Great discussion as usual :) you continue to pick up on a lot of things that can take some people multiple reads before they connect the dots. Keep on trooping! Do you plan to read new spring? Personally i read it in publication order (which i think puts it after book 10 maybe) and find this to be my favourite way of incorporating it into a readthrough :) its only about the third of a regular wot book so can make a nice little interlude before the downhill charge to the finish line
I think I'm just not going to read it during this readthrough... Personally not crazy about a Moiraine prequel so I think I'll just keep it for when I'm finished and craving some WoT without doing a full reread.
@@Smycoo yeh that makes sense, i dont think anything in there is strictly necessary to appreciate the whole series. Though it does give a little more insight into the backgrounds of more mysterious aes sedai like cadsuane and verin too
Wow! You really blew threw that book. It’s one of the shorter ones, but still. I’m glad you overall enjoyed it. I too think people are overly critical of this entry. My advice for the next two books is to think of them as one book that was weirdly split into two, but also to value the character work and setup they achieve when you get the payoffs in books 11-14. Those last 4 wouldn’t be as awesome as they are if not for the heavy lifting done in books 8-10 IMO. Curious to see how your views on Egwene evolve. I think I already know how you will react to Elayne’s future plot line haha. I’m *really* looking forward to your reaction to one of the most iconic moments in book 11 as it pertains to one of our main female characters.
Yea trying to get through "the slog" quickish because I heard 11 is a top tier entry. Finished book 9 in 4 days haha. I'll keep that in mind for 10 & 11 but thinking about 10 having faile, egwene and elayne arcs all in 1 book isn't giving me high hopes... 😂
@@Smycoo Alas, your suppositions will hold true about who’s in book 10, although there are pivotal Mat and Perrin moments too. Think of book 10 as doing your homework so you can enjoy books 11-14. I’ve heard some people say you can just skip 10, but that is absolutely not true.
