If I'm wrong then I'll admit it and apologize but I highly doubt third kits are going to drop around the time of Grand Festival like some of y'all are saying. I really don't see that happening since Splatoon 1 got third kits as a thank you for how successful it was and 2 got its third kits during the extension. I don't see any reason why they would drop third kits for Splatoon 3
People don’t want third kits for all weapons, they want third kits for the weapons that have lackluster vanilla and second kits.
I was never under the impression there was gonna be more updates after this, they said they would update the game for 2 years and it’s been (almost) 2 years
they said catalogues would continue for two years. i don't understand why updates would stop and it's genuinely baffling me because nowhere did they say updates would stop after two years

I don't know why people were ever so set on thinking we were going to get a content extension. That's why its called a content EXTENSION because it is and was never in their original plan. Even in Splatoon 1 and 2.
I still see people replacing the air in their rooms with Hopium, but yeah.
And personally I'm fine without third kits, I just hope that some of the weapons that got not so great ones this game get better ones next game.

For what its worth nintendo just DMCA'd a mod that adds the Sheldon's picks to S3
This is the most concrete proof we have for third kits as nintendo has a habit of shutting down mods that do things similar to official content right before its anounced :
For example Project Gamblitz getting DMCA'd right before the Inkopolis DLC got anounced, AM2R right before Samus Returns or Mario battle royale right before Mario 35
Its high levels of copium but considering its the ONLY mod that got dmca'd recently it holds a biiit more water
Ngl I knew this update cycle was absolute shit when june 2023 came around.
In the same amount time every s2 weapon had its second kit.
And overall the updates were pretty lackluster with the same amount of things than s2 updates but with longer wait times.

I personally was never expecting a content extension or third kits, but it still would have been really nice to have. Even if one person only used 1 or 2 of those third kits, with the whole playerbase a lot of third kits would be used, plus it would just be a lot more variety.
I still think there's a chance. Obviously not right now, but I'm honestly surprised by how much "new" there is this update. Like they went and added an entirely new hub, a new tri-color stage, _and_ a salmon run version of that stage all for grandfest. Yeah, that's all content that's going away after grandfest, but that's still a lot of work for a season with "no new content." They also went as far as putting together a unique catalog for this season. It's recycled content, but I fully expected them to just copy-paste the 2022 drizzle season catalog and they didn't do that. _And_ they changed how you earn sheldon licenses three months after a significant portion of players would have already unlocked every weapon in the game. So I dunno, it doesn't feel like they're quite done with Splatoon 3 yet.

Splatoon 3 has exactly 2 more weapons than Splatoon 2 did. Yes you heard me right, _two._ Splatoon 2 had 28 third kits total (not counting duplicates), while Splatoon 3 introduced 1 new weapon for all 9 old classes and 3 new weapons for the two new classes. 15 new weapons with 2 kits each, for a total of 30. We could argue that the quality is better, but in terms of numbers Splatoon 3 just barely managed to clear the previous game by the slimmist of margins at the final hour. So in my opinion at least, saying it has more weapons is a moot point, the difference is so tiny it might as well be the same.

1:53 Each and every time third kits have been released, they didn't make a big deal of it, they shadow dropped them on us when we least expected them, so this part of the argument isn't very strong.
Whilst it is still possible we won't get 3rd kits, if the devs follow through on this, this'll further cement this game as "good, but dissapointing".
There's no reason to drop third kits is what I'm saying. Splatoon 2 got third kits because it had an extension. There isn't really a reason for devs to shadow drop third kits for no real reason. Especially with how they've treated Splatoon 3 so far. It just doesn't seem likely
I guess people were holding out hope for 3rd kits bc a lot of people were very disappointed and upset with how they handled the 2nd kits in the game. There's a huge disparity in the amount of weapons that got specific subs and specials. Barely any (good) weapons had Fizzy Bomb, Torpedo, Marker Dart, & Burst Bomb. All the while, we got an overabundance of weapons that got stuck with Sprinkler, Splash Wall, Point Sensor, & Curling Bomb and most of those weapons are worse off for it.
The hope is that maybe 3rd kits would rectify this problem and add some much needed variety in the kits.

