- In this video, we’re looking at how to redeem Chase points for flights using Chase credit cards with 3 examples. Check out the Best Credit Card Bonuses This Month: danielbraun.me/_Slickdeals
Chase Ultimate Rewards Points are some of the most valuable travel credit cards points out there, and to get the most out of redeeming Chase points you’ll need to transfer them to Chase travel partners! That point transfer feature is available on both the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve so you’ll need to get one of those credit cards first and then earn some Ultimate Rewards Points as well.
But once you’re ready to redeem these points, the process is pretty easy - but the challenging part is making sure that you’re getting good value for your credit card points. That’s why I wanted to walk through 3 Chase point redemption examples for booking flights to some popular destinations to hopefully give you an idea of how it all works! Both the Chase Sapphire Preferred and Chase Sapphire Reserve transfer to many different airline and hotel travel partners at a 1 to 1 rate; so as long as you are getting above 1.25 cents per point on the Sapphire Preferred and above 1.5 cents per point on the Sapphire Reserve, then you are getting good redemption value.
This Chase Ultimate Rewards Explained video will further expand on some of the Chase Ultimate Rewards Points topics I talked about in my original Chase Points Redemption Guide video - so go check that out for more details on anything discussed in this video!

Finally, we need more videos like this. So much content in this space about how to earn points but not enough about best ways to redeem. Please do more international examples in the future and tie in Hyatt properties as well when talking about Chase. Thanks!
Check out Max Miles! He goes over how to use and maximize points through different tranfer partners!
YES. THANK YOU!
Yes please make one for amex!!
Defenitely more of this
The southwest example was really good! I had no idea you had to call chase travel portal to book southwest flights! SUPER helpful thank you
Love this video. We talk so much about how it’s possible to get outsized value with our chase points, but we usually don’t take the time to show it, so this’ll be really helpful for people. Thanks Daniel!
Smh can't believe no one replied to you. Firmly agreed! Cool to see you guys both in one place.
I’ve been a travel & credit card hacker for years now. I watch most of credit card youtube channels. I just found you and had to take time out to let you know this was one of the best, informative tutorial videos I’ve seen. 🙌🏽👍🏽
Lots of expert knowledge conveyed in a clear way without being condescending.
As mentioned by others, I love seeing credit card youtubers explaining more about how to extract the most value out of points and not just about intro bonuses.
I subscribed and look forward to seeing more videos of yours!
Awesome video! I have had the Chase Sapphire Preferred for about 5+ years now, and I always thought transferring points to airline partners was too complex. You made it easy and worth considering in the future! Thank you.
Appreciate the detailed examples. Very well thought out video. Looking forward to part 2 👍🏼
Omg this was soooo helpful! Thanks for the multiple examples. You explained this better than anyone else.
Extremely helpful video. I just got the chase sapphire preferred and this helps a ton . Thank you so much Daniel !
I just started watching your videos over the last week or two. They are on point big time.
Great video! I got my SP approved and excited for it to come. Definitely helps a lot these examples, upload more!
Super Dan strikes again. Well done and I love the visual examples. They key of course is to find the best travel partners. Southwest is known to be pretty poor and since I take a ton of domestic flights with Southwest, my points can stretch pretty well w/o transferring more points in. Hyatt is the classic max value for hotels. Way to go on this. I'm impressed again.
Thanks Scott! Yeah Hyatt is my most used Chase transfer partner - Southwest is very cheap for both points and cash prices so I figured I'd show that as an example as well. Appreciate all the support as always!
Keep these type of videos coming!! I booked LAX to HNL for November when the 30% bonus was in effect. Now just looking for a return flight!
Nice! I forgot to mention those limited time transfer bonuses as well because they can be huge for even more value!
Thank you this was very informative. I just booked around trip airfare to Honolulu flying out of San Jose for just a little over 24,000 points. As of right now I still have a Companion Pass so I went with Southwest. Even though I am older I am new to the points game so I appreciate guys like you taking the time
Thanks for watching Dave! And that companion pass is so valuable! I should have mentioned that as a way to really boost what Southwest is worth
This was very very good Daniel👍🏾 looking fwd to the Bus/1st class international bookings vid!
Thank you so much. Your videos are so well put together and extremely informative. Keep up the good work!😊
Amazing details and explanation on how to redeem points to max potential Daniel! Can’t wait to use your strategy on my next trip!
