Not everyone thinks the same way. For example, I really never liked the camera style from the first 3 games. And the puzzles were so obscure. I can't say I'd be against bringing back the zombies and making it scary, but if they make a return to the old fixed position cameras and puzzles that make no sense, I'd have to pass on it.
Sheva's shoulder tattoo means 'hero' in Swahili. This is the first Resident Evil game where all previous games are referenced, in so much as upon completing the game, a history of Resident Evil is unlocked detailing the past 70 years. This means that it is finally explicitly confirmed that the survivors of Resident Evil (1996)/Resident Evil (2002) were Chris, Jill, Barry, Brad and Rebecca, and that the level "Umbrella's End" from Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles (2007) is officially considered canon. This game was the first Resident Evil to be released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Technically, when it came out, this was Resident Evil 7, because when Resident Evil Zero (2002) chronologically became the first one in the series, this made Resident Evil: Code: Veronica (2000) the fifth and Resident Evil 4 (2005) the sixth. With the later release of Resident Evil: Revelations (2012) (which takes place between Resident Evil 4 and 5), this game technically became Resident Evil 8. The returning enemies of Resident Evil 4 (2005)'s new line of enemies are: chainsaw users, Gatling Gun users and a giant creature. The first appearance of Sheva Alomar. First Resident Evil game presented in Dolby TrueHD 5.1 surround sound. This is the first Resident Evil game where you earn PlayStaton 3 trophies and Xbox points for accomplishments. The infinite ammo unlocked in the main game isn't transferable in the "Lost In Nightmare" and "Desperate Escape" scenario. This is the first time that Jill Valentine is seen as a blond with a different hair style, instead of a brunette with her hair down to the sides. The same change in appearance was carried over into the movie adaptations of the series. Like the other playable characters in the game, Albert Wesker can also perform physical attacks on stunned enemies. One of these attacks is called "Tiger Uppercut" - a reference to a special move from the Street Fighter series, a game also developed and published by Capcom. This is the first main Resident Evil game where the subtitles are enabled during cut-scenes. All the previous games had none or a very limited amount of subtitles.
i agree completely, i was obsessedddddd with the 4th one and i was really happy when they added a 5th one i thought it would be cool if they added leon in there too since they put characters in resident evil 4 mercenaries that werent in the main game
@FreeButtSex I think they're pretty high. But keep in mind its always the minimum requirements that are printed on the box and they're just to run the game. Usually the recommended specs are what you need at the least to run the game at a smooth rate.
@Halobolu all the controls on the keyboard are close together and easy to use.. plus u can use any controller u want on a pc if u dont like the key board
yea. Some people like the traditional gamepad because its a more tighter feel. You have everything near where your thumbs and finger go instead of having everything laid out for you. Im not saying the mouse and keyboard is bad, by all means, thats probably my favorite control type. But Im just saying other people just like everything tight and compact.
No, it would depend on the visual settings someone has it set on, on a pc, what resolution, antialiasing, motion blur, shadow setting, and all other elements. The main too that kick a video cards ass is antialiasing, motion blur, and somewhat of the shadow setting.
The reason why the system requirements are so high is because they included 3D vision in the calculation. I just ran the benchmark again in 3D, which looks pretty good by the way. Both my processor and video card (AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 30. Ghz, Geforce 9600 GT) are below the recommended system requirements and I ran the benchmark at 30 fps in 3D. 50 fps in 2D.
3D vision means that you can see 3D graphics in real 3D using a pair of special glasses. You need at least a Geforce 9600 GT or a Geforce 8800 GT to use this feature. It uses expensive glasses and you need a special 120hz screen for the best effect but Nvidia has also recently released 3D vision Discover, which uses the traditional stereoscopic method seen in movie theatres and those drivers are free. You only need to buy cheap red and cyan glasses, which you can find on ebay.
No, It's mainly your video card..not a "high end pc" all you need is the minimum pc specs of your processor number and amout of core speed and ram..the rest of highering the graphics depends on your video card and v-ram
It's a shame. What I really loved about the old games was the INTENSE athmosphere, and you always had your mind on solving puzzles and actually trying to survive, while feeling somehow helpless against the enemies.
I agree with the zombies part, but seriously, puzzles should make some sense. Some of the puzzles in the first three Resident Evil games however made little to no sense, at least to me. So if those were to make a come back, I'd prefer they be a bit more logical.
