To the pregnant mom with 3 l little kids: everything Lisa said really helps. I am 40+ weeks pregnant and have 3 kids ages 4 and under. Every room in my house can be reset in 2 minutes (except the kitchen, which MIGHT take up to 10). This is because, since I was about 4 months pregnant, I started getting ruthless about minimizing and creating systems for each space in my home. I do dishes instantly after they're used so we don't need more than we use in a day. I do laundry like Lisa- do it daily and it never piles up. We also store the little kids' clothes in a dresser by the laundry room/ their bathroom so dirty clothes are never going back to their rooms or upstairs. Toys are very very minimal. I use the built in shoe cubbies in my mud room as my "container." There are 6 small cubbies which limit toys to 6 small containers. All other toys are gone. They don't miss them.
Love these Q&A/solo episodes. I think the reason you get asked questions that you say you’re not very experienced in comes down to the connection to you. This is at least especially true for me. 5 people could make the same content, but I’m going to click with 1 or 2 of those even if they all say the same thing. So naturally I like to hear the thoughts of those 1 or 2 above the others due to personality or other factors that draw me to their personality. Thats not to say, you owe us all an answer to every question but I’ve been watching you for YEARS. Pretty much since you started so there’s just a different connection and trust built above others that may have more experience. This episode was very helpful!
I agree with what you are saying. I feel a connection with Lisa to the point that I don’t even seek out the advice of others on you tube. I realize I shouldn’t be like that but that’s how I feel about it.
@@TammyB-x2h yes and the way I see it, there’s so much information out there that it helps me to just have a limited amount of info coming at me. She’s a few steps ahead of me, we have similar views on life (from what she’s shared) and so it’s just simpler. And I’m not blindly following but I love to know someone that is similar to my way of life give their thoughts on things! Glad I’m not the only one!
😂 As a mother/homemaker for the past 30 years please remember it’s your home, not your guests’ home, so if people are coming over to see your home/things rather than the people that live there they should be uninvited. I attempt to keep a healthy home over a clean home because I want my family to practice organizational skills, but also love when we have company rather than dread the stress of excessive cleaning. Keep slice and bake cookies in the freezer and you’ll have a lovely treat for guests to sit down, chat, & yes a homemade treat without fuss. Keep a box or tub in the corner of rooms for quick throw in toys to easy clean up. I have extra couch covers so I can throw a new one on quickly so no one has to sit where the cats slept the night before when they visit. 😊
In Eastern Europe milk kefir has long been used in a multitude ways: in baking instead of buttermilk (biscuits, pancakes, muffins, etc.), to marinate meat or chicken, to soak grains overnight before cooking, in salad dressings or dips.

Our youngest of 7 is now 2 years old. She took a wrap nap on Sunday! She will nap on her own at home, but didn't start that until she was about 18 months old. We don't force it...they just do when they are ready...that's what works for us!! She still sleeps with me at night and will transition to her own bed in our room probably within the next year...ours are usually ok with being separate from me at night when they are about 3 years old.
My 16 month old sleeps better with me as well. I won't consider separating her right now because it's easy to soothe her back down. I'm tired enough to roll back to sleep. She's down for a few hours before her first wake.

As I prep for a vbac knowjng red raspberry leaf tea drinking throughout pregnancy might make me go overdue is very good to know, as providers become less supportive of vbac as you go late.
I never questioned myself about putting a baby in his crib . When I brought my kids home from the hospital, I put them in a bassinet at the end of the bed and I nursed them whenever they wanted it . Two weeks later, I moved him into their crib and their own room, and then whenever they wanted it in the rocking chair . Thats it! Done Baby is 16 now working on driving! 😊
One thing I’d love to hear about more is your homeschooling journey. I know that you have a very fun, supportive family/support system but I’d love to hear but you manage that, co-ops, extracurriculars. I know you have touched on these things and you don’t show your children often, but would love to hear your schedule and if you do a more play based schooling system, if that makes sense?

