For anyone wondering, running MEC, is using MANUAL ENGINE CONTROLS during a game. You will have to go to the controls tab, go full real controls - > manual engine controls - > set key to switch between MEC and auto engine - > adjust the keys for the radiators while putting the relative control to YES. Now enjoy your slightly cooler engines :) (PS: Id recommend to do the same for prop pitch, fuel mixture, supercharger gear control, because they tend to be useful in certain aircraft)

95% prop pitch and 65% both rads for the S0, S1 and G55S you can wep all match long. On hotter maps 75% both rads or you can go 90% prop pitch and 60% both rads.
I test flew the premium 55 and while it does seem like you can do pretty well in it consistency I felt like I didn't have the performance. Hopefully the 4.3 55 is better, because they are sexy planes and it would be a shame if I didn't learn to like them.
The G55S is my best aircraft, a true monster that keeps getting it BR raised and still performs so much so I grinded the full tech tree in less than 10 hours when it first came out

I absolutely relate to this comment, it's really funny to see bf109 trying to out turn you or go full boom n zoom and make them overshoot 🤣 the fun stops when you find a spitfire, sadly, the spit performs better than the G.55 in turning fights.
@@elnewbie2611 you can still beat them if your lucky and play well enough, they compress a little worse than you so if you dive and dodge their guns you can squeeze and overshoot, you also have slightly better thrust so if you take the fight slow you can't probably get some good angles, I'm speaking from experience so take with a grain of salt
I remember quite a few situations over the years where I got a pilot snipe and the enemy just kept flying as if nothing happened. I always thought the game is pulling some bullshit moves on me, I never connected the dots that it's due to the fact that the plane had more than one pilot...

Hey, Defyn. Could you make a video on the B7A2? It's shockingly good at 3.7, and puts helldivers to shame with its much better climb rate, top speed, sustained turn, deadly gunner, and energy retention - you can kill XP-50s in the vertical by switching between your takeoff and landing flaps.
In a 1v1 the Helldiver will actually put up a good fight against the B7A. Sure the B7A is faster and has a better climb rate but its climb rate isn't that superior. It also has a number of problems itself handling wise.

It isn't anything like a fighter. As for comparison to the Helldiver? The WEP climb rate is misleading to use for the B7A. In the mean time the Helldiver gets around 10m/s with no ordinance or gunpods. It isn't official that the C-3 is going to 6.3 yet. That was just Gaijin's initial proposal. When they release that info they also create a thread in the forums where they take suggestions from the players. That thread closed earlier this week. The devs will go over the feedback that the players made in the forums and then release the official changes very likely early next week.

AN/M3 are just bugged while MG 151 lose more speed at range which makes long range shots harder. 20mm Mineshells used to be one shots against some planes and easily disintegrating bombers, now they are not much different than other HEF shells. Currently HMG caliber explosive shells are way too deadly so 20mm HEF are not much better in comparison.
how do you figure out what your plane is good at. You keep saying you have to know your plane, and the enemies. But I don't really know how to figure out if my plane is good at something, do I have to memorise the flight model of every plane to know that my plane has 10% better energy conversion in a dive or is there a list somewhere for what each plane is good at, at which teirs. or what stats are good for which tier
You may ask people on discord or YT (you could join Defyn server) . Ask them what plane you need to know about Don't trust the Statcards they're mostly inaccurate But for a general view, US planes are mostly BnZ fighters Germans are energy fighters using engine power and energy to outmanuever certain planes (not all) and BnZing stuff it can't out manuever / out turn Brits are 99% turnfighters (stuff like hurricanes, spitfires) Russians yaks are manueverable (not spitifire level) with few other special traits. Lavochkins and I-185 are energy fighters and BnZ fighters Japan is pure blooded turnfighters (all they can do ) China, Italy, French usually have mix of the planes of mentioned nations.

It's funny to think that this the Fiat G.56 use to cost 50k sk repair yet it was understandable as it was at one point one of the best birds in game, Meanwhile the Tacoma class Frigate USS Hoquiam PF-5 is the worst ship in game with no redeeming factors while costing as much as a F-104S.ASA to get get yet it was once 50k sl to repair at one point. It's absolutely astonishing how they calculate repair costs within this poxy game.