@SuperMvC3 that's your opinion, I gave mine. Have you even played the old classic ones? I have to be honest the camera angles are quite annoying and 'put some people off' but beside that they're just incredible for the creepy atmosphere and music full of suspense and jumpy parts etc.
I'm tempted to buy this for PC as It's the only gaming device other than handhelds I'll be bringing with me to uni. I'll have to check the specs first though...
@banzaigtv2 Also a healthy video board with a good amount of memory wouldn't hurt either. Steam states: Graphics: Minimum Requirement - 256 MB VRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 6800 series or ATI Radeon HD 2400 Pro; Recommended - 512 MB or more VRAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9800 series or better, or ATI Radeon HD 4800 series or better.
it does make your cpu a little slower because some of its space gets used up. This depends on the type of cpu you have also. If you have an older one like me then I see were they are coming from.
In response to TheReaperWarrior I'd say it should run good on your PC. There's an RE5 Benchmark program you can download - it came out a little while ago. It should let you know how the game will run. The SF 4 benchmark was very accurate, so I'd expect the same with RE5's.
@Zomb1eX It does't matter how new your laptop is or how much it was. What matters is what hardware you have.My custom built pc cost me £300 and i can run it on max settings/8xAA/16XAF with no fps drop below 60.
I think the one criticism I have about this video is when he talks about the framerate as a result of too much to process. This all depends on how powerful the computer is - just variables
Bad thing about PC version? Quicktime events (dodge, etc.). If you set the keys in a conventional way (F to use, V to command, the list goes on), be ready to die A LOT, particularly against Wesker.
They're really exaggerating when they say you need a high end PC. I just downloaded the benchmark tool and these are the results: Geforce 9600 GT (under the recommended) AMD Athlon 64 x2 6000+ 3.0 Ghz (under the recommended) 2GB Ram Windows 7 32-bit DX10 I ran the action scene in the benchmark tool and got an average of 50.3 frames per second on highest settings at a resolution of 1280x1024.
And then you notice that the only people really complaining about series changing are those afraid of change, not the ones who loved the series. If you really loved a series, you'd play it no matter what they did to the gameplay, or whether or not the overall style has changed. We all have our own opinions though, but don't think other people are oblidged to hate the change because you do. RE4-5, and FFXIII are amazing games.
looks like the PC version of RE5 smokes the RE4 port, Capcom's finally taking some real effort on PCs, and if I ever get a gaming PC setup Im definitely gonna get this setup on it.
Yea I completely agree with the motion blur. Resident Evil 5 on PC (maxed out) is one of the most beautifully detailed games available. Resident Evil 4 on PC was a disgrace, but I wouldn't go as far as saying Capcoms at total fault here. They licensed it to Ubisoft for the PC port. If anyone's to blame it's Ubisoft. Though it was Capcom's decision to let Ubisoft handle it. Looks like Capcom learned from that mistake with their 2009 PC lineup, which has been superb!
Hmm works absoloutly brilliant for me... Maybe you're exsperiencing graphic lag.. What graphics card do you have it could not be a upto date one, or try going into... Options Video settings.. and lower the graphics settings.
I said "it depends on which cpu you have". My cpu gets drastically slower when I try to install anything on it. This is because my cpu is older so I dont really have as much experience with a pc like you do. Although PC parts are quite expensive (im not saying drastically expensive, Im just saying certain parts cost around what you can get a PS2 for) its not entirely inaffordable. I could afford it but Im just gonna stick to my PS3 right now because it basically plays the same games... MW2...
In that case their standards are very low. I've never heard someone call the Geforce 9600 GT a high end card and most people, including myself, consider it the absolute minimum for gaming. If I google lists of mid-range GPUs, the Geforce 9600 GT is always one of the cards listed. The 9600 GT was considered mid- to high-range when it came out, but Nvidia has released better cards since then.
^I see the point you're making but a 460 isn't really a low end card, It wasn't when it was released and I'd still say its mid-range in the scheme of things, low end you're looking at a 450/550/650 in nvidia terms.
I was the same once... till I got a system and I crept my way up from SNES and Advance emulators(and alot o others) to a horde of full blown pc games. I will never disregard console gaming but I have experienced computer gaming and I can never deny it's goodness.
oh and they need that No mercy mode on the console version, Me and my friend always end up killing everything in mercs and we either have 2 go after the chickens or it will just abruptly end. I want No mercy in Mercs Reunion!
