A tip for repeat use of screw holes in plastic. When you screw in the second time (and subsequent times) start by screwing backwards until you feel the old thread, this will prevent creating another thread and stripping the old one.
This is cool man, when reading your comment on printables yesterday i had no clue you did youtube.
I loved watching someone bring my creation to live! Thanks!
"The host gasps" hahaha I lost it.
design of this thing is genuinely neat
man, those are some ancient pc parts
3d printed 1U or 2U rack "computer" with tons of hotswap disk ports would be "a thing"!
That was great! Channeling your inner tech-tip Canadian but without the drops and shoutout to LTTstore haha
"a little bit different... but kind'a the same"
This is really cool! I'm working through a custom 3D printed case design as well and it is great seeing these types of projects get the coverage they deserve!
The reason that 3D printed cases aren't as common is there are some inherent issues. It all comes down to grounding. The components in your PC are very susceptible to interference and power spikes, a metal PC case forms a Faraday cage creating a barrier between any interference on the outside and the inside, if you look at cases from HP and Asus that have glass windows they have a special coating and are grounded to the case. If you open up an old plastic laptop you will see a silver paint on the inside, this forms the conductive layer as the case being plastic is not conductive. The other issue you have (less so with ABS) is that blowing air across plastic parts can generate static electricity, it can build up an arc across to sensitive components. Finally electrical safety (regulations will vary country to country) unlike a laptop power supply a PC power supply is not double insulated. In the event of an accident you want the PC case to form a nice big path back to earth so it goes through the case and not you.
Nice, thx for the tip for the sharp corners 😊
Not even 24 hours and someone has done a remix to take heatset inserts
The OG cooler Master Evo
Nice video, but I would have loved to see a 3D printed case which could bolt behind the monitor in the VESA screw holes
"This computer has parts from when many of you weren't even born, and last checked will barely run Skyrim..." Ouch. Really making me feel my age there, Nero.
Oh, this is a fun idea. Might do that too if I build a mini PC.
0:56 "Hitachi magic wand Europe wire strain relief/ adapter."
I did not expect my models to show up on youtube😂
0:56 bottom corner 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@09:38 Me watching this on an RTX 4090 FE sporting 24GB 🤔 Crazy how little VRAM we had back then 🤨 Suddenly I'm being reminded of my Voodoo2 with 12MB of VRAM 🤣
Nice video! Might be good for pushing a true full 3D printed case for bringing new life in to old kit in an interesting way!
Damn, just got a work computer for designing 3d prints. That would have been perfect for the case.
Time for a rebuild. Any excuse will do.
no threaded inserts is a big oof
@05:50 Yes, let's build some printers in this case!
english is hard
I feel like some legs you can snap on for stability in a second color would go a long way
Watch out linus a new pc building channel is here 😂😂😂
Great video, still has the "nero-flavor" but feels like a hole new thing
Agree!
Cooler looks like a 212 evo. Iconic cooler.
I often wondered about doing something like a full custom case with direct air flow etc. optimum pc recently did a case with 3d print stuff to direct airflow. Back in the day they used to focus air with tubes etc then they stopped.
The custom case stuff or airflow path optimization is something Puget systems could/ should get into…
You call it bench, I call it “convertible” case 🤣
great for my mining rig
first thought ... i want that cap 😁
store.streamelements.com/nero3dp it can be yours today!
Def will print this once i get my Chiron working again (it was working but while doing some re-wiring i ripped off the USB connector and managed to rip one of the pads off during attempped re-solder)
Interesting case but needs a cover.
Very cool design and a fun project. I wonder if it would be worth retrying the ABS/ASA prints in the summer or maybe try an ASA filament that claims low warpage like Formfutura ApolloX.
Would be cool if you could hang it on a wall some what out of the way of everything that could bump into it.
I would love that and heat serts👌
Thanks for sharing this cool print, make more vids like this like to see what you find
Looks like a Hyper 212 cooler.
Wonder if usung esd safe filiment would be useful here
Put the motherboard on the test bed so you're not smashing things on the back side of the board man..
I find it funny you saw the files in Printables (a Prusa website) and printed it all in a BambuLabs machine
ok and?
I have been using printables since way before the rebrand to print on my many non prusa printers. They rebranded away from PrusaPrinters specifically to change the perception that it was just for Prusa printers.
Are you one of the elitists who only print printables files on a Prusa, thingiverse files on an ultimaker, creality cloud files on an ender 3? If so, we're not worthy 😂.
@@CanuckCreator First and foremost... Hello! Never expected to get a reply!
Second, it was literally a snarky comment! no hostily whatsoever 😁
