I guess you hear this a lot, but your slow, clear and careful way of pronouncing words, paying attention to every sound, and repeating words several times is a blessing for some of us who are genuinely interested in your language. I really like your commitment and patience. Also, it's nice that there is no noise or background music, just your voice repeating words and silence in between.
ow thanks for your feedback, I'm glad to see these videos are useful now^^ Reading everyone's comments really help us improve our videos. We used to have loud music in the background and say words way too fast haha^^
@@Street_French Music or no music, i love them all! The "silent" ones just my favorite since they are intimate and make you concentrate solely on the sounds of French. Thanks for your kind reply and thanks for your effort, it is a daily treat to learn something new with you. Cheers and stay safe these days
@@danicababic2264 ow thank you so much :)) glad you enjoy our company via video form haha hope you're ok too, stay safe!
Other french cheeses I often see in the American Stores:
- Délice de Bourgogne (Costco)
- Boursin (Costco, Publix)
- Fromager d'Affinois (Costco, Wholefoods)
- Saint-André (Costco, Publix, Wholefoods)
- Neufchâtel (Wholefoods)
ah cool thanks for these :):)
"How can you govern a country that has two hundred and forty-six varieties of cheese?"
troglodyte01 Charles DeGaulle said that 😊
You have to be named after a cookie to take on that roll!!
haha :)
How can you not???? 😂😂
Number has grown!
Thank you so much. Im studying for my cheesemonger certification test and all the names were running together because i wasnt sure how to pronounce them. Youre a goddess!
Glad it helped!
I love these videos, my pronunciation has improved so much because of these lol. 😃🧀
ow cool I'm so glad to hear that :))
You have officially become my favourite French youtuber 🤗💜
aaah merci :):)
This is so incredibly helpful. My French is becoming so much better just by listening to you speak. Thank you so much!
I've not spoken any French since I did my G.C.S.E. exam (UK) 20 years ago. Your channel has reminded me just how much I really enjoyed learning French. Thanks to you, I now have the extra boost that I needed to resume my interest in learning French. I intend to dig out my old textbooks, and, as we now have so much access to free learning on the internet (it was slow, expensive and pretty useless 20 years ago), you have motivated me to take the leap, and immerse myself in Français once again.
Merci Beaucoup. 😄👍
aw that sounds great! glad we helped :))
love this channel. Found it while trying to brush up on my french, which I only learnt through listening to french pop and disco music lol. cimer ^^
aw cool glad you enjoy our vids :)):))
🌻🦋🌻 what a great channel. So I grew up from baby till around 6 in Paris. Omg. I cud listen to u all day with each passing year more n more buried memories of Paris re surface. The smells the sounds n beautiful lights in the city. I am truly stuck in a Paris dream 4 ever. Thank u this channel is like home!! 😘💙🦋🙏🏼🦋🦋💙🌸
aww what a sweet comment thanks :) it means a lot ! :):)
voice of an angel♥️
I’m just learning French. I love your pronunciation. ☺️
I'm amazed how many cheeses there are! Every time I go to Port Grimaud on holiday I try a different one.....it's going to take me over 100 years to try them all!!!
My fave one is in my name.....
I always enjoy these videos, please keep making them :)
haha :) thanks!
Looking forward to all your new videos. Très bon!! 😊
Aw merci :)
Loved it! These are so helpful!
Glad it was helpful!☺☺
Gruyère and Port Salut are my favorites.
Love love your video thank you ! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oh yess!! I love this method and also the fact that you are native speaker and from Paris. I really needed this but still to have a proper conversation face a face. But this is already wonderful!!
ah really glad you enjoy this series! I'll definitely make more of those :):)
@@Street_French Thank you.
J’aime beaucoup tes vidéos. Après six ans aux états unis, j’ai un accent anglophone quand je parle français que j’avais pas avant. Ça doit avoir quelque chose avec les muscles de la langue/bouche. Continues les vidéos sur la prononciation et grand merci !
ah c'est intéressant ^^ et merci pour le commentaire!
fun to watch and learn, merci!
de rien ! :)
Excellent program 👍👍👍
thanks! 😊
Thank you so much 🙏🏻
These are great videos! If love to see one on French perfume brands and French perfume names.
ah great idea! :):)
Great idea!! I love perfumes, still i would love this!!