As for which one is more fun, I can't objectively say. I like the mouse and keyboard because of the speed and accuracy and the tactile quality of it. But yes, it should be obvious that one can aim faster and more accurately with a mouse. If one could move a cursor or target with an analogue stick just as accurately and as fast as a mouse, we'd all be using analogue sticks instead for our computers.
ok, idk how to explain it further. All I can tell you is my PC runs slower when Im downloading something and/or running other websites at the same time.
I wouldn't really count on No Mercy coming out for the consoles. The extra enemy count would negatively impact the performance and would likely cause nasty slowdowns on the consoles due to their limited processing power. The same reason why Legenday Dark Knight mode on DMC4 never came out on consoles. You can never know, of course, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
In the console versions of the game the quick time events needed you to press 2buttons sometimes, so I guess they kept it. Buy a PS or a Xbox360 controller for your PC, once you configure it, it will be great. Atleast it was for me.
"Limited extras"?? He's saying like it's a bad thing, but you're getting more stuff in the PC than in the console versions anyway. So how exactly getting EXTRAS, no matter how few they can be, is bad?
@vmkSAVAGEGUY Generally speaking, if you don't know how to check to see if your PC can run a game, it can't, and you're not well versed enough to be self-installing the required hardware. I currently run this game with the Phenom II x4 955 (3.2), GTX460 MSI Cyclone (1Gig), and 4 gigs of DDR2. It runs flawlessly on Max settings. Looks great, plays great, and you can pretty much always land a headshot thanks to the PC aiming system. For anyone who can run this, I suggest buying for $10 (STEAM)
@Johny40Se7en well when u get infinte ammo its way easier, plus its kinda cool how they kill wesker since is basically almost immortal and that was actually the only way to kill him
Also take into consideration the Call of Duty series started on the PC. And how can you possibly, at all, expect 2005 hardware to match up with hardware from today? Budget and casual gamers buy consoles. Or people who actually like joysticks for some crazy reason.
Why are people comparing L4D and RE5? They're two entirely different games that just happen to share the same(ish) enemies, zombies. It'd be a bit like comparing Shaun of the Dead to Dawn of the Dead. Different movies that fit into different genres but share the same antagonists. Different games with different styles of play that share the sameish antagonists.
@katsioylas I could make a whole list of games that have better graphics on PC than on consoles, mainly because of the higher resolutions and overall performance. And by the way, Crysis is a PC exclusive with very good graphics. PS: Console exclusive games are made to explore every little hardware detail of the console, hence the good graphics, besides having a good PC nowadays cuts off the need of having 2-3 consoles and it is cheaper to buy (at least here on Brazil)
Perhaps by 2009 standards. These days even a low-end gaming PC can max this out. For instance, I have the HD 7750($120) and a Pentium Dual-Core processor. I get a constant 60fps at 1920x1080. HD 7750 is pretty low end, but it maxes out this game. Point is, you don't really need a high-end PC to play this game, just don't expect to play it on integrated graphics though.
Yeah, in 2009 this was a pretty demanding game, because it was supposed to be a super enhanced console port and they advertised it as much, and it was, it looks considerably better than the console versions. May not be too noticeable in a youtube video though.
Im not saying FPS' on a controller is a fail because the Wii's controller on that matter works great with FPS games because of its precision aiming. The Wii's controls, come to think of it, is kinda like a mouse except your not moving it around on a pad, your just moving it around in the air... huh, thats kinda ironic dont ya think?
So what is the Nvidia 3d object thingy? Isn't that what polygons and all that stuff have been for years? Am I totally misunderstanding the concept here?
@Johny40Se7en Yes. Everyones entitled to an opinion, though alot of the time it's better off not said. When people begin to force their own onto anothers, thats when it becomes a problem. I dont think I could replay Resident Evil 5 anytime soon. The controls feel so weird and I've already finished it a ton of times... So I doubt I'd get back into it. I'm to busy no-lifing Oblivion (almost 100 hours in, about 2/4 done? idk...), waiting for Skyrim and Final Fantasy Versus to come out.
@PhantomLnk Read better what I said, Wii is composed mostly by exclusive games or exclusive ports for the console, so it's obvious the games will be better on it. And I guess it is only a matter of time before a PC can emulate a Wii properly, as it has always been with emulators, people forget that the PC IS the big pappa of every single console ever been and ever to be released
cant be remade huh? lmao
"you really cant go wrong with the pc version" YOU CAN NEVER GO WRONG WITH A PC
the re4 port was horrible
Arkham knight?