I’m on my 4th child and I’ve given up 😂. My first I slept trained at a 1.5 years because I felt like I was going nuts. My second started sleeping through the night at 3.5 years old on her own. My 3rd is still sleeping with us 😂. My 4th is only 3 months and is cosleeping. Honestly? Everyone should just do what works for them. For some, they sleep train at a few days old. Others (like my parents) let their kids sleep with them until 11 years old 😅. I slept with my parents waaaaaayyyy too long and I’m an independent well adjusted adult.
Our water is so bad here that we received a poison warning to not use tap water for consumption. We have been using filtered water for several years. Loved all the advice you have given.
This is my suggestion for the clutter and organization situation. At a certain point I realized I had a real problem with paper clutter, and I set a timer for 30 minutes after work each night and worked my way through it. It may very well be that you have all you can handle right now. I would just pick an amount of time, choose a room to start in, and make a little progress each day. It may help to first gather up the stuff you need to make decisions about. I also like having good places to donate stuff… this makes me much more willing to let things go. I primarily donate to a creative reuse project that provides supplies free to teachers, and an organization that supports women and mothers who have to start over. I have also donated to our night shelter, which needs everything for unhoused people moving into housing.

We love the solo q&as because we feel like you are an older sister giving advice to us. You mentioned how your sisters had kids after you and you taught them certain things that you had to learn alone woth your first. That's basically us right now learning from you! For the laundry, I accidentally have wayyy to many clothes for my kids this year. I thrifted some seasonal clothes for my kids and a few weeks later my sil came to my house with bags and bags of clothes from her son. But honestly, I kinda like it?? I have a pretty set laundry system, put clothes to wash and dry, next day I fold it and throw more clothes, a continuous cycle. But sometimes something happen and for a day or two I don't get to it, and before I used to get a bit overwhelmed since my kids needed the clothes. Now I keep the system going but if I ever miss a day or two my kids still have enough clothes to wear so I don't stress too much. I was a bit worried about the amount of clothes they had inside their closet and told my sil I might just donate the clothes she gave me, but now I am glad I kept them lol!
The sleep training part- You are doing GREAT. As someone who is firmly against the Cry it out method, this method that you do WORKS!! I have 4, and I have had to do this to because EVERYONE was miserable. As you said correctly, you know your child, and you know their cries and what is needed to be done in the moment.
To that first woman with the messy house, if you have a ruthless family member or friend, you might need to pay them to come over and help you. I was that person for my sister in law, she's very much in the same situation. It's easier to get started if you're working side by side with someone else! Body doubling...I believe that's called?
Mom of 4- i do the Ferber method at 1 & it’s chef’s kiss! I’ve never had to go in more than 3 times in one night & it’s never took more than 2 nights. All 4 of my kids are AMAZING, independent sleepers so I try to encourage any mama i meet to try it. It’s so amazing for my mental space & my marriage honestly. & like you said- at one you know that they don’t “need” to nurse whereas when i tried earlier with one of my kids i was always scared they had an actual need & would go back in & nurse to find out that they in fact just wanted to soothe 😂
For milk kefir.... my kids & I eat kefir & granola almost daily! I add mila (micro sliced chia) and home canned fruit filling into the kefir then top with sourdough granola