This plane is really confusing to play because it's a mix of boom n zoom and turning fighter, it's like it has 50% of boom n zoom and 50% of turning rate, same thing happens to the G.55 they kinda mixed because they have decent rate of climb and decent turning rate, only thing that kills the g serie is the engine overheating always, not even fully spaded you get away with that problem, overall a decent plane, but it's hella expensive for how it performs honestly, I feel like repair cost shouldn't be more than 5k for this plane because like I said, it doesn't perform that good.
i haven't played WThunder in a while bc my gaming laptop died.....but i use to enjoy the C202 EC when it was way below BR 4.0....think it was 3.3 Br?!?.........LOL
@@scootiepatootie7721 How so? Ta has better armanent, less ammo, comparable speed, starts with a lot of altitude advantage, can dive faster, has better flaps and energy retention, can dive faster. They are comparable dogfighters, G.56 may turn better at 750 IAS, but Ta will start above and this alone makes a big difference.
@@bezimienny_andzej6425 The Ta-152H is faster at all alts, has better flaps, better MER and better handling in all axis at medium high to high speeds. The G.56 has a better climb rate and better handling at medium speeds and slower. The G.56 is more new player friendly in that its strengths are more straightforward to use (contrary to what Defyn said in the video it will outturn most opposition that it faces and it does so fairly comfortably) but the two of them are more or less equal to each other. Edit: The Ta-152H has the best MER of all props in the game but the G.56 is also one of the best so the Ta-152H's MER advantage isn't nearly as big as it is against most other opposing fighters.
@@rainsilent Yeah, I though G.56 can do high G turns like G.55, but it seems it actually compresses more. It has a decent rudder-cancer-roll, but generally I'm not a fan. And better climb is offset by Ta's airspawn. Generally once P-51H goes to 6.7, Ta can go to 6.3 while G.56 would be OK at 6.0

Repair costs are a fucking joke. No reason for them to be in the game other than Gaijin trying to force players to buy SL, or by Premium time and a premium vehicle to grind for SL. Without Premium time even a Premium vehicle won’t really gain you SL unless you are above average at the game.

To be honest prop fights are the most boring part of this game. Don't get me wrong, I love plains and joined war thunder to fly, and still this is the main reason why I play this game. But the thing is with the current state of air rb it's all about outclimbing your opponents. No proper ground targets, no proper objectives - just TDM. And in this state the only thing players can do to get advantage is to climb. This drives me nuts, honestly, because brilliant realization of planes of all kinds suffers from horrible game design. Remember events like battle for Britain? This is a perfect example of what EVERY SINGLE MATCH of air RB should be like. Fighters do not fly and kill other fighters randomly in reality, they need purpose, such as: defending some objective, attacking some objective, clearing skyes and capturing air supperiority for SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. We need a rework of air rb so fucking much. P.S. Love ur content. You're the best pilot amongst wt youtubers and most enjoyful to watch. Bought ur decal, it rocks! Peace.

I actually really liked the Italian props. G56 was difficult. I prefer the Re2005 but still enjoyed the G55's and G56.
Same I like Italian props but I'm opposite to you I prefer the g55s and the other props along that side of the tech tree.

It isn't official that the C-3 is going to 6.3 yet. That was just Gaijin's initial proposal. When they release that info they also create a thread in the forums where they take suggestions from the players. That thread closed earlier this week. The devs will go over the feedback that the players made in the forums and then release the official changes very likely early next week.

Tf did they do to 20mm recently? An/m3s are ass in jets, mg151s hit like 13mm
An/m3 has been nerfed like two months ago, mg151 is mediocre since a lot of time now
They have been tweaking the guns and aircraft DMs quite a bit over the past year. Mostly gun changes though.
AN/M3 are just bugged while MG 151 lose more speed at range which makes long range shots harder.
20mm Mineshells used to be one shots against some planes and easily disintegrating bombers, now they are not much different than other HEF shells.
Currently HMG caliber explosive shells are way too deadly so 20mm HEF are not much better in comparison.

