    the wistfulness -- "i laugh like me again, she laughs like you" -- all the promise of a new love, with all the longing remembered from a past one. edited to add: this song is a paean to jazz and big band tunes. he namechecks at least a dozen hits from the 1930s to the '60s. his mother is an artist with eclectic taste, and his father, a jazz drummer, so he grew up listening to iconic tunes from earlier eras.

      That's great information on his family. Explains a lot about his musical taste and skills. Thanks for sharing!

    I love your interpretations! Hozier's songs are filled with easter eggs, all types of refrences to many things. This song, for instance, is filled with song titles that he grew up listening to . In my opinion, the different shots all come together to the same message of how music is incorporated into memories and in general happiness. I like how you pointed out how he was alone with his guitar, I guess thats where he finds his happiness in music.

      Hey Melina! Thanks for the kind words! I had a feeling his music has a lot of hidden meanings. I love that! Sometimes the best place to be is just alone with your guitar and your thoughts. Clear out the clutter. Don't forget to subscribe for more :)

    Love this breakdown. You do it your own way and I love the individualism of your approach, and the way you respond to the whole thing, the video, the colours, the transitions, and the music too. Your connection to Sinatra era for his vocals was startling and refreshing. You’re giving us things to think about.
    If you’re doing more Hozier, it would be great to hear you respond to one of his more folk sounding tracks, like Shrike for example.

    Coming from the same album as this song, you should look at To Noise Making (Sing). It's super positive and kind of like a love letter to freedom of expression.

    I wouldnt of put him into R&B but glad you enjoyed it 😁if you want to get more insight for yourself he has behind scene for most of his videos

      Yeah it's hard to gauge what genre to put the artist in. Especially when they sound so different from song to song. But yeah he's probably more alternative then anything else. Thanks for watching :)

    • @caitlinmcdonald607
      @caitlinmcdonald607 5 лет назад +1

      Yeah agreed he does have some elements of it yeah so hard to place artist I also think genres have changed their original meanings

      @@caitlinmcdonald607 yes that's very true. I think I might switch up the theme from genres to reactions based on requests. That way I can at least hear the song and judge the genre that way.

    • @caitlinmcdonald607
      @caitlinmcdonald607 5 лет назад +1

      @@fajitv9970 yeah so many songs have elements of multiple genre like way there a wide range of different genres the way ur doing it now you could group some of genres and do day with nothing specific but do what ever you think works best for you

    • @fajitv9970
      @fajitv9970  5 лет назад +1

      @@caitlinmcdonald607 that's a great idea! I'll most likely do that and just narrow it down to a few genres and days without anything specific. Thanks for brainstorming with me. :)

    You should do a reaction video to the band. CAAMP any of their songs are great I recommend so long honey, send the fisherman, no sleep, or peach fuzz
