Congratulations Cameron you did it. I'm pretty sure you have the strenght to reach 5:45. It's too far yet... but I really think that you will be able to do. Time will give me the reason. I believe in you. Enjoy your first sub 5:50. The first of many. Come on boy!! You are a machine
Wow!! Huge congratulations Cam. Such a contrast in pacing to your previous massive negative splits. It's one thing knowing you're in shape, quite another having the courage to do it live, in your kitchen and stick to your game plan. It made me proud to go and add my few metres to the Yamsquad later on.
OMG Cameron, can’t believe I never knew you (I’m a bit older lol) as I came across your channel by pure accident. A fellow Denny man been rowing and keeping fit all my life. Great effort on the row mate that’s a superb effort, there’s a gold Olympic medal with your name on it. I’ll be following your journey so keep up the training mate.
Great job mate, as someone who’s struggling with finding motivation to continue erging in quarantine your attitude never ceases to amaze me! Happy for you, you deserve this 👍
Looked in control with strong finish and you could have saved yourself some pressure by not informing us of your intentions but then delivered. Lots of positives. Certainly think you have walked through a door that will open new boundaries. Well done.
Congratulations on your PB! So inspirational. That was a great video and truly motivational. I have just begun my rowing journey at 55 years of age, but watching you makes me feel like I do amazing things if I practice hard and am mentally tough enough.
So impressive! Well done :) Love following your rowing journey! I got a PB yesterday with 6:50;8 which I am really happy about after 10 months of rowing!
@@CameronBuchan I did something fun last weekend in lieu of the Boston Marathon for which I had been training. I watched the weather, picked a super windy day, and ran a 26.2 mile point-to-point route with wind behind the whole way. Set a new PR buy 2 minutes. Cheating, but fun!
Hey Cam, just wanted to express thanks for helping me on my rowing journey. I'm a freshman at high school with a 6:49 2k, around 3 months of experience in rowing. You've been crucial during this journey, keep the good work up!
Hey cam, been following your journey for 2 years now. Just saying massive congratulations on your on. That’s huge! You’ve gone through a lot and you needed this win
That was absolutely perfect for a 2k. Well done. Reckon the kitchen is a horrible environment to do one (poor airflow, temp, smells of food etc), you'd have more in the tank if you went outside.
Okay, it’s now August 2022 but that was bloody excellent yet again Cam after seeing your piece from Paris. Huge effort put in to continually shave off those fractions of seconds. Was worried at the beginning as for a moment it looked like you had put Yam on a crash diet 🤣 Moving to the kitchen is a brilliant idea as you can ergo whilst cooking up some scran - remember, food is fuel ⛽️😎
You've done great, Cam! I bet you'll remember this day :) I wish I had a rowing machine. With everything closed I can either run which I hate or bike on my 20 in wheels :)
Watching a few of your videos recently (still on Concept wait list to purchase an erg) and just saw this, savage stuff. Not sure if more impressed with your 2k time or the fact you did 100k in one day, crazy workload.
well done. I understand the count down in your head thing. I do it when I do my 5k's. I do 10m per pull so 50 pulls per 500m. what is your length of pull or how many strokes in your 500?
great video, and insane effort! big congrats! I stumbled yesterday on your channel and am watching a couple of your older videos.. one think I'd like to add is about your comments in the beginning regarding warming up. totally get that you want to "wake-up" the muscles and get into it. But I think you could potentially gain a bit if you at the same time try to cool your body temperature down. I was seeing the videos about Dan Bighams Hour Track Cycling Record, and he is an insane data and optimize everything nerd, and he shoved down an insane amount of slushed ice during the warmup to cool himself down in an effort to keep from overheating longer. This could also potentially lessen the puking after the effort, which I think mainly comes from the bodies reaction to overheating^^ hope this sounded kinda coherent as english isn't my native tongue. this should absolutely not come of in any way as arrogant advice, I'm not really versed in rowing, but just some observations :) with best regards from germany!
Hello! Thanks for taking the time to write that! Yes you're right, lots of information coming out about the benefits of cooling before an effort. Over heating is definitely something to be avoided!
Given the amount of times he throws up after intense efforts, I'm wondering if I've ever tried super hard at anything in my life.... Should we all be throwing up after a 2k?
im from NZ and are in lockdown too, no gyms and i dont have a concept 2 #gealous ive got a sub 6min goal would be so perfect to have a concept 2 in my kitchen at this time. lol nice work rowers are fucking hard
Great! Well done. Do you think about the angle of your elbows just after the catch? They seem to bend slightly early. Would straight arms and taking it more in the shoulders be stronger?
Mental how you can hit your pb by yourself, I need an angry man shouting behind me
Not just one

Sorry but that is either cap or your Concept 2 is wrongly calibrated! Woman’s world record on erg is only about 5 seconds faster than that lol.

Great performance and everything without screaming fanboy coaches! Great intrinsic motivation.
Cam - Brilliant! Very proud of you. There is more to come I am sure. Keep it going - Richard

Outstanding Big Man, outstanding!!! This is your year😀 You're keeping me inspired, & no doubt many others. Stay safe & stay strong 💪🏼
You're a legend man. Great work. Great attitude. Great inspiration. Erging in isolation near Philadelphia, PA.
Livestream was so hype! Over a 1000 viewers too, that was epic
The spew bowl is a perfect trophy for such an achievement. That was awesome to watch well done Cam!

Well done Cam, very well done. You looked SO much more poised and steady than Paree. See you in Tokyo 2021.

A few people have said similar. I argue I am not taking the catch with the arms but taking the slack with the arms #yamsquad
"Thanks for spurring me on to do a PB" *vomits on camera* ... "to do a PB in the kitchen"
Nice row. A PB is always great. Who gets to mop the kitchen floor: you or your lady?
What damper setting are you using?
Around a 3-4 for this one
