I have a really ugly chain link fence around my back yard and I trellis my cucumbers along the fence to hide the ugly thing!🥒🥒🥒 It provides a little privacy too.

I usually plant my cucumbers next to my caged tomatoes and they use tomato vine and cages to grow up along their tomato friends. My dad used to plant cukes and climbing beans along his garden fence too. By the end of summer he had a green leafy looking fence full of goodies.

I got mine sprawling and a little bit of trellis action but mostly sprawling and they’re doing fantastic I do have some rocks on the ground that I use to kind of prop up some of the vines off the ground a little bit not all the way off the ground the entire thing but maybe put a rock here and there to keep the vine off the ground sort of

My 2nd round got to sprawl on the ground, but suffered a lot of slug and mouse damage to the fruit. Still edible but a bit unsightly. My 3rd round is growing up a price of fencing attached to 2 t posts. I like the pickling ones much more than the slicing ones. They are more tender and crisp and e skin is a lot more easy to digest so no peeling needed. That’s what I’ll be growing exclusively probably next year.

But how do the bees find the flower if they are covered by leaves if you plant on the ground. Shouldn't we trim leaves for air and bee's?
