when my kids were born 2 decades back, my mom made that for my wife. It's supposed to be a restorative soup to help mom recover. The taiwanese version is a little different, but same origin. when my kids were sick, I would make it to help recovery. One key thing is the type of chicken. I find regular american chicken isn't as flavorful. When I make it, I get whole chicken from local asian market, which is leaner and has better flavor.

Best wishes to the Lau family on the addition of a beautiful new baby🎉😊. As I am watching the making of this soup I was a little disappointed by the discarding of the skin and tail . These two parts are what I always use to make my bone broth….afterwards I air fry the skin for a crunchy treat….but the tail has been eaten by me immediately after removing it from the broth ( my grandfather used to say that the tail meat was the sweetest part of the chicken ( or turkey) and I grew up tossing a coin for it. Lol! Love your show and have made numerous recipes❤😊
