- Recorded at the 10th anniversary show. Featuring Dave Vanian (vocals), Rat Scabies (drums), Bryn Merrick (bass) and Roman Jugg (guitar).
"Love Song" was the opening song on their seminal album "Machine Gun Etiquette" (1979).

Brilliant - I was living in Finsbury Park at the time they did these two all-dayers and went to sit outside and listen - couldn't afford a ticket! - heard the Fall and the Electric Bluebirds do their sets - can't remember if I stayed on the park bench long enough for the Damned!
Wow good video. I saw them live in early 86. I remember I enjoyed the concert. They played so many of their classics along with their newer songs at the time such as shadow of love and Eloise. Dave Vanian looked great and had so much stage presence

The DAMNED my 2nd most favorite band of all time with MOTORHEAD being number 1.
Roy Mullins saw em both for the first time in 87 and I was never the same again.
They're definately two of the greatest bands of all time !
Machine Gun Ettiquette.. What a brilliant album. From Love Song thru to Melody Lee it is a sheer locomotive demolition ride of 4 great songs. Also love their reworking of MC5's Looking At You. I read somewhere that the opening words of the album "Ladies and gentlemen( how do u do)? is Albert Tatlock from Coronation Street. Not sure.. but I tell myself it's true.. makes me love the start of Love Song even more!
Danny Miles...it is true about Albert Tatlock(Jack Howarth).The Damned just,uh,'borrowed' it from an album he had been on.....a play/reading a story/that sort of thing.Recently confirmed by Captain.

@@dannymiles6503 Yeah,I remember first hearing about it when the MGE came out but could never get it confirmed.I thought for a long time that he had done it specially for The Damned(hahahahaa) and have only recently found out that it was lifted from another album.Great stuff.
@@vortex63 Yes me too. I thought he did it especially for the band too Lol! That voice of his is a great intro as the guitar comes in and then that stunning powerful bass before it all explodes into sheer chaos. For me, those first 4 songs are brilliant. I really love Melody Lee. Theres no song of theirs better than that. Its so short because any more would dilute its beauty. Its my fave album of theirs too. Thanks for inspiring me to comment on this album. I bought it on the day of its release.
