This area will be more and more investigated in the coming decades . Are there any novels talking about or imagining the plight and lives of brilliant women before 1950 or 1900 . Descartes had a brilliant sister as did Mendellssohn,Schumann's wife composed but supported herself through concertizing and teaching . Quiet pursuits like maths,philosophy ,painting have been almost impossible for women to even gain notice.-this situation . Upbringing can allow unfettered , brilliant minds to develop but before the 1970's where were these women allowed to do anything .
