I've never had a gripe with the RS5. I always felt the sportback was an exciting car to drive. definitely something i'd like to pick up pre owned or off lease one day. I've had the opportunity to drive a few of them and I feel like they're great vehicles.
I own the sportback, first year model RS5. Very reliable, I do my own maintenance so I save money there. (I currently have 90k miles on the clock) I currently have it tuned by IE with other aftermarket goodies. 0-60 in 3.2 seconds and will roast just about anything on the road. Great grocery getter.

@@jonlikesplanes The A5 and RS5 are like two different classes of cars lol, not even comparable. In fact, they are indeed made for different purposes, the A5 would be way better in regards to comfort and daily use but the RS5 is a better performer
That is a really good sounding V6. It also doesn't sound like Audi opted for any artificial or enhanced engine noise. It may be relatively quiet and subdued for a sports car, but you at least get a natural exhaust and induction note from this V6, modern emissions kind of limit what automakers can do with engine and exhaust note, but props to Audi for making a good sounding engine without adding any fake noise.
I had the “pleasure” of taking a part a RS5 and I can totally say there are zero enhancements, that’s what you get when Porsche makes your engine… the best V6 in the game right now IMO
@@pwj86772 The B58 is an Inline 6, not a V6, BMW also pumps fake I6 noises through the speakers, you can tell their is no enhanced engine note in this RS5, it sounds like a V6, it's not overly loud and artificial sounding, like in some I6 and V8 BMWs.
Something I love about Audi's, that most journalists complain about, is the light steering. I love when I'm just trying to drive in comfort and I just want light steering. They always get slack for their lack of steering feel, but I like it. And there's just enough when in sport modes. Also, I don't mind the way you corner with audis. Slow way down before the corner, and then basically flat out as you hit the apex so the car rotates around the corner perfectly with complete confidence. Also, shoutout Livonia, I'm going to be out there tomorrow to do a job lol
I agree with the flat-bottomed steering wheel. Looks much better in my opinion. I even liked the steering wheel from the 'old' RS5 much better because it was round shaped..
All it takes is a tune and some bolt ons to smoke a bmw. It’s not like every m3 is stock. Everyone modifies it. It’s on you to modify your audi. These Audis can make insane power once you put money into it.

100% agree about the flat-bottom wheels. My S5 has a round one, but I know for several years they were offered with flat-bottoms, and I wish mine had one. Not sure why Audi moved away from it, and wish they'd at least add it as an option.
My '18 S4 is flat bottom. I think with all the B9 cars if you optioned heated wheel it was not flat bottom. Still enjoyng my '18 034 Stage 2 TCU/ECU S4 that I bought in '19.
@@SquashPile Yep, unfortunately we get about 6 months of winter where I live, so the heated wheel felt more important than the flat bottom, but I kinda regret that now. If you've been running the tunes for a while, any issues/concerns? I plan on going stage 1 ECU/stage 2 TCU next spring.
@@Markusgebvor I just checked the configurator, all A5, S5, and RS5 models come with this style of steering wheel. They seem to go between circular airbags and the hexagonal rectangle sort of thing. It used to be that S and RS cars would have a perforated wheel with a flat bottom but now all cars use the standard steering wheel.

the round steering wheel is because of the hands-on detection and heat. you can retrofit an OEM European flat bottom wheel with hands-on detection and heat, but they're pricey at >$2500 USD.
I had a 2019 RS5 Sportback and it looked mean. Glacier white with every bell and whistle. Everyone didn’t know what it was but loved it. Some thought it was a new electric car. I would get stopped or raced EVERYWHERE by admirers and cops.

Different class of car. You can't fit more than 2 in a 911. Plus once you start to spec options on a 911 to match the audi you have gone way higher in price.
This is the standard steering wheel for most Audi models. It is no longer dependent on whether or not you specified a heated steering wheel. Any car with the rectangular airbag will not come with a flat bottomed steering wheel, there is no option, nothing. The pre-facelift cars that have a circular airbag did come with a flat bottom steering wheel on S and RS variants.
I think when I spec’d my B9 S4 back in 2018, the heated steering wheel option mandated a round wheel but if that option wasn’t ticked then it came with a flat bottom wheel. I prefer round (and heated) so it was fine with me.
Totally agree that the steering wheel is not at all cool for an RS model. My 2020 RS5 has a smaller, fat and flat-bottomed wheel - with after market carbon fiber paddles - totally awesome!
I agree with most people in the comments. $100K is a lot for a coupe Audi with a twin turbo V6. Absolutely one of the best Audis ever created but I’d spend my 6 figures on a Lexus LC500.
Why didn't you mention about how stiff the suspension is, and how the seats are very tight? One of the stiffest cars I ever driven! You can feel every single road imperfection. Both the Sportback and Coupe. I feel like that may be a very important factor for potential buyers.