Way to break it down super clear Daniel. Love these examples.
Please do more of these! SOOOO clear and helpful!
Great examples. Love the info Daniel!👍👏
I absolutely love Chase's ecosystem when it comes to the available travel partners, and it's a huge reason why I decided to get the Chase Trifecta. Love this style of video in which you showed us actual specific use cases, since we like to talk about maximizing redemption value through travel partners all the time, but don't necessarily always have time to fit in specific examples in videos. Great video as always Daniel!
what is the chase trifecta?
@@matthewmcneil216Having the Chase Sapphire P/R+Chase FF+ Chase FU=Chase (TRI)fecta
Thank you for explaining for beginners. That is EXACTLY what i was looking for.
Happy to help! Love to hear that the video was useful!
Ok... You're amazing! You made it look so easy and understandable for me! Thanks, great video and channel!
Just found your video and I have a Chase Sapphire Reserve card and I’m building up points. I’m a newbie to this points way of traveling. For some reason I thought I had to book directly through Chase. I didn’t know I could transfer points to a partner, I will watch this video to get a better grasp but thank you so much!
I really like to transfer my points to Hyatt too, such good value! Thanks for the examples.
Love learning about different ways to use chase points for great value!
Hands down the best channel on discussing credit cards. Holy hell this was informative.
Great video! As much as we can say that we can get amazing value when transfering out your points, a lot of people don't show people how its done! More videos like this!
Thanks, man. Your content was helpful.
Another fire video🔥 My girlfriend and I are going to Disney in a year and she thinks I’m a legend because I know how to do this stuff! All thanks to you brother!!
Oh wow, first time I’ve seen an add for SD’s by a credit card RUclipsr. You getting big Daniel!
Thanks Daniel!* Love the videos and your effort to make complicated concepts easy to understand shows!
Thanks so much for that Matt! I'm really glad to hear that the videos have been helpful!
Great video Dan! I'm really starting to get into the points redemption game and have found some great value through Hilton so far. Your video is definitely motivation to keep searching for the best deals!
Thanks so much! Yeah Hilton can be good depending on how you use them. I personally haven't redeemed points there yet but actually plan to for a trip in the fall from a deal that I was looking at!
This is some great quality content! One thing you might have missed with air france is that one-way ticket prices are always inflated compared to round-trip tickets so those fares would have been lower if you searched for roundtrip. And miles are so valuable because you get the bypass the high one-way prices if you plan to go to multiple places in Europe and return from another city.
Thanks so much! And thanks for letting me know about round trips prices with Air France, I didn't know that but definitely useful!
Great video! This was very thorough, the best video of this type that I've seen. I would enjoy seeing something similar for Amex points. I got a CSP with around 80k points and an Amex Gold with around 150k points and I am trying to learn the most efficient way to spend them. I don't have much experience with travel or Cc points so videos like this are very helpful.
Great video Daniel! Such great information for Chase points
Wow I so didn't know you could book Southwest via the travel portal on the phone!!! Daniel I mean I love your channel! You teach me so much about how to get max value from my CSP
Yeah, definitely a nice little trick that anyone can use! Thank you so much, I really appreciate hearing that!
I loved this video and would love more of this content, so that people can maximize their points
Wow - such an information-packed video, my friend! Great work. You just keep getting better and better! And your channel growth is proving it! 😊 Take care.
Thanks so much Anthony - really means a lot for me to hear that!
Love the video! Thanks for making everything so easy!
Thanks for watching, glad I made it easy!
Would love to see a side by side comparison.
Chase vs Amex vs capital one vs non portal.
Very than you !! I appreciate the example videos ! Saludos desde Puerto Rico
I am new to all of this but am so excited to learn and let the system work for me.
dude, your videos are so valuable man!!! seriously thank you for the walk through!!
Thanks so much for saying that! Happy to help and glad to hear the videos are useful!
❤ great tip! Thank you so much. Our family is planning a trip, and we are certainly are going to maximize the use of our points.❤
i love your style and clarity
This dude is ON IT ! Nice video man!
Thank you so much - appreciate it!
I agree completely! If both economy and business are at a good value I’m going to look at how long I will be traveling, if I can stand to be in a more compact seat for that time I’m taking the one that cost me the least amount of points and booking a nice hotel with the remainder. I booked an all inclusive in Jamaica for my honeymoon on points, saved me $4,000! Flight only saved me around $3-400. Hotel is way better value
Such a great informative video ! Thanks a lot
Great video.