High End pc needed)? i played that game with Intel HD 4000 at 720P with high settings with constant 30FPS
***** Good Point
+XXEQUIS1 i know this is a year early, but high end for a 2009 game. XD
lol good point
XXEQUIS1 Really? Lemme try that later.
Ren G Yup my PC is not very good and this game runs perfect. Avoid RE 4 and ORC on PC though....
was just playing this today on my ps3. love going back through resident evils. (July 2018)
6 bucks on steam ,gunna buy it :p
Same

RE4's what killed the series dark
The Crosshairs look awesome.
Yes, absolutely true because since the RE4 was realized the game began to be more like an ACTION GAME than a early SURVIVAL HORROR
1:05
That makes a lot more sense. I thought the woman in the beginning of the video was not Sheva.
@Halobolu all the controls on the keyboard are close together and easy to use.. plus u can use any controller u want on a pc if u dont like the key board

I'm loving pc versions of everything. And windows live is really robust!
u can get those "Bonus" costumes from either the gold edition or downloading it
Thank you, I will go out and buy it tomorrow so I can play it during the weekend!
it does make your cpu a little slower because some of its space gets used up. This depends on the type of cpu you have also. If you have an older one like me then I see were they are coming from.
You are not wrong, they miss me too,but i like both gameplays and the old and this one, here chris shows the best of himself
ye some people.. but you cant compare controllers and the mouse and keyboard becouse the speed and accuracy is way better on the the pc.
almost forgot
merry Christmas to you too
In response to TheReaperWarrior
I'd say it should run good on your PC. There's an RE5 Benchmark program you can download - it came out a little while ago. It should let you know how the game will run.
The SF 4 benchmark was very accurate, so I'd expect the same with RE5's.

oops youre right there was a black cop. re2 was actually my favorite in the series.
I think the one criticism I have about this video is when he talks about the framerate as a result of too much to process. This all depends on how powerful the computer is - just variables

Geforce 9600 GT (under the recommended)

2GB Ram
Windows 7 32-bit
DX10
I ran the action scene in the benchmark tool and got an average of 50.3 frames per second on highest settings at a resolution of 1280x1024.
you know the PC version also has the option to have the laser dot right?
just plug in a gamepad, or xbox for PC controller..and there you go.
k thanks for the response :) I think I'll buy it and than if it doesn't work out I'll just keep it until I can afford a better system...
split screen means you can play with two players offline on the same moniter or screen.
And then you notice that the only people really complaining about series changing are those afraid of change, not the ones who loved the series.

im pissed off man, there must be a way to get them extra costumes on the 360 version
@franzken like u can understand any difference between 75 and 60 fps

I wish no mercy mode was in the DLC they made for the consoles. It looks how the original game should have been in the first place.
Yeah, I can't believe people try to tell me you can be just as quick on analogue controllers as w/ keyboard/mouse.
man aiming on pc is awesome.
yea, Im basically downloading new programs and such. Flash Fireworks and Adobe Reader. Also some Microsoft programs.
RE4 having such a big inventory was one of my main problems with it -_-
I think the greatest difference isnt the graphic, its the mouse and keyboard... makes thing so much more precise :P
I wonder, is Sheeva's new alternate costume based off of Mia Fey's business suit?
Sweet costumes, I want them downloadable for 360.
oh and they need that No mercy mode on the console version, Me and my friend always end up killing everything in mercs and we either have 2 go after the chickens or it will just abruptly end. I want No mercy in Mercs Reunion!
high end pc needed?i got a low end pc and it still runs very well on the benchmark test, even on high 0_0

THE PC Version kickass!
but this no mercy mode and the new outfits must be released to ps3 and to xbox as an update

I would like to know this too. I know some people are getting the game early...
What's your point? I thought we were talking about the 9 series.
finally, I was waiting for this one to come out
Perhaps higher res textures? Probably can't tell by looking at a RUclips video.
How so? Because I was considering picking this up off of Steam.
"Limited extras"??
He's saying like it's a bad thing, but you're getting more stuff in the PC than in the console versions anyway. So how exactly getting EXTRAS, no matter how few they can be, is bad?
@vmkSAVAGEGUY
Generally speaking, if you don't know how to check to see if your PC can run a game, it can't, and you're not well versed enough to be self-installing the required hardware.
I currently run this game with the Phenom II x4 955 (3.2), GTX460 MSI Cyclone (1Gig), and 4 gigs of DDR2. It runs flawlessly on Max settings. The PC version will be the best because of the Modding Community. There are already 4-5 RE5 PC mods out using only resources from the benchmark.
I tried the keyboard and mouse technique, it was difficult to aim. So I'm going to get the controller for it.
@MrShadowhearth , You play the live version? , PLEASE , Can you give me the Serial for the game to play LIVE? :3
@Johny40Se7en well when u get infinte ammo its way easier, plus its kinda cool how they kill wesker since is basically almost immortal and that was actually the only way to kill him
thanks god they made the pc version for resident evil 5
Wait, is this 3D gaming suppose to be like the new 3D movies? Does it require polarized glasses as well?
Back when Sydnee wasn't a part of IGN.... old days...
They should release those new costumes as free downloads onf XBOX LIVE and PSN.
forgot to mention that you dont get the dlc that is on the console version. there is no way to even buy that content for pc.
i heard this version had unlimited mercs, thats so cool,i got to get this game for PC
Oh boy.
I was expecting this game to be crap, but me and my friend just completed it on Co-op and OH BOY was it fun :)
I'm to busy no-lifing Oblivion (almost 100 hours in, about 2/4 done? idk...), waiting for Skyrim and Final Fantasy Versus to come out.
they probably came up with the idea after the realse of the counsle vertion. it probably will become dlc soon.
Say hello to the definitive version of RE5.
Chris looks like a raider from Fallout 3
What's on mercy
