@@brainyskeletonofdoom7824 still today, most people don't know how good that bullshit is once you unfold your combat flaps for 10 seconds to reserve them lol, biggest enemies of g.55S are spits, zeros and the most annoying ones the La-7 and Yak-3s , P-51 has absolutely no chance if you play it right lot of people complain about premium bias in the G.55s when the plane is average for the br, nothing especial it's just that you don't see it too often.

It works because the only people who fly it love to fly it, so every time you see an Re.2005 it's not a 5% chance the pilot knows what they are doing, like most aircraft, it's 50/50.

My favourite plane is the Re.2005 and I predictably have a good k/d with it and know how to use it. You're absolutely right. With gems like the Re.2005, only people who love it will use it, and they will destroy with it.

@@Fuzeha yeah sure, slower than a spitfire Mk14 in a straight line, less agile than a p38 despite being lighter and handling like a fucking bomber, a monster good enough to get out fought by a tu-2. The thing makes 50 cal feel like 45mm proxy fuse howitzers on it and it's one hell of a massive target.

Remember that f2g became a thing and that the rest of allied props went from 20k repair cost to barely 5k thus being spammed. Fighting vs usa is no longer bombers and attackers, it's all props that clock 730kmh at sea level, out dogfight everything that's not a yak3u or more agile and absolutely can catch up against your climb rate.
P-47 bomb cut is mint.
My all time favorite italian plane has still gotta be C.202EC on release. 3.0 with a cracked FM and MG 151s that oneshot everything they looked at... was very fun.

My favorite plane! It's true nobody knows what to do with it because it's so rare, although it helps massively that US teams around that tier seem to be allergic to altitude. It's a joy to fly when you have energy advantage.
From my experience you don't even need an energy advantage. I'm fine every time, only fought one guy who knew how to keep me energy trapped in hundreds of games with the Re.2005.
I think why we all love Defyn’s videos so much is because seeing that “aircraft destroyed” text so many times in games is complete neuron since we all see it so little lolololl
I remember when this was 5.3 with it's older flight model, it was insane, then they changed the flight model and it was kinda okay. Then it went up and up and up...like every Italian and Japanese prop ever. Go figure.
They keep going up because they perform exceptionally well besides being shit planes. Having a single helicopter plane in the enemy team completely changes how you have to approach a situation and decreases your margin for error.

It is good to see this thing flown out again. The last time I saw this in a video was made like 2 years ago by Adam the engineered. The game changed so god damn hard it is just ridiculous.
The C205 serie 3 and the Re2005 were the planes that made me a bit decent at air rb so they have a special place in my heart. Also they helped me get the J6K1 during the event and other event/premium planes. Love them and I'll die on this hill

This was one of my favorite planes in the entire Italian tech tree even when they nerfed it... when it was at 5.3. It felt like a 109 had a baby with a Spitfire. Fantastic guns, fantastic energy, and fantastic turn performance. At least, that's how I remember it. It's been a while since I've flown it in Air RB.
Now, I use it for CAS because it has a 500kg bomb along with the 100kg on each side. It's absolute murder for CAP duties though, I love clearing the skies around the battlefield after I drop my big bomb.

@@DFlaminberry It's why I love their aircraft tree so much, the props anyway. They feel like a hybrid of two fantastic combat styles, and they're very fun despite the weaknesses.
C.205, G.55, and Re.2005 are three of my favorite prop fighters in the entire game.

Defyn thank you for all the information in your videos. I used to barely be able to get a kill in Air RB, but I just had my first 5 kill game (at 3.0 with the A-36) thanks to your demonstrations of how to avoid head ons, manage energy, and survive engagements more.

Agree on the airfield change. Such a small change but god is it great. No more dealing with airfield campers turning back whenever they are losing a fight
That crashing thing is a new bug. Seems to happen when you open the map around halfway through the match.
Have it too last time yesterday, this time it happend in worst moment when i was in a fight aiming at a red Fighter, was suddenly back on startscreen Win 10 and it took few secounds to be back in game , no kill and i was in trouble. When it happens in the climbing Phase i have no Problem with the crash, a click on the WT Icon on the Taskbar and in 3-5 sec. iam back ingame.
What i really hate is "Serverconnection lost" because in all cases when they kick you out from server the Plane is lost within minutes
One of the most gorgeous fighter planes, shame no entire airframes exist, only a tail subframe exists in a museum.
Italian props are the most fun tbh. I love seal clubbing with the basic C.205, the lower BR is worth having no cannons.
I remember even that even when Breda 12.7 mms were bad, that aircraft could still be an absolute menace if you aimed carefully at engines and fuel tanks.

Honestly one of the only machines that keeps WT on my PC. I do tend to only play Air sim, where she's an absolute dream to fly. But I still can kick some ass whenever I bother with RB
Your title sums the Re.2005 up perfectly. I also am baffled at how a plane with the performance of a 4.3 Spitfire F Mk IX is at 6.0, but it is still playable at that BR because players suck at that BR, you can still use your advantages and early jets don't stand a chance in a dogfight.
Generally, when you have a maneuverable plane that hardly anyone plays or sees, most people will just full-send dogfight it. Things like the IL-2s, the Su-6s, the Ki-108, the SB2C Helldivers, the MB.157T, the Dehaviland Venom, the Canberra Mk6, etc. All of these are very agile vehicles that nobody assumes are capable dogfighters because nobody uses them, so they just try to turn around you even when it's obvious that you're gaining position on their tail and only ditch out and try diving away when it's already too late.
It's a nice fighter that can show its tail to enemies and lure them in.