Limit is about 840 km/h. I don't know if rip speed actually changes from stock to spaded.

how do you figure out what your plane is good at. You keep saying you have to know your plane, and the enemies. But I don't really know how to figure out if my plane is good at something, do I have to memorise the flight model of every plane to know that my plane has 10% better energy conversion in a dive or is there a list somewhere for what each plane is good at, at which teirs. or what stats are good for which tier
You may ask people on discord or YT (you could join Defyn server) . Ask them what plane you need to know about
Don't trust the Statcards they're mostly inaccurate
But for a general view, US planes are mostly BnZ fighters
Germans are energy fighters using engine power and energy to outmanuever certain planes (not all) and BnZing stuff it can't out manuever / out turn
Brits are 99% turnfighters (stuff like hurricanes, spitfires)
Russians yaks are manueverable (not spitifire level) with few other special traits. Lavochkins and I-185 are energy fighters and BnZ fighters
Japan is pure blooded turnfighters (all they can do )
China, Italy, French usually have mix of the planes of mentioned nations.

It's funny to think that this the Fiat G.56 use to cost 50k sk repair yet it was understandable as it was at one point one of the best birds in game, Meanwhile the Tacoma class Frigate USS Hoquiam PF-5 is the worst ship in game with no redeeming factors while costing as much as a F-104S.ASA to get get yet it was once 50k sl to repair at one point.
It's absolutely astonishing how they calculate repair costs within this poxy game.

This plane is really confusing to play because it's a mix of boom n zoom and turning fighter, it's like it has 50% of boom n zoom and 50% of turning rate, same thing happens to the G.55 they kinda mixed because they have decent rate of climb and decent turning rate, only thing that kills the g serie is the engine overheating always, not even fully spaded you get away with that problem, overall a decent plane, but it's hella expensive for how it performs honestly, I feel like repair cost shouldn't be more than 5k for this plane because like I said, it doesn't perform that good.

i haven't played WThunder in a while bc my gaming laptop died.....but i use to enjoy the C202 EC when it was way below BR 4.0....think it was 3.3 Br?!?.........LOL
Why are realistic air battles so much calmer?
Mostly due to less players on a larger map but also due to high repair costs in higher BR’s making everyone play more tactically.

@@scootiepatootie7721 How so? Ta has better armanent, less ammo, comparable speed, starts with a lot of altitude advantage, can dive faster, has better flaps and energy retention, can dive faster. They are comparable dogfighters, G.56 may turn better at 750 IAS, but Ta will start above and this alone makes a big difference.
@@bezimienny_andzej6425 The Ta-152H is faster at all alts, has better flaps, better MER and better handling in all axis at medium high to high speeds. The G.56 has a better climb rate and better handling at medium speeds and slower. The G.56 is more new player friendly in that its strengths are more straightforward to use (contrary to what Defyn said in the video it will outturn most opposition that it faces and it does so fairly comfortably) but the two of them are more or less equal to each other.
Edit: The Ta-152H has the best MER of all props in the game but the G.56 is also one of the best so the Ta-152H's MER advantage isn't nearly as big as it is against most other opposing fighters.
@@rainsilent Yeah, I though G.56 can do high G turns like G.55, but it seems it actually compresses more. It has a decent rudder-cancer-roll, but generally I'm not a fan. And better climb is offset by Ta's airspawn. Generally once P-51H goes to 6.7, Ta can go to 6.3 while G.56 would be OK at 6.0
@@bezimienny_andzej6425 The G.56 pays dearly for the more powerful engine up front. The engine itself is more than 300lbs heavier. The G.56 pays for the increased power with notably worse handling.

Repair costs are a fucking joke. No reason for them to be in the game other than Gaijin trying to force players to buy SL, or by Premium time and a premium vehicle to grind for SL. Without Premium time even a Premium vehicle won’t really gain you SL unless you are above average at the game.

To be honest prop fights are the most boring part of this game. Don't get me wrong, I love plains and joined war thunder to fly, and still this is the main reason why I play this game.
But the thing is with the current state of air rb it's all about outclimbing your opponents. No proper ground targets, no proper objectives - just TDM. And in this state the only thing players can do to get advantage is to climb. This drives me nuts, honestly, because brilliant realization of planes of all kinds suffers from horrible game design.
Remember events like battle for Britain? This is a perfect example of what EVERY SINGLE MATCH of air RB should be like. Fighters do not fly and kill other fighters randomly in reality, they need purpose, such as: defending some objective, attacking some objective, clearing skyes and capturing air supperiority for SOMETHING TO HAPPEN. We need a rework of air rb so fucking much.