We used a modified baby wise method with our kids, "The No Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley and it helped tremendously. Our kids all slept around 8-10 hrs at night by 10 weeks old. I kinda combined baby wise, the baby whisperer and the no cry sleep solution to work for us. We had 7 kids and I am so thankful for sleep!
@@racheln4309yeah I think it depends more on the child than anything else. Our first slept through the night by 10 weeks without doing anything special. Our second didn’t. 🤷♀️
I tried the no-cry Pantley method with my first four and it never worked. I didn’t even bother with my fifth. I think genetics and personality play a big role in whether sleep training is possible or not. For us, it just wasn’t possible.
Milk kefir is our favorite food, for the past year or more. We often go thru a gallon a day, and that's only five of us! But we're on the GAPS diet, so there's a lot of other foods we don't eat. We just strain it, blend it for smoothness, chill, pour into cups and add liquid stevia. Sometimes i make a smoothie but I don't care to most of the time. It's just so good like this. I occasionally add vanilla powder and then it taskes like ice cream. I love the creamy part on top of the jar and my son likes the liquidy part at the bottom. I usually have a glass of it after lunch and dinner and sometimes breakfast. I really crave it 😋
For milk kefir - you can make kefir cheese, use the grains to make sour cream, and I use it in curries and sauces (I add at the end to not lose the probiotic benefits).
Oh, also on the Room Rescue idea, it’s fun to set up your phone and film the cleaning (10 min-30min) in time-lapse speed. Little kids find it so fun & funny to see the room get speed-cleaned! I’ve done that at friend’s houses when we’re working with kids on learning to clean rooms- and the worse disaster it is at the beginning, the more fun it is to see it get cleaned! Then we usually sit down, read a story, have a snack , and enjoy the progress we made! I’ve showed them the clip of Mary Poppins tidying up the nursery & it makes it seem more fun!
Afterpains! Hope this helps someone: I have learned that my body needs calcium and magnesium for afterpains-but especially calcium. I keep up carefully on dairy at the end of pregnancy so I’m not low going into labor and actually have (natural source) calcium pills for the first several days after birth. Even at night. It helps me a ton. After no. five, didn’t even need ibuprofen!
I am probably worse than you 😂 I Started to do the sleep training at 3months. I just put him in a good schedule where all his needs were met and I had to get my sanity back because i also had to work full time. Routines are amazing 🙌 they knew what time it was when we got sleep sack and noise machine on 😂
My mind is blown on raspberry leaf tea! I've been very consistent with it before and gone to 41+6 and 42+0. I'm 37 weeks with #3 and have been too lazy to drink it this time around. Maybe I'll finally go a little shorter!!
On the after pains tincture. With my first, I didn’t think it worked. I get cramps when I nurse the first 3-7 days so I would start nursing then take the tincture and it didn’t do anything. With my second, the cramps were worse (I’ve heard this is normal and the get stronger every time). I would take the tincture 5 minutes before I nursed and then again when I started nursing and usually that would take care of them. If I still got cramps I would keep taking a dose every 3-5 minutes until they stopped.

When i get up in the morning i eat about 1.5 to 2 hours later i drink plenty of water first. And then i have a big breakfast. It fills me for 4-5 hours and even lost weight this way. ( i am good now) but i don't eat after 7pm so i get hungry in the morning.
I find the red raspberry leaf tea thing interesting, because I had started drinking it before getting pregnant, drank it all the way through first trimester to third, and my baby came at 38 weeks, even though the women in my family have a history of going two weeks past the due date. 😅

The thing about red raspberry leaf tea is interesting. I have gone early with all 11 of mine with the exception of one (plus 4 miscarriages) I had two miscarriages that did just super duper hang one. One for 3 weeks after the baby died (it was a second trimester loss) and the other held on for 5 weeks after the loss. Those two losses that held on plus my last baby I did RRL tea from first trimester on. And the baby was actually born earlier than all my others 😅 for me it has simply made a difference in after pains being less painful and more effective contractions but hasn’t seemed to have affected the gestation length at all. 🤷🏻♀️ it’s one of those adaptogenic herbs they say.
Your advice on sleep training was SOOO HELPFUL! My daughter (ftm) is 12.5 months old and co-sleeps half of the night at least. It's getting impossible lately so we want to bite the bullet and train her THIS WEEK now that she's older. Yes, out of my 4, my second that I drank red raspberry leaf tea on throughout pregnancy was 10 days late. My other 3 where I didn't drink any or hardly any all came 4-2 days before and 2 days after 40 weeks.

