“Troll-stav” is the current way to destroy Ashland fortresses from within, summon trolls inside it to clean the place before even entering. You can also use them to destroy dverger strongholds without making them hostile towards you,yes the dverger won't attack you, they will focus only on the trolls XD
Ok, look, I was kinda worried for a sec about the ashlands, but then you came and told me I can get giant skely troll bros, and my inner necromancer perked up like a cold breeze in the chest!

I used the “Troll-stav” on a goblin village. I felt like an evil sorcerer after seeing the goblins getting massacred. I also kind of felt sorry for them because they got slaughtered by the giant walking undead trolls 💀
the troll staff seems prime way to mine the whole flamemetal deposit before it sinks, that log has the reach to cleave trough whole pillar.
The magic weapons from Ashlands are stupidly underpowered.
I love the trollstav, everything else though makes almost no sense in terms of upgrades, since they are either equal in power to or weaker than the mistlands staves.
I agree, imagine grinding for dozens of hours just to get weapons that are inferior to the ones that came before lol
The Staff of the Wild and the Troll Staff need to buffed
While the Staff of fracturing and Drundr need to be completely replaced with superior weapons
If they don’t fix this I’m probably gonna drop valheim
Im a trolstav, ice staff, and staff of protection type of guy... i go into a putrid hole, summon a troll and use the ice staff to have him put the lotion on the skin if he gets too out of control.
I would be so happy if they would make all Capes protect from Night Cold and only have Wolf and Lox protect from "Freezing" condition. The change to the Feather Cloak has made night time movement through the Mistlands just that much less enjoyable. Not overly impressed with the new magic and was truly hoping they would delve a little into a level system and talent tree so we could specialize in either of the 3 general play styles; melee, ranged, magic use. And the inventory is still lacking so badly with having to carry extra Meads to deal with everything in the Ashlands and having so many new materials to pick up. It feels very chaotic with the lower respawn timer there as these mobs are constantly showing up, backed up by Voltures and progress across the landscape is a painfully slow crawl at best for me anyhow.

Well idk about melee weapons but the new bow/crossbow with the nature element is really nice. 15% chance to root the enemy in place so you can keep shooting from a distance.
But can the troll staff can be used to mine copper and silver.. spawn one for an on demand club troll. Sounds useful
Also for those saying the staffs are underpowered - You're not wrong, however I think contextual use is important too. I grinded this game on solo all the way up to the Ashlands boss and then started a new file with only magic gear and food, and not only is it a blast, when your magic stats are leveled and you're somewhere like the Mistlands or Ashlands, you do an impressive amount of damage. The caveat is that if you're gonna play with magic, you basically may as well settle on using entirely just magic gear; trying to stay balanced between magic and melee strats and skills will very quickly turn this game into a souls-like

Agreed!!! I cleared a fortress with just that staff and on the first try. Staff of the wild is almost op.
The staff of the wild has been buffed significantly since this video came out, it did suck before

You can dig your way into the center collom to gain entry and exit easily I am not sure about the outer walls but I will try and find out if you can. Hope this helps.

Backpacks are never being added to valheim, this had been directly confirmed by the developers
inventory space is abysmal and all new mage weapons are kind of meh... ember staff and frost staff still seem to be better
Shotgun lighting staff made with the bloodstone gem? You would think it would use the blue one
yeah it's a weird choice.
My guess is it was originally going to be a blood weapon, potentially even taking health from the wielder to reload, then they realised they didn't have a "storm" staff and just pivotted but didn't change the requirements.
Given the synergy between blood magic (using health) and blood weapons - it would have been cool having a weapon that can tank your health low with some pushback for safety, and then you bubble and smash things like a two-handed blood sword for massive damage.

