      @@heshamk4824 yes i can, without slavery some greedy rich cotton farmer would have had to lose a few more pennies hiring workers, slavery was an appalling part of history and the fact of the matter is people resorted to it in every culture for most of human history not because they absolutely needed it but because it was convenient, without slaves I think the people who built Europe and made it the continent of global power houses would have found a way, sure culture and music would have taken a hit but the united states would still be more or less where it is minus the sin of slavery. As for asians yeah they have done a lot, brilliant minds, very law abiding community orientated but again not essential to the US having become the global super power, muslims? You would have to clarify why America needs/needed muslims but again no America would still be America...without these groups America would be different but it would still be America and it would still be a world super power, the essential ingredient was European, especially anglo-saxon people, ideas, cultures and values.

      @@zackjohnson9204 European/British nationalism is basically just serving the purpose of filling an empty void. What actually makes Australia unique as a country in its own right? How much culture is actually unique to us alone? Obviously, most of the exclusively-Australian culture belongs to the Indigenous Australian peoples, who have lived here for tens of thousands of years, maintaining various unique cultures for tens of thousands of years. The colonial British/European culture that has existed in Australia since 1788 cannot at all compare to the rich cultural heritage of the indigenous inhabitants of this land. That is undeniable. I think a lot of these white nationalists in Australia are ashamed and insecure about the shallowness of their flimsy national identity. So they double down on the lie.

Australia has extremely violent and oppressive regions because of colonizers being also white supremacists who just wanted to find gold or riches and move back to homelands. Maybe seek out better forefathers by glowing as multicultural society and upheld your proud attitude of being economically viable. Democracy, secularism and human rights can never be viewed as mistake, unless done with caricature of what they suppose to represend.

    No genuine debate has really ever taken place concerning Australia Day, ever. Oh sure there’s been a great deal of politicking, activism, advocacy, championing, and virtue signalling heavy crusading, but no debate.
    And altogether throughout Australia’s media, predominantly our national debate has been the ongoing postmodern Ruling Classes, pushing its own interpretation, contrivance of Australian history. It's a colossal injustice and a gross display of ingratitude to the millions of early Australians (including aboriginals) who toiled, suffered and literally died in order to build this nation into a modern, successful country.

And if I say i'm Aboriginal, am I not Australian? But what if i say i'm Aboriginal Australian or an indigenous Australian - BUT WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO? I just wish we could erase race and ethnicity from our national identity. It's just so complicated. The issue is very minor compared to the more important matters that can affect the everyday lives of Australians. Even if the date was changed there are some days that are of importance to Australia that it can be changed to examples being December 3rd (Eureka stockade) and January 1st (Federation).

    This is tots fixable.
    1. Make ‘AD’ Jan 1 as that was when Australia as a country came into being. However as this is already a public holiday have the only official recognition be the release of the Australia Day honours list. Apart from that nothing else happens.
    2. Gazette the AD public holiday to fall on either the last Mon or Fri of Jan (whichever is closest to the end of the month). This way those who would benefit from a Fri public holiday would get a go.
    3. Rename Jan 26 as ‘Invasion Day’ and treat it with the same solemnity as ANZAC Day (dawn service)
    4. Have a treaty signed off by the GG (on behalf of the Australian government) and to ensure global recognition, the UN Sec Gen.
    All it takes is some leadership.

    • @echelon2k8
      @echelon2k8 4 года назад +3

      3. Renaming Jan 26 as 'Invasion Day' only panders to a minority and insults the majority. I mean, to a minority the day that Europeans arrived might be considered as an invasion, but to the majority that is the day when their ancestors first arrived in the country. You have to be realistic.
      4. Why in the world would the Australian government agree to anything that would put them at a disadvantage with some sort of treaty after all the years of having sole sovereignty of the Australian nation just because a minority want to share it? Does the Australian government then have a treaty with every other minority that is represented in Australia?