Excellent. So glad to finally pronounce tomme correctly.
very relaxing voice. i love your videos
merci ! :)
It would be nice to learn the difference of taste among them all.. Thank you so much please upload more videos like this
ah yeah good idea :) thanks!
Camembert is my favourite ❤️
Give me a good aged red wine and cheese and you make me the happiest man in the world.
I’m probably a little french inside without knowing it 😂
I enjoy all of your episodes. They are so informative! While I realize your specialty is spoken French, I was wondering if you could do an episode on closing salutations in French. When I send emails in English, I say “Very truly yours”, “Best wishes” and sometimes “Best” depending on my familiarity with the recipient of the email. Recently I was corresponding with a French person in a business matter, and the closing salutations I found on the internet seemed too formal. Thank you!
ah yeah good idea :) I could make a video on "business french"
Merci!! la tomme de savoie is my favorite too! :)
:):)
Je n'aime fromage mais j'aime ce vidéo! I learnt a lot French from this channel!
ah cool, glad to hear that :)
I love your videos
merci!
Hey great video. I needed to know how to pronounce Emmental so thanks for that :). I'd really appreciate it if you could give the pronunciation too Pave Ocre as well ! Thanks so much again :)
You're so easy to listen to. Merci beaucoup. Cheese (I mean Cheers) from Lebanon!
Thanks! 😃 hahaha ^^
It would be nice if you could comment on how the different cheeses taste.
ah great idea ! ^^
Of course 😊
:) :)
Love ur french 👍🏻
Aw merci :)
Munster is quite strong so make sure to have it vacuum-packed for you in the shop before taking it on a flight!
ah yeah true! also keep it in a good zip lock bag in the fridge... lol
Would have thought this cheese was German, like the German city. Guess not.
I liked it very much.
ah cool :)
Merci ! Comté et Gruyère sont mes favoris 😋 Mais je veux essayer la Tomme de Savoie 🧀
ah oui le comté c'est trop bon!
Le Salers, dans ma région on prononce le "s" final.
I haven’t even heard of most of these cheeses. I feel deprived. One day, when I can make it back to France, I’ll have to make an effort to try more!
ah yeah if you can try as many as you can :))
Merci 🙂
de rien :)
Le roquefort is actually pronounced roqu-E-fort in the village of roquefort (in the South West of France). But it’s so much a National cheese that even the adds say roqu’fort the « standard » way!
Merci
de rien :)
Cool! Thanks for the video and the pronunciations :) a lot of cheese !!!
you're welcome :)
Amazing idea to pronounce all those things
crottin means dropping (like goat dropping, shit), that's why you always say "crottin de Chavignol" to make sure you're talking about the cheese and not about turds.
hahaha :)
Your English is great!
merci :):)
It's good that this is only "part 1," because my favorite French cheese, Ossau-Iraty, is missing! I hope it will be included in the next cheese episode.
Emmental and Gruyère are actually Swiss cheeses. Gruyère is from la Suisse romande, to be sure, but still. 😄
:)
Yes, they are Swiss :)
¡Merci madamemoiselle!
de rien☺
C’est très délicieux xxxxx
:))
God bless you, woman. I have an interview tomorrow morning with someone who happens to be a French cheese aficionado (actually, an expert in all things French). I've already watched your pastry pronunciation video and will probably be up half the night watching your channel, moving on to wines next...at this point I don't even care if I get the position, I just don't want to look like a total ass and make the guy cringe. THANK YOU!!!
ah I'm glad to hear that this video was helpful!! hope you're interview went well :))
also my favourite: langres :)
Fun fact about Germany and French cheese: The most popular "French" cheese in Germany is a white cheese (like Camembert or Brie, but oval shaped) by the name of "Géramont". It is made in France, but supposedly nobody in France knows it and no real French person would even eat it, because it has barely any taste to it.
