Love this comment and totally agree with you. I haven’t read the books because honestly I’m so in love with Alec and his character arc in the tv series... probably one of my favorite characters ever ❤️
I read the books after watching the series .And honestly I was a bit disappointed because there is not enough Malec in the books .We don't get to see any of their relationship milestones .We don't see much of character growth .Clary and Jace are even more unbearable in the books .They don't care about anybody and do stupid reckless things. There is very little Malec .They don't communicate that much .They don't talk through problems like they do in the show .I prefer show Malec over books. @@areebarashid8584 I loved the books! Malec was portrayed very well. Yes, in TMI there hadn’t been a lot of Malec (but the times were it did happen- TOTALLY WORTH IT). Of course, in TID Alec didn’t even lived yet, so no Malec here. But, in TOTSA Malec does happen, and it’s really really really cute. Same goes for the Magnus Bane Chronicles and The Dart Artifices. XD (yo excuse me and my bad english, also my love for the books and malec things heheh, I really recommend them!!) EDIT: As u can see, I‘m just speaking about Malec in the books here, but maybe I should add something. The books are written very beautifully! Sometimes (often) Clary and Jace are doing some stupid shit, but they grow out of it. And I can only repeat myself, read the books! :D
I haven't read the whole book series yet, +I'm on the 4th one) but the books focus HEAVILY on Jace and Clary. I never minded Jace, but Clary is the absolute worst. But Alec is in the book a lot, although there isn't as much Malec as the show has. I still HIGHLY recommend the books❣️
I’ve bought all the books, mainly for Malec and to make sure I don’t miss anything. what I can say about mortal instruments: it’s mainly clary’s point of view and Jaces so to me, it absolutely sucks because these two characters are the ones I cannot stand. I think they are both kinda toxic and forced together. they both say how they would die if they can’t kiss each other or be around each other and it just gives me a weird vibe. I know Magnus makes appearances in the other books so that’s why I’ve decided to read the rest. I don’t think mortal instruments gets good until around book 4-5. that’s when they start bringing other point of views more. you get to see more of Alec, Izzy, and Magnus being vulnerable which I love. I think if they would’ve brought these characters more frequent earlier on that the books could’ve been so much better. a lot of people prefer the books (and Malec is definitely worth reading) but I still think the show is a lot better. I love seeing other side characters.
@@Littlecrowfriend 10% in love with Magnus Bane?? Have you watched ShadowHunters? Anyone who is a Malec fan knows that the love these two have 4 each other is the realest and most purest thing you ever c. No. No. He's 90% salt, 10% sarcasm, and 100% in love with Magnus Bane. Their love is infinite and will never die.
See Clary annoys me because she showed up out of nowhere with not training or any knowledge about anything and expects everyone to drop everything and save her. When Alec complains that she ruined their mission she goes off and whines to Jace and Simon. They're breaking the Law for her and she doesn't know the consequences of it, they're harsher in the shadow world then the mundane world. She is risking their lives so of course Alec would be pissed. Like what if a shadowhunter was cast out and wanted to be a mundane, killing people to save her self, Clary would be pissed. All I'm saying is I'm on Alec's side because Jace and Izzy trusted her to quickly. I mean they are shadowhunters.
I agree - she was basically willing to let everything go to shit for them, in order to save her mother, which was pretty damn selfish, expecting them to drop everything and help her for no reason when, as Alec had rightfully said, they literally had NO reason to trust her. I hated how she was basically totally selfish, always bringing up her own needs every chance she got. I get it, she lost her mother but The Team were there to help her (bc Jace decided it was worth it to throw themselves to shit) out of choice and they already knew the rules of the Shadow World and they were trying their best to play by the rules as much as possible, but she was just being a brat about things, so I don't blame Alec for being so salty towards her. I would too, in such a situation.
@@kirantaimuri8292 yea, it was so selfish of her to expect them to drop everything for her mom, who was married to someone who's literally public enemy no.1, and she was his daughter. in that situation, i wouldn't trust her and hell ya i'd be salty
totally agree bruh clary annoys me sm like what're you so whiny and selfish. I'm glad alec was in the series to humble her and I wouldn't have been able to watch past the first few ep if it wasn't for malec
As much as I love sour Alec: I love how much he's grown and changed in the series. He rarely hurts people when he's frustrated (Magnus told him off for it in the first episode of season 2 and Alec barely did it since). Alec went from being very moody and in pain, to rarely self harming (he tends to bleed his hands when he's feeling a lot of emotional pain, usually through over-training), and learning to work through his issues on a personal level. Part of that is how much power is was given. In season 1 he was basically deemed scapegoat for the Lightwood family by his parents, siblings and the Clave. Once he broke out of that and took his own way, he was capable of forcing people to look at his work and his progress and make them understand that he has done everything he could with what he was given, that he cares about other people, and that his abilities should speak for him. Part of it is also his own personal happiness. Once he was given more happiness, it wasn't as easy for people to go against him because it didn't look good for them. He was no longer just a 'stick in the mud' for them, he became an individual who made sense, but unfortunately it took him 'earning that.' Since he's very depressed and lacks the social abilities his siblings have he had to work 200% harder to get to the point of being respected and being happy. He can't completely win. 1. because the Clave is corrupt 2. because he's still unlearning his biases 3. people still go behind his back on issues that could severely impact his ability to run the Institute. But all in all, he's progressed so much as a character and I'm really glad.
Alec is a designated scapegoat-thank you, that's what I was trying to put into words for myself. I've just stumbled across this fandom, so I haven't watched the show itself yet, just multiple video clips & quotes. But that does seem pretty clear. I'm not saying he's always right or doesn't sometimes need a check; but they could do that without mockery, blame, or sabotage from people who should be on his side. It's clear that he's capable of great affection, even sweetness, when he has the freedom to allow himself to feel & express it.
Alec is the only one that reacts with common sense when Clary shows up. I hate how everyone treats him like he is just annoying and stubborn because he feels like it. I mean if a random girl showed up from nowhere and turned out to be the daughter to your greatest enemy what would you do? Just invite her in to your secret base and teach her everything about your plans and wepons?!
My favourites are "I'm the guy whose about to be disowned when Dad finds out Jace and Clary are still out doing god knows what" and of course. "We're about to overpay some warlock." Haha some warlock he says. Future husband.
The fact that he made 1,000 accounts just to dislike this video, says that he must have been in a foul mood....maybe he found out about Will from magnus or something :D
I know I'm practically alone in thinking this but ... Alec's right. Clary came into their world and disrespected their laws, traditions, etc. Whether they were right or wrong, she had no care as to who she upset or hurt. All she cared about was getting her own way. I think about Alec, who's the one who's supposed to be in charge, and I think about all the things that the Clave could have turned around and arrested him or deruned him because of the actions of Clary, Jace and Izzy - because they refused to listen to him. He gives an order and they jump to disobey. And, no, I don't agree with everything Alec said/did. I know he needed his head pulled out and given a huge dose of reality (which he got with Magnus). But the fact remains that, as the interm Head of the Institute, everything that they did could have been laid at his feet and none of them ever seemed to take a minute to think about that. And Jace, who's supposed to be closer than his blood-brother, took one look at Clary and practically trailed after her like a puppy. He never listens to Alec or even tries to. Clary came out of nowhere and is Valentine's daughter - Alec was right. Whether she is innocent or not, they should've been a little more careful instead of bending over backwards to help her. ..... Sorry for the rant, especially on a funny vid. I'm sick with the flu on Christmas and I just needed to rant. Happy holidays
Ikr!! I keep saying this to everyone. Atleast Clary got more tolerable in the upcoming seasons. Jace is still the same narcissistic self indulgent dumbass
City of Heavenly Fire: Jace: "I'm an open book" Alec: "I can read you like a very pornographic book" Jace: make us pie Alec: "no. For three reasons" 1: I don't have the any ingredients 2: I don't know how to make pie And 3... Jace: what's 3? Alec: "I'm not your bitch"