Then outside of that hit the "B" key you will remove the crafting demands for items, letting quickly craft, upgrade and repair gear on the move letting you play with most items.
From there you can type "spawn (insert food/potion) (insert quantity) to spawn x number of whatever chosen food or potion
you can pickaxe under the second wall of the fortress after u jump the walls with a build ;)
I haven´t managed to pixaxe under it but the corners of the middle tower are destroyable with a pickaxe and then you can mine under there and loot the inside.
@@ElMariachi2004 the first one I went to, I could get under the inner core. They must have patched it cause I did another 1 yesterday and it wasn't possible.
Yes it is and the wall was so hard, it took for me to hit it around 40times with black metal pickaxe level 2, but it was totally worth it, and i got 2 molter core inside the inner wall, and build a stone portal, and im so happy with it, finnaly we can portal metal and other stuff😂

will the giant fire skeletons prioritize the vines from the vine staff?
The vines don't count as actual monsters or NPCs and can't be targeted by enemies

Nah, the skeletons w/shields from staff of protection are your defense as a mage, skellys run interference, tlanf there damage scales with blood magic, my skill is at 86, and they hit for over 100 damage, and can even survive 2 hits from seeker soldiers even without shields.
And skeletons also work as enemy detection, they've stopped me from being abused many times
They can also help keep the new troll skeletons off you once they are done murdering your enemies ;D

no, honestly pairing the dead raiser with the blood shield one is honestly still very strong, the ashlands as a whole is genuinely very underwhelming, especially the weapons
Really wish summons would tp to keep in range. Never really found them to be practical.

Tried pickaxing under the main gate, there is a wall going deep underground. Though it seems like there is no wall under the tower gate.
Can confirm, you can dig under the center tower. You can't dig under the outer walls, though(I got in by simply piling dirt up and jumping). You can also build within the walls surprisingly. I was expecting "a mysterious force stops you", but no it's free real estate 😂

It's actually 120 blunt and 138 fire damage for a max level staff of embers. The staff of fracturing blows up into 12 smaller fireballs dealing basically 120 blunt and 120 fire (same as an un-upgraded staff of embers). The utility that it gains over the staff of embers is that it can do more fire tick damage, however it won't be a substantial difference. Honestly don't even know why they put it in the game. Like if we didn't have the staff of embers I'd be glad to have it, but considering we do, I just can't find a good reason to justify using the staff of fracturing over it. The only really good use I've found for it, is that they are ridiculously cheap and easy to craft, so they're really good for corpse runs, plus you can just throw it on the ground when you get your body back.
@@alekruberry2939 another good use for it, since each fireball counts as a hit you can level up really fast. but you should hit the initial fireball to the target so most small fireball will hit the target.
Another disadvantage of it: it's not good at crowds, despite what it seems it's a single target weapon, ambers is still better for crowd control

Yeah ngl these Magic weapons are disappointing. Like the troll staff is cool but it’s stupid that they can hurt you, staff of the Wild is ok too
But the staff of fracturing is literally the staff of embers but not nearly as good. You do slightly more damage but lose A LOT more range. And the dundr does barley any damage. A lighting magic weapon should be a staff that fires a large lightning bolt or something
Very disappointing, if you’re gonna make the weapons grindy to get then at least make them worth getting 🤦♂️ like if the deep north weapons are like this then my friends and I are dropping Valheim lmao

L take on staff of the wild, if you're good at kiting enemies it's a fantastic weapon for open areas, especially when you're fighting multiple mobs. Best use is to put a couple down as you run around and then pull out the staff of fire for direct damage while you get A LOT of bonus passive damage
OR, I could just run up with Mistwalker and 2 shot just about all of these things...Magic is a joke in this game right now. They seem intent on punishing people or using it.

The quantity of enemy in ashlands makes this staff good. The other biome where you can use is the plains near the fuling village ... or inside...
It's the coolest staff in the Ashland update. A summon so strong that you can't control it, and you're using it when the odds are stacked against you to turn against the tide
Then be sure there is a big enough threat to bring a troll to the brawl. Then pray the horde is strong enough to defeat your eldritch horror

Something to keep in mind is that wet enemies will take extra damage from lightning, so the Dundr *should* obliterate sea-based enemies.
Frost does same to wet enemies
The dundr needs to be replaced by a magic weapon that does lighting correctly. Like a Staff of Lightning, that fires a massive bolt from the sky or something