If you had to choose between a brand new Audi RS3 or an Audi RS5 competition, which would you choose? Is the $30K price difference worth it? Originally I wanted a hot hatch and was looking at the RS3 for the compact size and performance, but listening to you and others talk about the V6 twin turbo with the smooth shifting power I am considering upgrading. I am looking for an "executive" daily driver and the consistent negative I hear about the RS3 is the lags in shifting.
I drove test an Audi with flat bottom steering wheel, in my opinion it depends on your hand size if it’s comfortable or not, to me it isn’t, but it does look really nice. I think the Audi A5, S5 and RS5 coupe is the most beautifull of all Audis.
Only thing I wish was an option was Perforated leather flat bottom Steering wheel and shifter knob I don't like the suede it looks nasty after a while! I would probably do a aftermarket steering wheel. I've seen a Audi comp beat a M3 comp around a track fam

@@MatorVDS For how old the B9 gen is, it’s actually pretty pretty impressive: RS5 is faster than f80 m3/4 (comp and non comp), W205 C63 (and S). Which is impressive already being that the B9 never got a higher horsepower trim. B9 is also faster than a non comp G80 M3/4 which isn’t even the equivalent generation to B9. G80 comp is indeed faster tho (and it should be faster, being newer and having more power). Interior is way better on the B9 than F80 and easily on the same level W205 and G80. If you think those look better then that’s fine. They all look good tbh. I do agree that the RS5 comp is expensive for just being a handling package. If it had extra power like the BMW comps then it’d be understandable but then they probably would’ve given it the “Performance” label instead.

The same with the C63. By the way... The New M4 G82 is only 3 years younger then the RS5 B9. If we would be fair we should compare the M4 G82 with the RS5 B9 but it make no sense cause the new M4 is so much faster cause of 4WD that the Audifanboys would cry much more.
The big reason for the move away from flat bottoms based on what I remember is that Audi doesn't offer the heated steering wheel option with flat bottom wheels - although this may have changed since I last checked. IMO, flat bottom wheels are overrated. I personally have pretty big legs and I think if I didn't have the flat bottom on my RS3 it would probably be problematic getting in and out but in my S5, the flat bottom was completely unnecessary. The manual seats in the RS3 don't get as low as the electronic-operated seats in the S5/RS5 so the flat bottom is hardly necessary in these cars. I do agree about the size though. I always appreciate a nice small diameter wheel and this does look comically large in this car haha.
hm even though i think this looks better than the m4, i just dont think this car is on M4 Comp Xdrive's level. Audi no longer has an AWD advantage on the RS models
I've owned 1 A5 and 2 S5s and have been disappointed with this product line, build quality has gone downhill and performance has been stagnant since they got rid of the V8 motor
$99K for this thing is insane. And it's nowhere near as beautiful as the original S5/B8. I'd rather have a Stinger for half the cost which also comes with a TT V6 and mod the heck out of it. And guaranteed it'll be more reliable than this Audi.

$99K for this thing is insane. And it's nowhere near as beautiful as the original S5/B8. I'd rather have a Stinger for half the cost which also comes with a TT V6 and mod the heck out of it. And guaranteed it'll be more reliable than this Audi.

The steering wheel looks awful! But the rest of the car is great.
Blank buttons, interior looks too similar to an A5. Hard to justify at 100k. Can get a slightly used RS7 for the same price.
Flat bottom steering Wheel is useless. Buy BMW and be happy
You've never spent a lot of time with an Audi and emerged from the experience that you love that car.. You just sound like a hater, how's that possible, what did you not like about the RS3, S4, S6.. that's all I found on your channel, I guess that's all you've driven. Anyway since you like the rs5, you'd probably like the rs6 and rs7 too i'd imagine. I just don't see how someone couldn't love the RS3