If you ladies can find it, the book The Well Fed, Well Rested Baby by Dr Denmark is an absolute gem. It's very hard to find and unfortunately i misplaced my copy, but I've raised my kids on her ideas surrounding naps and night time sleeping and it's been amazing. Moms will comment things aboit sleepless nights and i feel i can barely relate. A little bit for a month or two while they were a fresh newborn for sure but that's about it. ❤ she also has a feeding schedule outlined on there that i followed for my first few children. I think there's a few videos about her methods here on YT.
I also strain milk kefir to make a soft cheese. I use this cheese as a dip or substitute for cream cheese and make no bake cheesecakes with it so you get all the benefits of probiotics in a dessert. Or use it when making chia pudding. Just some other ideas 🙂
In regards to milk kéfir…after I strain the kéfir from the grains, I’ll add in some organic orange peel to the fresh kéfir and let it infuse in the fridge for a day or two then drink a glass of that with a bit of sweetener. Sometimes I’ll cut it with milk for the kiddos. I’ll also make a “green juice” where I blend spinach, kéfir, water, oranges and a greens packet with sweetener and drink that. Sometimes I’ll throw in protein powder (either vanilla or no flavor) some days.
To the overwhelmed moms for the first two questions: An older mom said that they did a “Room Rescue” game that also doubled as an obedience training game. Changed my life! When things were out of control we did this. The main idea is everyone goes and tackles one room TOGETHER. Example: “(5 year old name), please put all these books in a stack.” “(Three year old), please pick up all the trash.” You (mom) take all the dirty dishes to the kitchen and come right back. Praise each child & give a new job when they’re done. Very small, one tiny job, just keep them on track. It could be, “play pat-a-cake with the baby for two minutes.” Praise them!!! It’s excellent for obedience, focus & remembering directions because you can gradually give bigger tasks. On days I was exhausted we’d play this as the “Yes, Mom” game and I would sit on the couch and direct. They’d practice saying, “Yes, mom and doing that job.” In 10-15 minutes, it was AMAZING the progress in one room. Decluttering was a separate activity for me. Useful, but this game helped with the everyday chaos. If you can throw 50-90% of the toys in a cardboard box and put it in a garage until later, that’s super helpful and doesn’t require any decision-making.

We do not adhere to a strict budget we just commit to buying only what we need and not taking on debt....paying in cash etc. Dave Ramsey is a great inspiration.
Do you still nurse victor to sleep at night and just dont nurse through the night? My son just turned 1 and nurses to sleep and I still go in and nurse him back to sleep every time he wakes up. Or do you just pat him until he falls asleep?

@@17HannaMae I mostly but not completely stopped nursing through the night before a year old. The default generally speaking if he woke up and wanted milk to comfort nurse was to intuitively balance let him working it out or going in and reassuring him in other ways. I was still nursing 6x during the day and there were signs the night nursing was unhelpful for his digestion and sleep habits. We’ve had months go by with no issues and then some bad weeks where he’s up 1-3 times (teething/regressions/developmental/whatever). If I’ve been desperate to get everyone back to sleep or my intuition is that he needs it, I will nurse at night, but it’s usually worth it in the long run to push through not offering that if I can help it. We had him room sharing by 12 months and that made it harder up front to stick to a method because we were more worried the crying waking his brother. Otherwise, we gauge how much picking up and soothing we offer based on intensity of cries and how long the crying goes on for.
Eat extra? Good Lord, as if our obesity issues weren't already a problem here in the U.S. 😅 You can fast as long as you want. I've fasted for 72 hours straight. I'm still here. 😂
How do you keep your kids mostly screen free and eating healthier meals!? We are coming from we used to eat out at least 4-6 times a month, going to gas stations for snacks, grandparents who refuse to say “no” to junk food! HELP! I’m running low on ideas on getting my girls to eat home grown meals!
I would probably give up trying to control the grandparents and focus on home. Make the commitment to home cooked meals that are nourishing to your family. Provide whole food snacks like fresh fruit and veggies, cheese, nuts, homemade bread and butter...etc. As for reducing screen time...just do it. Also encourage exploration of new interests and hobbies...providing them with the materials needed for things like painting, sewing, drawing, building, etc.
Minimalizing useless junk is such a breath of fresh air. However, living a life of preparedness (which is going to require space/time/energy), could save your life (ex. Helene survivors).
She does keep a large supply of food in her basement, I think as long as you can keep it out of your main living space, you're good! We have a supply of food and emergency supplies in our basement/pantry space, it's nice to have, but feels better if you don't have to see it all the time! My husband built the pantry.

