    Do not follow the directions in this video. This is not how you remove and install a distributor , and of course there are easier ways to test components of a hei distributor without removing it.

    I like the step by step, question can u hook the distributor on the vehicle like u did removed or it will F*ck things up, the car am asking for its a project car it doesn't have a computer on it no more

    • @NashCustoms
      @NashCustoms  6 лет назад

      Miguel Sanchez you wouldn’t be able to spin the distributor if it’s locked in sync with the cam gear unless you crank the whole engine over.

    • @MiguelSanchez-rm1ic
      @MiguelSanchez-rm1ic 6 лет назад

      NashCustoms could the engine start if it sparks ?

    • @NashCustoms

      Not if you don’t have the spark plug wires connected or even better just take out the fuel pump fuse.

    None of this s*** do you see on RUclips is it going to help it might even make things worse if you're not a mechanic mentality and even then it's vague these guys just want hits clickbait they get you in a lot of trouble if you don't know nothing you probably ought to go to a mechanic are your next-door neighbor as you could end up screwing your damn machine up a lot worse it's already

  • @clinteast7476

    or pull off spark plug wire and put spark plug in wire ,(I use old one)and have someone crank car over while you have plug up against metal..(has to be against metal!)

  • @Bloodcurling

    You should add a newer video including what happens if you have a good coil and no spark. Ignition module or Magnetic pick-up could be bad.

    TOOK THE DISTRIBUTOR OUT AND JUST PUT IT BACK IN.

    I just tested mine the same way...it was showing fire at the plug and it looked strong...so I tested other things...when there was nothing left to test I checked the timing and it was dead on...turns out it was the module...I've had those go bad before but never acted like this...I put a new module in it and it started up and ran fine....again I've never heard of one doing that so that plug wire tester isn't always accurate.

    • @NashCustoms
      @NashCustoms  6 лет назад +2

      Eric Slifkin you don’t have the ignition wire plugged into the distributor. There is wire when key is on will have a 12v power supply this must be plugged into the the distributor.

    I’m not getting power to the main wire. My fuse box has power. Any suggestions?

    • @NashCustoms
      @NashCustoms  3 года назад +2

      That wire should receive power from your key ignition switch in the cab. You can look for a wiring diagram of the steering column and you’ll know what wire provides power and sends power to the distributor. There can be a faulted wire or a bad ignition switch.

  • @trailerparkcryptoking5213
    @trailerparkcryptoking5213 Год назад

    Show how to test module and pickup coil also. Should have shown lining the rotor up with number 1 terminal before removing distributor (with cap removed) and same thing for re-installing. You very much need to check the phasing on your distributor also considering all that carbon in the cap. Your rotor may be having to jump too far to the terminal, this can weaken and burn up your coil!

    • @DS-mm6fh
      @DS-mm6fh Год назад

      Actually the only reason to remove this distributor would be if the pickup was bad , save ppl a whole lot of nonsense by showing them how to test , coil, module and pick up without pulling the distributor..... Especially because a bad pickup is usually the least likely cause . Js

    • @NashCustoms
      @NashCustoms  4 года назад +1

      I would look into ignition power. See if the ignition is receiving power. Make sure to fix that starter wire and then wrap it with heat protective wrap.

    You mention to make sure the wire that powers up the hei has 12 volts. What if it doesn’t? Mine seems to be intermittent.

    • @NashCustoms
      @NashCustoms  6 лет назад +1

      That comes from your ignition so your key has to be on. Without it it won’t supply power so it won’t ignite the spark.

    • @wadetaylor3195
      @wadetaylor3195 6 лет назад +1

      Top dead center on compression stroke. Stick your finger in #1 cyliner and once all the air stops moving past your finger thats top dead center. Point rotor at #1 cylinder #1 wire terminal pointed at number 1. Correct firing order, tightsn the dizzy down so its tight but you can still time it with some effort. Then once your happy tighten the dizzy bolt fown

    Proper way to test the coil is to check the ohm value of the primary and secondary coils.