In France we have a cheese named "Caprice des dieux" (whim of the gods), it's oval, it looks like camenbert or brie, but... it has no smell or taste.
In fact, it's more like an industrial product than a real cheese. I've never understood why it still exists :)
Hi Maya, Could you tell me if saying 'fais-moi...' sounds patronizing in French?
J'adore aussi le Saint Nectaire et le Salers.
Mais le meilleur fromage de tous (à mon avis) est le Saint Marcellin.
Au lait cru, bien sûr.
ah oui trop bon :)
When I was a kid there was an advertisement on french TV 《Le Roquefort d'abords, le Roquefort d'accords!! 🧀👍》
haha :):)
merci beaucop
Very mild manner ... not at all scary ... easier to learn from you!
Unfortunately, I'm lactose intolerant so I can't try all these wonderful french cheeses unless they have started making lactose free versions ...
So does Roquefort stand for hard rock?
Is there a list that says the noun gender of the different types of cheeses? I never know whether to use le or la.
for anyone who likes scary shows, on netflix there is a new scary show called "marianne" and it's completely spoken and filmed in french. it's a REALLY good show.
ah yeah Charlie loves that show! :)
Thanks. Where's the part 2 ?
ah it's not done yet, but we have many other ones like pronouncing French wines, champagnes, cities, dishes etc...
Vous avez un très beau cou. C'est très joli😊
J'adore le Cantal.
Par contre, je jamais goûté le Brie de Melun. Il est pas facile de trouver.
ah oui je comprends
love cheese, some of those look well tasty . . I'm with you on the blue cheeses, yuk
haha^^
I like French cheese, my favorite is tendre character ,saint nectare
:)
How do you pronounce cheese which is local in Annecy, France.. It was something like "Ghobloshonn.... "
Hi, what accent does Google translate? I use Google to translate
Wow
:)
J'ai toujours aimé manger tant de variétés du fromage. Jeg peux recommander Red Windsor - un fromage rouge, pas bleu! Il contient un bordeau et aussi de cognac. Un fromage favoris, c'est Chaumes, qui est unique à mon expérience. Je voudrais écouter le nom de la ville d'origine, qui s'appelle Saint Antoine de Breuilh. La vache!
ah cool ! :):)
Emmental and Gruyère are Swiss cheeses?
How do you pronounce "Bleu de Gex"? Do you hear the "x" at the end of "Gex"?
I am unsure, because there are two villages near Lac Léman, Bex and Bernex, and they are pronounced differently. When pronouncing Bernex the x at the end is pronounced, whereas Bex is pronounced with a silent x.
In the next one can you include goat cheeses (chèvre)?
ah yeah ok :)
A noter que l'emmental peut se prononcer aussi "emm-un-tal" (je l'entends plus souvent comme ça, d'ailleurs)
ah oui c'est vrai :)
@@Bernytheplayboy J'y ai habité pendant plus de 30 ans, alors peut-être une habitude familiale...
Roquefort is far and away my favourite cheese.
ah cool ! :)
Hé ! How could you omit the Reblochon ?
haha next time ^^
Omg. Ive been pronouncing Gruyere right all along. Even though I never knew how to pronounce it. Its kind of surprising how many people said that it was "Gru-yay" not "Gru-year".
aww interesting^^
Hi, I love your channel, however have you considered to make it only in French? with as minimum English as possible.
