Maybe it was enough to be the first person to tell Alec that he was worth being seen ahead of anyone in a room, and of being looked at longest. And silver, though few people knew it, was a rarer metal than gold.
It's so nice to see a Malec edit after so long. It's been years since I read the books and watched the series but damn is Malec still close to my heart.
@@yagmurates968 there is! (fan of both the books and the show here) The Eldest Curses series, currently including the Red Scrolls of Magic and the Lost Book of the White are Malec Centric. The Bane Chronicles is Mangus Centric but has three stories on Malec. All pretty good books that I had fun reading and recommend! But if your introduction to Malec is through the show, just keep in mind that the characterization and dynamic of Magnus and Alec in these books are somewhat different than that in the show, partly because they're younger in these books (for Magnus I think arguably mentally younger, but Alec is a teenager in the books) but IMO in the later shadowhunter chronicle books where Malec is not centric but featured, they're somewhat closer to their show counterparts with a more mature and "married" relationship, so if you want you could search for snippets in those books too!

I struggled to get past season 1 because of it I still haven’t finished it but I watch every Malec scene I can find because it’s the on Y thing I’ll accept in the show
I also can't bear to watch a movie or series adapted from book if I have read the book first. While many times they edit and cut out scenes, this is one of those where they have completely overhauled the plot, character development and everything in between. I guess that's why a majority of audience watched it for Malec as their story/rshp was still worth watching even with all the differences.

I agree. It’s way too fast. If no one can read it, then what’s the point? At 2:21 it says “And you’re not losing this one”. I had to slow it down to half speed to catch that. The editor could’ve been more polite in their response.
Ok y'all I'm about to drop some truth. I love the actors who played Alec and Magnus I mean I think they are the best casting in this show, but this relationship is so much better and has so much more depth in the books. When you can actually understand Alec and Magnus's internal struggle and situation in the books and it is so beautiful. And I'm sorry but this doesn't capture the true beauty of there relationship. The actors are great the scenes are awesome but the books are better.
@madisonadams7552 OK so they actually have a few to choose from so the red scrolls book is about that trip they took in between the third and fourth book of the immortal instruments and then the book of the white is about them as well but it also hast Isabel and Simon and clary and Jace as well, but before that I would read the shadowhunter academy whis is technically about Simon but trust me there are amazing and I do mean that in every sense of the word Alec and magnus scenes because something happens that is beautiful and special so start with that one. But if you haven't already read the immortal instruments because again the TV show did not captivate the true magnificence of it especially when Alec finally comes out to everyone with magnus and when Jace finally "finds out" about magnus and Alec is priceless. Sorry for the long explanation, but I love these two. Oh, I almost forgot there is also important scenes for these two in tales from the shadow market.

@@detaiIs Well, I haven't seen the full show, but for me as a reader it is mainly just that when I'm reading I have an image in my head, and when books are turned into shows/movies they rarely will match what I see in my head and it will feel like a different story. Not only that, but every reader sees a book differently so a movie/ show is never going to match everyone's image of a story. Idk if that makes sense, but I hope so😂

The raw structure is roughly the same, but everything else is wildly different; to a point where I don't even call the Shadowhunters series an adaptation, but more an alternate-universe spin on things. I really enjoyed both the series and the books, but they are very different stories.