I’m on my 4th child and I’ve given up 😂. My first I slept trained at a 1.5 years because I felt like I was going nuts. My second started sleeping through the night at 3.5 years old on her own. My 3rd is still sleeping with us 😂. My 4th is only 3 months and is cosleeping. Honestly? Everyone should just do what works for them. For some, they sleep train at a few days old. Others (like my parents) let their kids sleep with them until 11 years old 😅. I slept with my parents waaaaaayyyy too long and I’m an independent well adjusted adult.
Our water is so bad here that we received a poison warning to not use tap water for consumption. We have been using filtered water for several years.

That's scary! I can't imagine having to live with that. I'm so glad you're taking precautions to protect your family.
This is my suggestion for the clutter and organization situation. At a certain point I realized I had a real problem with paper clutter, and I set a timer for 30 minutes after work each night and worked my way through it. It may very well be that you have all you can handle right now. I would just pick an amount of time, choose a room to start in, and make a little progress each day. It may help to first gather up the stuff you need to make decisions about. I also like having good places to donate stuff… this makes me much more willing to let things go. I primarily donate to a creative reuse project that provides supplies free to teachers, and an organization that supports women and mothers who have to start over. I have also donated to our night shelter, which needs everything for unhoused people moving into housing.

We love the solo q&as because we feel like you are an older sister giving advice to us. You mentioned how your sisters had kids after you and you taught them certain things that you had to learn alone woth your first. That's basically us right now learning from you!
For the laundry, I accidentally have wayyy to many clothes for my kids this year. I thrifted some seasonal clothes for my kids and a few weeks later my sil came to my house with bags and bags of clothes from her son. But honestly, I kinda like it?? I have a pretty set laundry system, put clothes to wash and dry, next day I fold it and throw more clothes, a continuous cycle. But sometimes something happen and for a day or two I don't get to it, and before I used to get a bit overwhelmed since my kids needed the clothes. Now I keep the system going but if I ever miss a day or two my kids still have enough clothes to wear so I don't stress too much. I was a bit worried about the amount of clothes they had inside their closet and told my sil I might just donate the clothes she gave me, but now I am glad I kept them lol!
The sleep training part- You are doing GREAT. As someone who is firmly against the Cry it out method, this method that you do WORKS!! I have 4, and I have had to do this to because EVERYONE was miserable. As you said correctly, you know your child, and you know their cries and what is needed to be done in the moment.

To that first woman with the messy house, if you have a ruthless family member or friend, you might need to pay them to come over and help you. I was that person for my sister in law, she's very much in the same situation. It's easier to get started if you're working side by side with someone else! Body doubling...I believe that's called?
She might not even have to pay them to initially get the house in order. Some people, like myself, love to do that sort of thing.

Mom of 4- i do the Ferber method at 1 & it’s chef’s kiss! I’ve never had to go in more than 3 times in one night & it’s never took more than 2 nights. All 4 of my kids are AMAZING, independent sleepers so I try to encourage any mama i meet to try it. It’s so amazing for my mental space & my marriage honestly. & like you said- at one you know that they don’t “need” to nurse whereas when i tried earlier with one of my kids i was always scared they had an actual need & would go back in & nurse to find out that they in fact just wanted to soothe 😂

For milk kefir.... my kids & I eat kefir & granola almost daily! I add mila (micro sliced chia) and home canned fruit filling into the kefir then top with sourdough granola

We used a modified baby wise method with our kids, "The No Cry Sleep Solution" by Elizabeth Pantley and it helped tremendously. Our kids all slept around 8-10 hrs at night by 10 weeks old. I kinda combined baby wise, the baby whisperer and the no cry sleep solution to work for us. We had 7 kids and I am so thankful for sleep!

