Thank you for posting this! My Dad had removed the engagement cable from mine a few weeks ago, while I was down in my back, finally got everything ordered and putting it back together. My clip is different (oval with a partial S shape on one side) and I couldn't figure out how it went, but now seeing everything installed, it makes sense. Very much appreciated!
I replaced the pto cable today but now my mowers running strange the blades speed up and down i ran the cable underneath the bracket and belt do you think that's why help me
@@bakeract5775 Put the spring part on just like this guy did... inbetween. See video 3:43. Also make sure you use all of the cable holders you dont want slack on the cable jacket. Not sure if that would make you m,ower engine surge most likely you just have a dirty carb or bad gas. Three months is how long you should store gas. Just look up "mower engine surging" for some tips.
@@bakeract5775 only based on looking at my own video, and your comment, there is a chance that is the problem. That is, go between those parts; under the belt, over the "bracket." HOWEVER, if I am visualizing incorrectly, and you're referring to a different area, then I don't know. If you didn't have this issue before, then it is reasonable to think installation is not right. But, if unsure about when the issue started, then I would clean the carb.
I face the same replacement issue on a different model with a different landing point on the deck engagement lever. My cable goes to a lever that’s left of the steering wheel.
That little rubber "scrunchy thing" covering on the end where the cable connects to the PTO lever, is needed. I had a nuber of cables break when installed without it. It protects the cable from catching on nuts and bolts on the frame as the cable travels.
I had trouble getting that plastic piece up on the cable aaaand the pin in too.. it was the hardest part of the whole job for me.. i cussed mine on.... it wasnt my ability lol
Thanks for the video! Just paid someone $$$ a few weeks ago to replace an original one (lasted 5 years). Today the replacement broke so I found your video. :) What causes them to break so easily? I have one coming in today from a different repair shop and have taken pictures to show me where the broke one is located at. :) Your video was a big help!
My PTO cable keeps breaking. Too much tension when I lower the arm. Do the pulley arms adjust tension? Brand new PTO cables break repeatedly.. please let me know if you have any suggestions
@@thechriscoxrox if you are buying after market cables they are not made as heavy duty as cables OEM cables.. OEM cables cost more but they last 2 to 3 times longer
Shane, do you by chance have any advise on my adjusting the OHV on my 2008 Troy Built it's a brig's & straton 17.5 HP family 7Bsxs.5012vP.......................277270 I was told if it is hard to start the OHV need adj every year. Lat year I got lucky adj them but not last week
Do you actually have a video showing how the cable is connected to the lever. If not; I've wasted so much time listening to you just ramble on this slow second video.!!!

@Gerald Blythe: Hope you got the answer about where the big spring attaches. There is a small hole on the edge of the idler pulley bracket, directly in front of where the cable is attached to its bracket, that the spring hooks into from underneath.

Did you ever hook up the other end ? WTF...finish the damn JOB ! Is there a video out there that shows the routing for this cable ?
The back end of the PTO cable was very helpful.I need to see how the other end of the cable got replaced ,this is the problem I'm having

dam things are not easy to work on. Cause you got to see whats going on! i would just wrap around and use a cable clamp and be done with it