I still think there's a chance for third kits, but I definitely didn't think that we'd have any this season at all. Splatoon 1 and 2 had a break between the end of the second kits and the third kits being released.
Of course, don't get your hopes up. I think the only way this game gets a content extension is if Nintendo decides against releasing Splatoon 4 alongside the Switch successor, or if Splatoon 4 is not already in development.
I think this game is fun as it is though hope the catalog and season structure doesn't stick around next time. Aside from that, I'm happy with what we have.
Tbh I think they won’t but like it would be a real shame since like back in s2 they would do 1 kit every week or 4 kits every month, so for s3 to have the same amount of kits as s2 did they would’ve had to have 12 kits per season, which they obviously didn’t do. Is a shame, but for now s3 might be the only Splatoon game that has only two kits per weapon 😅
The developers have to concentrate on S4, so the skeleton crew that’s on S3 will all have to move on as well. You better believe they’re super hard at work with the next gen game and whatever new mechanic they’re unleashing upon us. Don’t think of the end of the seasons as a bad thing- we’re closer to S4 than you think.
While I do understand your points about how there’s more weapons in S3 than we had in S2, I’m gonna be real some weapons kind of need a 3rd kit to possibly be saved.
While having 2 kits for each weapon is nice I don’t blame anyone who is waiting for a surprise drop of 3rd kits and honestly I’m with them because I fell victim to bad kit design with my main.

That's true but Splatoon 1 got them as a thank you for supporting the game, Splatoon 2 got them because of a content extension. Splatoon 2 was supposed to get one year and was extended to 2. Splatoon 3 had 2 years off rip. I don't really see a reason why they would drop third kits for 3. There have been absolutely 0 signs of third kits

I'll admit, I've been keeping quiet for talking about any hopes to see if Nintendo will pull content from under the rug for 3rd kits. Currently my view on the game is that a content extension is not likely, while 3rd kits are not looking good but can still happen. I'm thinking that if nothing of new content by the next "season" change is revealed or shown for the game I'd say they could be done with the game. There is always the chance to have un announced content later for when we think the game is dead, but the hype can't go on for forever. Nintendo to me, feels like they might be leaving just enough room for 3rd kits to happen, but not enough to out right say it if they want to release it later at a time of their choosing.
I will also admit that I might be seen as someone that doesn't like Splatoon 3. I don't like some of the decisions about this game, but the game is very close to being very good. I would say Splatoon 3 has the most potential to be continuously updated for the next 1-2 years. The subject of the quality of the updates is not up to me with how the updates have been so far.
Splatoon 3 has done great improvements from Splatoon 2. I don't know if this is just me seeing Nintendo's decisions when they fumble when others are used to it, but I know that they will have to do a lot more, to bring be back in, if they come out with a Splatoon 4. I rather hope that Nintendo leaves this game with 3rd kits some time soon, but I'm not holding hopes to not see it happen.
It is possible for a little bit of third kits to be dropped around grandest, less likely, but now it's easier to 1* a weapon for Sheldon licences, but I can't tell if it's for completion now that there'd no more kits, or because more kits are coming. (I always thought that there won't be anymore seasons, just that they'll drop randomly)
Nah there should be 3rd kits no matter what, its Splatoon ***3*** and despite what you say, 3rd kits are very simple and with how awful most kits were, we deserve better

i agree that its unlikely for us to get third kits but i heavily disagree that the game doesnt need third kits or that no one will use them. alot of the people that ask for third kits are asking for them because alot of the current kits are bad or just mid. for example, i main painbrush and i desperately want a third kit for it because the vanilla kit is just fine and the second kit clearly is just meant to be used to spam missiles.
yes, people will use one kit more over the other, that will Always happen no matter if its second, third, hell even fourth kits. thats just a side effect of being given a choice

The game has a whole new story? Assets have been reused since the first, the weapons are new and old, they’ve been doing this since 2, and the dev team isn’t at fault, they’re the ones getting overworked by Nintendo.
If you think they’re dumb, oh well, just don’t buy their games and start praising them when they release a banger.
Any game can be improved, just because it’s not what YOU want doesn’t mean it’s bad. You just deviate from third kits to buffs when the balance is fine right now. We have dynamic maps already, that’s no longer much of an issue aside from a few.
Screen was criticized because it caused people to actually get sick. We don’t need custom kits, the maps are functional, and we have enough gamemodes.

Being overly negative like this isn't really any better than people ignoring the flaws. Custom kits aren't needed (they'd be nice but they aren't a necessity), the maps are functional, and now modes, just like custom kits, would be nice but aren't really needed. Calm down there a little bit my guy

@KNGDDDE What exactly did I say that was wrong? How does takes like mine not change anything. I agreed that there are flaws with the game but not the way you're explaining them. Yes the maps do need to be more than hallways but saying they aren't functional is just not true. Custom weapon kits won't really solve anything since everyone is just going to go with meta picks anyway. Adding new game modes would be refreshing and welcome but it isn't needed for the game to thrive