One thing that people overshadow is compounding of points.
If you take all your CSR points and use them at 1.5 cents per point via dining credit or what not (you get points on the dining you spend, then just get statement credit). You also get the 5x points on travel booked through the portal using cash.
This was SOOO helpful. Thank you!
Hey thanks, I just did my first travel booking to Europe with chase points at almost 7 cents per point value thanks to this month’s transfer Flying Blue bonus from chase. My first Chase UR redemption of any kind!
Chase’s transfer partners rock! 😃💯 Thanks for these examples, Daniel. For those looking to maximize, it’s crucial to learn about those airline alliances as you showed for the flight to Hawaii ✈️
Eeeyyy my 2 favorite wiggas 😎
Amex all the way
Totally agree Mark - lots of great transfer partners for anyone to take advantage of! And thanks, yeah I'm always checking across those airlines alliances for the award flights with the least amount of points, definitely important for anyone to consider!
@@Daniel_Braun Also agree with Mark. One thing I'd like to add is your second example (LAX-NHL). If you transfer from CapitalOne or Citi points to Turkish Airlines Miles&Smiles program, you'll be able to book the same ticket on United for 7,500 points in economy one way. This would be the cheapest redemption that I'm aware of on this route. There're three types of award rates among airlines: dynamic, distance based, and zone based. And TK falls under the latter. It treats Hawaii and west coast US as one zone, which makes it a sweet spot for redemption.
@@wellsw3 Awesome, thanks for the added tip for those transfers with Capital One and Citi! Definitely the way to go for a flight like that!
We need more of these videos! thanks for this!
I definitely plan to make some more of these! Thanks for watching!
Was just looking to book through my Chase Portal yesterday! Thank you
Thanks for watching Anthony! Yeah the Chase portal can be a fine option sometimes depending on how you plan to use your points, but transferring can many times be a way to book the same flights and hotel stays for significantly less points!
Great video! Thanks for the awesome tips!
This was such a great video! Thank you
Thanks! Didn’t know you could redeem southwest flights!
Great Content man, super helpful. It pains me when I see friends use UR points redeem them for Amazon credit or terrible ratio purchases. Travel is the way to go!
Good video with great examples!
Great beginner info. Thank you!
Please make a video with more flight redemption examples! Thank you for this one! ❤
Great examples. Thank you
Here’s a great one I just did recently! Using United MileagePlus miles, I was able to book a one way business class flight from IAD to YVR, with a stop in YYZ for only 27,500 miles, plus taxes and fees of about $30, equivalent to $363 using an estimated valuation of 1.2 cents per point. Given that seats on this route can retail well north of $1K on this route, and Air Canada frequently operates long haul aircraft (A330, 777, 787) on the Toronto to Vancouver leg, meaning you get a private pod that can convert to a lie-flat bed as your seat, as well as lounge access and free checked baggage, this is an absolutely incredible redemption if you can find the award space. It’s a bit challenging to find, but well worth it if you can! It’s also the same price for basically any Air Canada business class flight in Canada, which is amazing for the longer trans-con flights on the long haul fleet
Love the content. Keep it coming
Great video Daniel! Booked a Southwest flight today and was confused why I didn’t see it in the Chase portal… Wish I would’ve watched this video a few hours earlier!
I appreciate you not just focusing on first class flights.
Thanks for this one I’ve been researching also and videos like this are needed instead of people just making wild claims and throwing out arbitrary cpp valuations!
Thanks Chad! Yeah I think the crazy CPP valuations aren't always realistic so I wanted to give some regular "everyday" redemption examples too
Thanks man. Awesome video!
Go birds! First time viewer, and love the video :)
You sir, have earned yourself a sub
First class all the way for me! Great video!!
Daniel, this is Daniel. 😀 Great job on an informative video especially on the trade off between business class vs economy. With a family of four, I’m more inclined to use less points and fly economy and save them for something else like hotel travel.
More videos like this are greatly appreciated. Please make one for Amex.
Much needed Daniel, Thanks!
Thanks for watching, glad you liked it!
Great video. You have a new subscriber!
Keep these kind of videos coming!!!
Thank you so much and will do!
Great video! Def make a part 2!