EDIT: As u can see, I‘m just speaking about Malec in the books here, but maybe I should add something.
Alec and Derek would get along sooooo well

I'm glad alec was in the series to humble her and I wouldn't have been able to watch past the first few ep if it wasn't for malec
well, the books were better lol
@@vanisha6000 she was just as annoying in the books.....
As much as I love sour Alec:
I love how much he's grown and changed in the series.
Honestly an underrated comment/fact
Well said👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Alec is the only one that reacts with common sense when Clary shows up. I hate how everyone treats him like he is just annoying and stubborn because he feels like it. I mean if a random girl showed up from nowhere and turned out to be the daughter to your greatest enemy what would you do? Just invite her in to your secret base and teach her everything about your plans and wepons?!

I think it was in season 2 when that happened. I know about that scene and I haven't even watched any of the episodes in season 2 yet! I'm still in season 1, I only know about that clip because I've watched that clip on youtube several times. If I was able to recite the whole(almost) conversation between alec and magnus from that scene, I think I've watched the scene/clip too much on youtube. Alec is ok once he catches feelings for magnus and they get all relationshipy with each other, but I think I like alec better the way he was in season 1 instead. He's more.. aloof, doesn't really care about much, cold?, can be nice occasionally, in season 1? He's good in the scene where he walks in clary's bedroom and starts to apologize to her then she says they can get her mom back and alec teams up with her to help her get her mom back. I don't know which season that was in but I don't think I got to that season yet. As I said, I'm still in season 1 😅😅