hi :) we have different types of videos lessons are in english so everyone can understand, and we have vlogs that are totally in french or half french/ half english for comprehension :)
would love to do more vlog types of videos but the subtitles part takes too much time for now :/// and I know it's not interesting or helpful without french and english subtitles . but our instagram is all in French. we write and speak in French there :)
Hello Maya from the US, I hope I spelled your name right🤔. can you make a video explaining french vowels & letters that don't sound like they look. Thanks
Hi :)
What kind of vowels or letters are you talking about? If interested we have a full e-course on French pronunciation and there's a discount this weekend for black friday :))
Check it out on our website : www.StreetFrench.org
and yeah almost, it's Maïa haha
@@Street_French
Hi Maïa, (see I'm paying attention 😁 )anyway an example of what I mean is Quand, the way you pronounce the word it would be spelled Con in Spanish which means With, in English there isn't any way to really spell that sound so as I analyze it I guess the D is silent. Another example is Melun but again my only way I can make sense of it is the E sounds like a U & the U sounds like an O so it would be spelled Mulón. So next video pretend we are all 2 year olds and sing us our ABC's please. Yes I will check out your courses because clearly I would never be able to order anything from a menu when I come to France without a tutor. Je vous remercie💜
I have some cheese called Emmentaler. It must be a version of Emmental.
oui c'est ça :)
emmental come from france or swizerland , emmantaler is the same but from german countries
Hélas, vous avez laisser tomber « Port-Salut ». C’était LE SEUL fromage que je connaissais quand je suis arrivé en France en 1961. alors (et toujours) je le prononçais PORTE-SALUT. personne ne me corrigeait pas alors…
Votre petit vidéo est très très aimable et utile. Epoisse m’a toujours troublé comme parole difficile par example.
Et vos examples sont très efficaces pour nous anglo-phones.
merci encore.
This video is very nice.Your efforts were best.I just want you to speak loudly because I couldn't be able to hear you properly. Please make changes in that. And yes!Learning languages in lockdown is fun!I learn many languages like Italian, Spanish, French,Malayalam and Marathi.Anyways take care of your health and safety.Keep smiling.God bless you.
Regards
Sunita
ah thanks for your comment! and yes I'll make sure to speak louder next time :)
Thanks!
I should have used the word 'compliment', meaning to praise someone, rather than 'complement', which means to do something that partially gets the job done, helping others with their task.

Hello, are you french?
Do you have a video about the French vowel sounds?
By the way, I am watching the video now, you know how to teach.
Hi :) yes I'm French and no we don't have a video on youtube about that but we have a full e-Course on everything you need to know about French pronunciation (all the vowels, consonant etc...).
it's on our website www.streetfrench.org
ossau iraty
Why are some names ending with -er pronounced é, and some err?
Emmental is Swiss: :P
love from malaysia 😘😘
u so lovely 😁😁
La mimolette est mon fromage préféré! (Yes I used google translate 😭)
haha it's ok ^^
@@Street_French But now I can say it with confidence!
Bonjour.
L'Epoisses .
x
:)
Like 4 streetfrench ASMR
haha :)
Varieties of cheese divided by number of cheeses in this video minus one equals fifty-nine potential videos in the future!
Also if you want to eat as much cheese as a Frenchmen you just need to eat about 71 grams a cheese every day, about the weight of a third of a cup of water. You can do it!
hahaha thanks for the math on this one! :):):)
@@Street_French Thanks I really like your editing on this one ;)
like for Mrs S. Eglinton lesson
You missed my favourite French cheese of all time - Gaperon. C'est le roi des fromages (à mon avis).
haha ah j'ai jamais entendu parler de ce fromage. C'est de quelle région?
C'est un fromage de l'Auvergne. Sa pâte à la texture plutôt friable est aromatisée à l’ail frais et au poivre.
C'est aussi un nom avec quelques caractéristiques de prononciation intéressantes.
I enrolled in your program, ´Swearing in French ´but can’t seem to access it other than for a few sentences.
Hope it is not a scam.
ow it's not working? Sorry for that, usually there's no problem.
the thing you're talking about is not a program it's an e-book you can download as a pdf . it's called "swearing like a parisien".
Feel free to send us an email at info@streetfrench.org and we'll send it to you if you're still experiencing any problem :)
I was really focusing on the vowel sounds and their pronunciation.
Why is the "u" in Munster sound more like "ai" sound???
I don't really know maybe it's word from germany ? it's not really french
💓 🧀 Fromage 💗
:)
