lukas Geniusas's playing that I could not explain. I'm not sure if it's just preference but I just keep coming back to his previous performances. Aside from this performance, I like also his Sonata performance in the third stage.
Love this interpretation! The clarity is great, the tone is wonderful, even though the moderato in the beginning is kinda too fast for me, after all this version is really well-played. Great emotion and no exaggerated movements. Great job!
Because this is his performance at the first stage. It has nothing to do with the prizes. You don't get first prize at competitions for playing one piece well.
3:27 That fuc*ing phone, can't you have the delicacy of turning off your phone? It can cost the player the competition if he looses focus because of that sound ffs
My honest opionion about him is he plays the first theme way too fast and plays ritardando at inapproriate moments during the coda and throughout the piece.
Personally I think he has a great emotional understanding. Yes, he is a little speedy at the introduction but that is his interpretation and it's consistent within the entire piece. He tells a great story which a lot of pianists forget when playing this ballade.
So you feel better slowly, and he doesnt. That means you have more "emotional understanding" than him? What is your formation in music? Since WHEN playing anything slowly is synonymous with emotion? Do you think Argerich isnt great enough for playing everything a little faster, for instance? Thats ridiculous, everyone has their own sense of interpretation and you cant judge others feelings by the way you feel about a particular piece.

That’s what makes this so unique, he accentuates the tragedy in this section
A great story teller on the piano. His lines/phrases are soooo long, he never gets lost in details, it all serves the phrasing/the story

7:39 the whole Presto con fuoco have great use of rubato!! I love it!
The best interpretation of first ballade in all 2010 chopin competition!

He plays almost like Richter. I recognized it from the very first note. Admirable!
the coda ??
@@themoroccanpianist8953 yes!
Just say coda 💀
I need this specific rendition to be put on spotify or something of that regard.
6:20 - 6:25 The way he picks out all the notes here is just beautiful
Tal cual.. opino lo mismo
Am I the only one whose heart has been ripped apart by how he played 8:25?
I felt something I have never felt before
Incredible performance!

Na vdd eu achei meio estranho.
I noticed that too! His interpretation of this part is somehow different. Love it.
WHAT INCREDIBLE PIANO TECHNIQUE!!!...and what interpretation..
i think that is the best play ive ever heard before, is so passional, congrats lukas!
Un maestro, un genio, di nome e di fatto... L'ho ascoltato anche dal vivo. Talento autentico.
🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️❤️

100% agree. I feel like pianists who tend to exhibit their technical abilities tend to lose their personal touch. Lukas is immune to that!

Wspaniały talent ! Prawdziwie Mistrzowski Poziom !!! Podziwiam z wielkim szacunkiem .....
Great talent! A truly master level!!! I admire it with great respect
Echter Chopin, wundervoller, kraftvoller Anschlag!!! Bravo!!!!!
I listened to this version so many times that now I expect the cough at 7:09 as it was a part of the piece.
LUKAS, IS JUST A WONDERFUL OF BEAUTY EXPRESSED THROUGH MUSIC, HE HAS EVERYTHING ONE COULD WISH FOR IN A MUSICAL POET.

Amazing performance. Very emotional!
Oh, wow! Great interpretation!
most underrated video in this channel
Crystal- clear playing ; it carries one to heaven . Who can be compared with the GREATNESS OF CHOPIN!!!
8:31 that finger karate
Incredible control!
My favourite Chopin's composition and my favourite interpretation.
Magnificent rendition!
one of the best
His last name is Geniusas for a reason. Wonderful!
Wow! That was OUTSTANDING!!
미쳤어... 너무 좋아요 ㅠㅅㅠ)/♥
How beautiful THIS is?
Great... Bravo.......
No words!
Прекрасно!
This rendition is right up there with the likes of Zimmerman. Nearly identical, by far the greatest piano piece ever written.
Kiek emocijų! Bravo!
Ah..... so beautiful and great performing!!! Where is he? ......
He's still around, recently put out a new Chopin CD with the record label MIRARE, definitely worth checking out!
Amazing performance..... He was dripping sweat all over the keys lol
A very tough guy with a tough piece to prove to the judges. Did not he get the second prize after all?
Yes, he got it!
Он знает все о Шопене ❤
Nathan, l agree with you!!
Nuostabu!
This is Geniušas
I dont understand why he get the second price????
Because this is his performance at the first stage. It has nothing to do with the prizes. You don't get first prize at competitions for playing one piece well.
バラ1はダントツでこの人が好み。
Bravissimo…
why
오랜만에 왔네...24.9.7
This is the first recording of this piece I've heard that's been on par with the Your Lie in April rendition. Truly masterful

5:12 measure 130
5:34 measure 150
5:18 measure 136

damn he has strong fingers
My honest opionion about him is he plays the first theme way too fast and plays ritardando at inapproriate moments during the coda and throughout the piece.
Yuzuru
Rikkyyy Y KIMO
awesome, but nobody will ever top zimmerman
I think this interpretation is equal to or better than Zimmermann
@@AK47_414 They are very different. I prefer this one too
It bothers me when people rush the beginning. I really don’t like it.
He has the technical skills, but lacks the emotional understanding.

Numerous world-class judges saw him worthy of 2nd prize in the two biggest competitions in the world, yeah...definitely lacks understanding...
He's playing his version of Chopin. If you dont like it thats fine its your opinion but its you that doesnt understand his Chopin.
So you feel better slowly, and he doesnt. That means you have more "emotional understanding" than him? What is your formation in music? Since WHEN playing anything slowly is synonymous with emotion?