@@racheln4309yeah I think it depends more on the child than anything else. Our first slept through the night by 10 weeks without doing anything special. Our second didn’t. 🤷♀️
I tried the no-cry Pantley method with my first four and it never worked. I didn’t even bother with my fifth. I think genetics and personality play a big role in whether sleep training is possible or not. For us, it just wasn’t possible.
I liked the Pantley book as well. “Now that We’re a Family “ has two videos on sleep training- the more recent one is excellent & practical.
Milk kefir is our favorite food, for the past year or more. We often go thru a gallon a day, and that's only five of us! But we're on the GAPS diet, so there's a lot of other foods we don't eat. We just strain it, blend it for smoothness, chill, pour into cups and add liquid stevia. Sometimes i make a smoothie but I don't care to most of the time. It's just so good like this. I occasionally add vanilla powder and then it taskes like ice cream. I love the creamy part on top of the jar and my son likes the liquidy part at the bottom. I usually have a glass of it after lunch and dinner and sometimes breakfast. I really crave it 😋

For milk kefir - you can make kefir cheese, use the grains to make sour cream, and I use it in curries and sauces (I add at the end to not lose the probiotic benefits).

Oh, also on the Room Rescue idea, it’s fun to set up your phone and film the cleaning (10 min-30min) in time-lapse speed. Little kids find it so fun & funny to see the room get speed-cleaned!
I’ve done that at friend’s houses when we’re working with kids on learning to clean rooms- and the worse disaster it is at the beginning, the more fun it is to see it get cleaned!
Then we usually sit down, read a story, have a snack , and enjoy the progress we made!
I’ve showed them the clip of Mary Poppins tidying up the nursery & it makes it seem more fun!

Afterpains! Hope this helps someone: I have learned that my body needs calcium and magnesium for afterpains-but especially calcium. I keep up carefully on dairy at the end of pregnancy so I’m not low going into labor and actually have (natural source) calcium pills for the first several days after birth. Even at night. It helps me a ton. After no. five, didn’t even need ibuprofen!

I am probably worse than you 😂 I Started to do the sleep training at 3months. I just put him in a good schedule where all his needs were met and I had to get my sanity back because i also had to work full time. Routines are amazing 🙌 they knew what time it was when we got sleep sack and noise machine on 😂
I have used milk kefir in our oatmeal for breakfast, or in a pancake recipe. Or in biscuit dough recipes etc.
My mind is blown on raspberry leaf tea! I've been very consistent with it before and gone to 41+6 and 42+0. I'm 37 weeks with #3 and have been too lazy to drink it this time around. Maybe I'll finally go a little shorter!!

On the after pains tincture. With my first, I didn’t think it worked. I get cramps when I nurse the first 3-7 days so I would start nursing then take the tincture and it didn’t do anything. With my second, the cramps were worse (I’ve heard this is normal and the get stronger every time). I would take the tincture 5 minutes before I nursed and then again when I started nursing and usually that would take care of them. If I still got cramps I would keep taking a dose every 3-5 minutes until they stopped.

When i get up in the morning i eat about 1.5 to 2 hours later i drink plenty of water first. And then i have a big breakfast. It fills me for 4-5 hours and even lost weight this way. ( i am good now) but i don't eat after 7pm so i get hungry in the morning.

The thing about red raspberry leaf tea is interesting. I have gone early with all 11 of mine with the exception of one (plus 4 miscarriages) I had two miscarriages that did just super duper hang one. One for 3 weeks after the baby died (it was a second trimester loss) and the other held on for 5 weeks after the loss. Those two losses that held on plus my last baby I did RRL tea from first trimester on. And the baby was actually born earlier than all my others 😅 for me it has simply made a difference in after pains being less painful and more effective contractions but hasn’t seemed to have affected the gestation length at all. 🤷🏻♀️ it’s one of those adaptogenic herbs they say.

Yes, out of my 4, my second that I drank red raspberry leaf tea on throughout pregnancy was 10 days late. My other 3 where I didn't drink any or hardly any all came 4-2 days before and 2 days after 40 weeks.

If you ladies can find it, the book The Well Fed, Well Rested Baby by Dr Denmark is an absolute gem. It's very hard to find and unfortunately i misplaced my copy, but I've raised my kids on her ideas surrounding naps and night time sleeping and it's been amazing. Moms will comment things aboit sleepless nights and i feel i can barely relate. A little bit for a month or two while they were a fresh newborn for sure but that's about it. ❤ she also has a feeding schedule outlined on there that i followed for my first few children. I think there's a few videos about her methods here on YT.

