I'm a hardcore simmer, but I don't think having a career mode is gamifying it per se. Not like most pilots in real life get to have their own flight plans, lol. I think this is going to be huge, with the only downside, possibly, being the asset streaming, but time will tell how well that works, and what kind of internet speeds are required.
Enjoyed hearing your perspective on the gaming aspect of FS24. As someone who's been simming for over 42 years, I'm very much, looking forward to FS24. I won't be going through the gemming side of the sim, but will be exploring, mostly. I'm hoping the hot air balloon is free-flight friendly, and not tied to the career mode. Thanks for the video. :)
As someone who first tried a flight simulator with MSFS2020 but is also a dedicated gamer, the way that I kept myself motivated to play MSFS was I decided a few months ago to fly from an airport near where I live (in the Midwestern USA) completely around the world in a few different single-engine propeller aircraft (mostly the Cessna 208), trying to keep most flights between 1-3 hours each. Because of these limitations I had to swing north a couple times to not find myself stranded in the middle of an ocean without fuel lol. It took me a few months but I finished a couple weeks ago and really enjoyed this experience (helps that I also fit in the “virtual tourist” category and am a huge geography nerd). I can’t wait to spend more time focusing on the basics (I can admit my flight around the world was done with weather turned to clear, always in daytime, and with more forgiving difficulty settings) through the career mode system.
I have a friend that didn't like the 2020 because it lacked direction. He didn't really know what to do and he thought learning it all sucked. For me I liked learning it all and flying on vatsim and so on. I'm glad 2024 has more for everyone.
Yeah... I mean, I'd prefer a world WITHOUT endless effing "content subscription" models... but at least Gamepass is genuinely decent value by comparison to some.... PLAYSTATION PLUS looking at your shit-encrusted ass.
Career mode is not "gamifying" MSFS. It gives you a reason to fly and goals to work towards. I have been using Neofly as a career mode for MSFS and to be honest, I would swear that Microsoft "appropriated" a bunch of their ideas for the MSFS 2024 career mode. If you don't want to do career mode, stick to free fly mode which still exists. My biggest problem is waiting for the next 5 days 14 hours and 22 minutes until I can get my hands on MSFS 2024.
This is pretty crazy, I was hyped for the game but only to give it a quick fly around and just give it a test but now I'm absolutely gonna spend many hours playing it.
Trekker is what non trekkies think that us trekkies are called. It is trekkie, Blunty is correct. The first time i ever heard the word trekker was in a documentary by some documentary writer.
I never played 2020, but I played a metric F load of X. One of my favorite thing about X was playing all the missions. There was a good variety with varying level of difficulty and it had good replay value. I preordered 2024 last month and I’m excited to try it out and do some missions!
Its not so surprising that they did a career mode, it was a highly requested thing in MSFS2020, and there were several addons that attempted to provide a career mode. I think its a good thing they did that, it makes it more accessible, it attracts more people, and the more people who plays MSFS and the more profitable it gets, the more stuff we get for the sim in the future.
Any job where you may be required to depend on a good seal with an air/oxygen mask will require that you have no beard while on duty. However, mustaches are generally okay in fields where you have a full-face seal.
I'll be honest I really loved the missions from flight simulator X way back in the day, I was happy when they started to bring it back with the landing challenges in 2020. The idea of doing rescue missions or air races with the most realistic physics possible makes my nerd brain tingle all the happy juices ❤️❤️❤️
Many games have traits of both like this one or try American truck simulator where you drive around the US but you also can buy trucks and run a truck firm.there is also a European version and a Australian one is coming out soon
I'm aware, in fact I was recently gifted Euro truck Sim to try out - it's neat. Point was, this is a first for MS Flight Sim, and I'm trying to make it more visible to people who'd perhaps normally ignore flight-sim because they THINK they know what it is (or was).
a career mode isn't a bad idea, honestly you wouldn't jump into a A320 without doing training, it's like driving a car you need to learn so why not have this
It baffles me that some coffee sipping boomers still think a career mode or multiple different flights is not part of simulating being a pilot or fly planes and they don't want to improve or add more to the simulator. Career mode literally enhances the simulation and immersive aspect of a flight simulator, same for building your airline, I'm so happy they finally decided to go for it after we've asked for over 10 years, MFS is finally evolving.
Thanks for bringing this news out Blunty, I last ever touched this and having fun with it was a year and a half ago during the beta phase. Looking forward to hoping back into this again after being busy away with life stuff n school.
Your only talking about 1 market, plenty of corporate pilots have beards … Also let’s not forget that there’s more to the world than just the US … Almost all Arab pilots have beards in addition to the Euro carriers that also allow their pilots to have a beard. I myself I’m working on my ppl with a full beard with no intention to shave it, and I live in the US.
Changing the controls of an aircraft to "press A to accelerate and press B to decelerate" would be "gamifying". I don't know why adding a career mode that "simulates" the day to day job of a pilot (we can argue about the implementation) would be a "gamification". You still need to fly aircraft the same way you always flew them in any flight simulator. But what do I know.
@@BluntyTV The comment was not really directed towards your video. I was more referring to the definition of "gamification" many users like to use just for the sake of "downgrading" the realism.
How will this compare to apps like Neofly though? I thoroughly enjoyed Neofly on 2020, and I'm hoping an integrated career mode will replace the need for 3rd party apps.
Gamifying implies dumbing it down so your child could do it. MSFS 2024 is not gamified whatsoever. Already pre-ordered and can't wait to begin my career as an Airline Transport Jet Pilot.
No. Thats not what it implies. And if you think games are only for children, what the fuck are you watching gaming content for? Go pay taxes and complain about the music these days Mr too grown-up-for-fun.
they can "gamify" the simulation as much as they want.. unless I can up-gamify my PC with a GPU in the $3000 range (everything costs more in my country), I'm not going to spend $$$ a game I can only experience in a severely cut down and shittificated mode
I'm just waiting for the game to get released. I tried the 2022 version and was unable to get into it. I really think this new gamification will help me to love the game. Btw, even Minecraft is better with quests 😁
I really would like to play this, but I dont have a 400GB extra harddrive lying around to house this massive game. It would also take weeks to download on my shitty internet. So sadly, because of the insane filesize, this will remain a no-go for me
The new game depends more on internet streaming for assets so the game size is reduced from 100s of gigs to just 50gb. I played the alpha and it was just a 9gb install. I hope that gives you some hope

Do you plan your flight path in career mode when flying airliners? What info do you know?
how is asset streaming a downside? its there so it wont take 100s of gbs of your storage

Making MSFS more accessible to us casual gamers does nothing but benefit everyone.
Pilot's don't have beards for 1 reason the oxygen masks won't make a good seal and not work as they should
