I know I have been away forever! BUT THANK YOU FOR 20k! (Next week has a big thank you). But I'm back! And since Series 13 probably wont be until 2022 😅 I hope to keep filling that Doctor Who gap in your life Much love, #CrispyForShowrunner
suggestion: get the classic series of dr who on dvd (or however you can get it) and review them per episode (well per "story" as they were multi ep stories of 20 to 30mins until they changed to 45 mins in the 80s i think). They are much better than the new series, in my opinion. But bias will be there of course.
Fantastic-Empty Child/Doctor Dances,Bad Wolf/Partying of the Ways Great-Dalek,Fathers Day Good-Rose,Aliens in London/WW3 Decent-End of the World,Unquiet Dead,Long Game
Great video!! It really is awesome news that Christopher Eccleston has returned to the Doctor Who world! It's really heartwarming :) And massive congrats on hitting 20k!! :D

Personally I'm glad he never got that second series, I would have loved more of his era but the thing is series 1 is fundamentally different from series 2 and the modern show moving forward from there. Series 1 felt much more like what the series had been doing during the wilderness years in tone style and focus, also a lot like the late seventh doctor era - it was a little more sci fi especially in it's look and music than most of the modern show (which leans pretty heavy into fantasy dressed up as sci fi) it had more of a focus on the very light but still present horror tones that the classic show was famous for. It's characters weren't 'the most important thing ever', the doctor wasn't space Jesus yet, he also wasn't a massive jerk yet or at least when he was a jerk it made sense contextually and he wasn't just being selfish (10). Rose was still very likeable. The time war was still this incomprehensible thing as opposed to star wars fighting. I could go on. Not to put down the entirety of the modern show as there is a lot to like overall but I don't think it has ever felt as 'Doctor who' as the first series did and I don't think that adding even more soap opera elements was the way to go. I know that the modern show is for the most part fundamentally different from the classic show so it is natural I'd like some of this franchise more than some other parts of it and this is all coming from someone who generally prefers the classic show and the overall style of plot, characters tone and just the quality of the stories (most of the time - looking at you vast majority of Eighth Doctor stuff pre- 2001) that the franchise had from roughly 1988-2005 (generalising massively here but those who are familiar with the media produced in this time will hopefully understand what I mean) appeals a lot to me and the eras contained there are my personal favourites.

Hi Crispy, Have you seen steins gate (on Netflix), It is also a time-travelling story, whit lote of doctor who references. It is really a great series. I hope you will give it a try.
Writing this before watching the video. My ranking: 1. The Empty Child 2. The Doctor Dances 3. Dalek 4. Bad Wolf 5. The Parting of the Ways 6. Aliens of London 7. Fathers Day 8. Boom Town 9. World War Three 10. The End of the World 11. Rose 12. The Long Game 13. The Undead Quiet
Aside from The Unquiet Dead, every episode is great to me. I’ve not watched that one for quite a while, so maybe it’s better than I remember. Also Boom Town, seems to me a lot of people forget this episode exists or think it sucks. But I love it, just for the humour and charters, and I agree that they should do more stories just for fun character moments like that.
I was 4 or 5 when seeing this series, so the Slitheen have always been a favourite for me so I just enjoy their two parter (probably the earliest monster I remember). Yeah it had its downsides looking back, but I still really enjoy it (especially nostalgia).
@@Football_Goals_F.C Decided to watch it a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. Still on the lower end of a great series for me, just because the series is great.

Crispy is like the dad of whotube. He leaves all the time, then comes back to pay the rent, leaves, then comes back, leaves again, then comes back. I'm surprised you don't have a playlist for "I'm back" videos. 😂
The doctor dances .... his line where he says" Everybody lives, Rose! Just this once, everybody lives! " really sums up this doctor after the time war
it would be cool if you do this for every season
My man’s gotta pay the rent again it appears 👀
😂😂

Nice work! Series 1 was pretty strong overall, IMO. No real clunkers. I agree that "The Long Game" was one of the less-stellar ones.

How funny, even this Doctor Who Magazine issue coming talks a little bit about the 9th Doctor, mostly because of the Time Lord Victorious thing
He's back! (again)

@@zartig09 Ik, series 1 is really one of the best series in nu who, it’s between 1 and 4 for me
It would have been too predictable for Crispy to make this right after the eccleston announcement. He had to keep us in suspense and I respect that.
From best to worst-
The Doctor Dances
Dalek
Bad Wolf
The Empty Child
The Parting Of The Ways
Father's Day
Rose
World War Three
Aliens of London
The End of The World
The Unquiet Dead
Boom Town
The Long Game
İ think no doctor who season 1 episode is weak or bad. İ think they were all very good episodes. Season 1 is really one of the best seasons out there.
2:58 Damn, how young are you?
It's great though how dr who crosses generations. Shame they killed it with series 12.
PENGUIN!!! i love penguins
I think that the slitheen was a bit much with all of the gas passing and laughing and jokes, but it is an okay.
Not very early
Eccleston ran out of money then.

No week episode for this season. Only the garbage bin scene was weak.
There isn't a bad Eccleston episode. This was easily the best nu-Who series.
Definitely one of the best, alongside 4, 5 and 10.