My biggest gripe with the italian fighters is how stiff they feel, its hard to describe. They feel a bit harder to get the nose on target than other planes. Though ive become quite fond of the g55s lately in my italy grind.

It is worse in every way performance wise compared to the 4.3 F.IX Spitfire. It would still be way, way over BRed at 5.3.

I guess it fits into the meta better than the G.56 due to its good 1v1 abilities and dealing with energy disadvantages, while the G.56 is good in 1vX with its great energy retention - albeit there are more 1v1s(with the enemy having better energy) than anything in rank IV for the Allies-Axis matches
The only reason this is 6.0 and not 5.3 or even 5.0 is that it fights US mains at 6.0 bracket. Half lawnmow and half dives after first ju288 they see.
Despite being the only fighter on my team in vast majority of the matches(due to Ju288 spam it gets into a lot of 6v6 matches), 70%WR, 49: 12 KD in 23 matches. And this was by far my least favourite Italian in t3 and t4 - it had horrendous stock syndrome, going 520 in level flight and unable to go past 620 in dive... F8F or P51H outrun you in level flight as you dive on them.
the re2005 is a chore to fight against if you're in something like the average 6.0 gunboat (which is what half of 6.0 planes are) but anything like a corsair or a yak 3u 0.3br lower will spank this thing. As much of a Mk9E spitfire the re2005 is it's still a mediocre mobile for 6.0 and mg151's are no longer what they were, especially against american aircraft which is what you face the most on it.
Funnily enough, I use this for combat air patrol in ground RB. Even at higher tiers, the enemy planes never expect it to slap as hard as it does
i love playing the 2005. it's my favorite prop. Imo it is an excellent combination of great guns and good maneuverability. I didn't play most of the summer and it seems to me that they nerfed the engine. it seems to have less power and overheats where i used to be able to WEP all match no problem

Italians props are the best in game, you can't change my mind. Enjoyed Spitfires, 109, 190 but this and G.55/.56 can't be beat

As an Italian main, this plains are very easy to beat, if you encounter a spit or a zero in any of those Italian planes, you're pretty much dead as they turn better than you.

@@Pixel_Hunter81 spits and yaks have better engine than any Italian prop, they also perform better than Italian props at mid and high altitude, if you fight a zero below 2k meters altitude, you're pretty much dead, dunno why u think italian planes are good against other turn fighters and energy fighters, they barely have average performance

for the flaps guide if you could point out some aircraft where flaps are useless, i heard the J7W's don't work(?) and aircraft with quirks in their flap usage, i know the F-8U has those lading flaps that'll throw you into a spiral if you don't understand them ahead of time lol. Out of curiosity, might you be willing to do some air RB ground attack demonstrations that show you how to not suck major ass at ground pounding and be a benefit to your team? The A-26 was really fun and ground pounding is kinda underrated (because Gaijin hates ground attack tbh)

I personally think that it is absolutely useless garbage to use flaps on take off for fighters, because it causes more drag than lift.
But ppl are using it for some reason, and keep telling me that it is smart to do...

For one circles I know flaps generally help, but I'm curious if you could test a plane like the Tornado or F104 against itself flaps vs no flaps in a rate fight and see if the marginal gain in turn rate is worth it
I still have nightmares of when it had a godly climb rate and would punish every single prop it came across. Now it just feels like fighting a spitfire but with really good guns
Tbh, this plane actually shock me when i start using it. I hate the early re 2000, because its armanent is hella awful compared to the c.202 line. Nobody knows how to fight me nor i know how to fight them, but slowly i started to learn and understand how to do it. And yeah, it left some good impression in me now.

Re. 2005 is a prime example of gaijin incompetence when it comes up to balancing vehicles, this plane was perfectly balanced but because italy players are experienced ones we see what we see.
THIIISS! as soon as I play other nation i get clapped but when I play Italy (my main nation) I somehow do good, I guess it's because vehicle knowledge after a couple of hours playing the same vehicle you know what it is capable of and what not, I tried Russian bias and man, every match 1 kill and then die because they have a mixed play style.
It has nothing to do with Gaijin incompetence in regards to balancing vehicles. That is done by the player base. It was the player base that voted for the 2005 to go up to 6.0 even after it's nerfs. Gaijin even stopped it from going up from 5.3 after the FM nerfs for one patch saying that they didn't think the aircraft deserved to go up in BR. The player base popular voted it to go up in BR and Gaijin let it happen.
Tbf, I won't mind if it 6.0, but if it have it original repair price to boot. Problem is they nerf both

The Chinese tech tree will prepare you pretty well as long as you take the time to learn the aircraft you play. F-86 and J-2 (MiG-15bis) are both excellent jets to learn the playstyle

I dont have italian Planes but i hate this thing when flying my 5.7 Griffon and Merlin Spits because in many cases the Re2005s are flown by experienced Pilots, G.55/55S/56 are no problem but this thing is nasty even if you press them down to the deck they turn on a dime, hard to catch, and if u are out of energy you are dead
i flew 2005 quite often before it repair price went up. You are right if it up against (early) Griffon Spit. But Merlin ones, i always dreaded LF Mk VIII unless i have altitude advantage, which was not often. Against this in early Griffon, i always play those Griffon as more energy fighter as i consider Griffon Spit is completely different plane than Merlin