I also strain milk kefir to make a soft cheese. I use this cheese as a dip or substitute for cream cheese and make no bake cheesecakes with it so you get all the benefits of probiotics in a dessert. Or use it when making chia pudding. Just some other ideas 🙂

In regards to milk kéfir…after I strain the kéfir from the grains, I’ll add in some organic orange peel to the fresh kéfir and let it infuse in the fridge for a day or two then drink a glass of that with a bit of sweetener. Sometimes I’ll cut it with milk for the kiddos. I’ll also make a “green juice” where I blend spinach, kéfir, water, oranges and a greens packet with sweetener and drink that. Sometimes I’ll throw in protein powder (either vanilla or no flavor) some days.

To the overwhelmed moms for the first two questions:
An older mom said that they did a “Room Rescue” game that also doubled as an obedience training game.
Changed my life!
When things were out of control we did this.
The main idea is everyone goes and tackles one room TOGETHER.
Example:
“(5 year old name), please put all these books in a stack.”
“(Three year old), please pick up all the trash.”
You (mom) take all the dirty dishes to the kitchen and come right back.
Praise each child & give a new job when they’re done. Very small, one tiny job, just keep them on track. It could be, “play pat-a-cake with the baby for two minutes.”
Praise them!!!
It’s excellent for obedience, focus & remembering directions because you can gradually give bigger tasks. On days I was exhausted we’d play this as the “Yes, Mom” game and I would sit on the couch and direct. They’d practice saying, “Yes, mom and doing that job.” In 10-15 minutes, it was AMAZING the progress in one room.
Decluttering was a separate activity for me.
Useful, but this game helped with the everyday chaos.
If you can throw 50-90% of the toys in a cardboard box and put it in a garage until later, that’s super helpful and doesn’t require any decision-making.

Do you still nurse victor to sleep at night and just dont nurse through the night? My son just turned 1 and nurses to sleep and I still go in and nurse him back to sleep every time he wakes up. Or do you just pat him until he falls asleep?
He is sleeping through the night. I will nurse him before he goes down for the night and then half hour or so after he gets up in the morning.

@@17HannaMae I mostly but not completely stopped nursing through the night before a year old. The default generally speaking if he woke up and wanted milk to comfort nurse was to intuitively balance let him working it out or going in and reassuring him in other ways. I was still nursing 6x during the day and there were signs the night nursing was unhelpful for his digestion and sleep habits. We’ve had months go by with no issues and then some bad weeks where he’s up 1-3 times (teething/regressions/developmental/whatever). If I’ve been desperate to get everyone back to sleep or my intuition is that he needs it, I will nurse at night, but it’s usually worth it in the long run to push through not offering that if I can help it. We had him room sharing by 12 months and that made it harder up front to stick to a method because we were more worried the crying waking his brother. Otherwise, we gauge how much picking up and soothing we offer based on intensity of cries and how long the crying goes on for.
Eat extra? Good Lord, as if our obesity issues weren't already a problem here in the U.S. 😅
You can fast as long as you want. I've fasted for 72 hours straight. I'm still here. 😂
How do you keep your kids mostly screen free and eating healthier meals!? We are coming from we used to eat out at least 4-6 times a month, going to gas stations for snacks, grandparents who refuse to say “no” to junk food! HELP! I’m running low on ideas on getting my girls to eat home grown meals!
I would probably give up trying to control the grandparents and focus on home. Make the commitment to home cooked meals that are nourishing to your family. Provide whole food snacks like fresh fruit and veggies, cheese, nuts, homemade bread and butter...etc. As for reducing screen time...just do it. Also encourage exploration of new interests and hobbies...providing them with the materials needed for things like painting, sewing, drawing, building, etc.

Being able to self sooth always involves a bit of crying.
i put the clothes in my kid many times before i wash them.
Minimalizing useless junk is such a breath of fresh air. However, living a life of preparedness (which is going to require space/time/energy), could save your life (ex. Helene survivors).
She does keep a large supply of food in her basement, I think as long as you can keep it out of your main living space, you're good! We have a supply of food and emergency supplies in our basement/pantry space, it's nice to have, but feels better if you don't have to see it all the time! My husband built the pantry.