Thanks Brad! I'll definitely make a part 2
I have Chase Aeroplan (Air Canada) in addition to AMEX Delta. They provided a really significant welcome bonus. I recently made reservations for a flight using the multi-city layover option from Vancouver to Bangkok and back from Bangkok to a US destination. I experimented with various layover locations, including Paris, NRT, Seoul, and Sydney, Austria. Unexpectedly, the system accepted for Sydney stop. No brainer for me that I can still travel to Thailand even when I receive a free flight to Sydney for $310.
Another sweet video
Awesome video! Thanks~!
Great video overall, got me excited to start doing this!
Thank you - glad to hear that!
Hey just found your channel! Great content! Thanks I appreciate you
Great content and break down!
Love your videos. If possible, please do some premium economy and business class examples from LAX to HND or LAX to London. Would you say great deals are harder to come by now that there are so many code share flights? Or are there still some great deals out there?
Love your stuff. I’ve been working on maximizing my point earning. I have yet to use my points and have about 370k between Amex and chase. I am saving for a future honeymoon! I may have to use some after watching your videos, they make me want to travel haha
Hi Daniel - Excellent video. Very helpful. I agree with others that there are so many videos on how to obtain points, but few that show the best way to optimize them with real life examples. My wife and I are traveling to Ireland next year for our anniversary and will be using Chase points for the trip. You mention certain airlines to certain destinations are more popular. Is there a reference anywhere for the best airlines to each destination, i.e., what is the best airline for Dublin? For London? etc. Thanks again for the great video!
Awesome video Daniel! I Would like to provide some feedback when you do this type of example video, it will be good to see the examples with a round trip instead of a one-way since we will have to buy a ticket back anyways, other than that excellent content!
Thank you for this video! I find it just what I was looking for!
Please explain what it means when you said CSP fixedly gives you 1.25 cents per point or CSS yields 1.50 cents per point? And how does this affect one's decision when choosing how to purchase for travel (Cash vs Chase's UR portal vs Transferring to partners).
Love your channel, you have taught me so much! If I had found you earlier I would not have lost out on a referral bonus for getting my wife to join Chase Sapphire preferred card she got 😂.. keep up the great work!
Daniel with another banger☝🏻🔥🔥
You know it - always trying to put out good content! Thanks for watching!
@@Daniel_Braun 🐐🐐
Finally, I get it !!
Thanks for the information.
Good video. I learned a lot. I do have to say I fly to Hawaii a lot and that’s a very expensive flight. I can get a flight over the big island which is usually more expensive for about 400 round-trip not your 335 one-way. but I guess if I could use Southwest and it should be cheaper. My question is can you select the cheapest want to get away flight from Southwest or do you have to just take a standard flight?
Great video and examples very helpful. Is there a way to get chase points over to delta sky miles
Nice and very helpful video Daniel. I'm with you on the third example. I rather fly to the EU two or three times a year in Economy (not Basic) or Economy Plus and use another Chase point to book hotels than use all my points just in business or first class for once.
Here are two examples I had so far, went to Lisbon Portugal in April using 39K UA miles round trip (Economy Plus) and use 80K Marriot points for a week stay.
at the begging of July went to Edinburgh, Scotland using 42K UA miles (Economy Plus) and use 125K Hilton points for a week
With Marriot being a partner with both Chase and Amex helped me gain lots more points when I transfer those points, especially with promotions going on throughout the year (first it was with Amex, and now with Chase) when you transfer to the partner hotels you get 50% more.
And now, I'm planning 9 days VC in Aruba for Christmas, and Marriot all-inclusive is the best option because of the 50% increase with the transfer option from Chase to Marriot (promotion is ending soon), and the flight is also cheap.
Thanks so much Boris - glad to hear that you're with me for how you redeem your points as well! And thanks for sharing some great examples - I really want to go to Lisbon soon so that sounds like a great deal you got there
Great video!
SUCH a good video
Hi! This is a really helpful video! Just one lingering question. After you find your perfect flight, do you just transfer your Chase points over and pray the pricing doesn't change while it processes? This is the only point that has me a little scared to try this.
Hello Daniel. Great info. Rewatched this vid. Not sure what you mean in the Southwest example. If I call Chase do they tsf points to SW -or- make a purchase $ @ the 1.5 CSR rate?
Lets Go, Daniel!!
Thanks for watching!
