Even though you used Scotch33 tape ( it looks like it to me). It is the best tape / but it is still TAPE on a Truck not a house. Liquid tape or heat shrink tape will keep the moisture out far better. Liquid tape is readily available at Slows or the Depot, and it is easier to use. I keep a bottle in all my truck tool boxes. I have helped dozens of people out of a jam due to tape failure.
There are probably a million trucks/cars and ATV's running around with taped up electrical jokes. But it's like going to a Whore House and taping up your Johnson, sooner or later the crud Is gonna get in and reek havoc.
If you are at the shop and/or have a heat source HEAT SHRINK TAPE is the hot ticket.Oh yea a BIC lighter ,or a Zippo isn't a preferred heat source ( wrong kinda Joint).
The idea of going to a parking light socket wire is way smarter than going into the main wires AT the pins for several reasons . Mainly for repair / replacement issues. And the fact that you don't have tohave a meter. I don't mean to insult anyone.
I watched this due to a friend saw it thought I would like to way in due to me being so anal about electrical tape and vehicles.
