My understanding of the air baffle according to my service manual is that it is designed to direct air towards the top of the cylinder heads to aid in engine cooling not so much to reduce wind buffeting, again according to the service manual, removing the baffle on hot summer days can provide the rider with a bit more air, I would recommend fork mounted wind deflectors to reduce wind buffeting.
Good point, that airflow it’s needed behind the fairing. I just got used to it
Thanks for the feedback
Correct may reduse a bit of wind hitting you in the chest im trying to find Firk wind deflectors for my 2021 Limited . If you put a higher better screen on it will help with Helmet buffeting. Ive done it i swap screens for Freeway riding.
I put one on both Ultras I've owned The deflector immediately cuts down on wind coming up past both sides of the tank. Be aware it also cuts down on cooling air over the cylinders.
I didn’t notice any difference and honestly I already forgot about it 😅
And it also depends on the height of the rider, I’m 6.4 so I’m catching all the air 🤘
Thanks for watching
@@MotorHead963 LOL I'm 5'7" (and a half) might make the difference. "Your milage may vary"
😂 that’s why it’s burning so much fuel
@MotorHead963 bro im 6'4" as well. I bought the fork fangs and the batwing deflectors. I dont have any plans of doing the windshield at this stage cuz that air feels kinda clean tbh. Guess ill find out though. Did you wind up finding a solution?
You can turn them in and direct the wind toward you and the heads.
I noticed a big change with the windshield. I like the low look also but it’s minimized the buffeting. Cool page!
For sure tall windshield would help a lot, I’m 6.4’ so it has to be really tall windshield.
But I noticed that most of that air actually comes from the bottom (vacuum effect)
You might want to put a taller windscreen on your bike. It has made the world of difference for me.
Yeah I know, I’m just not a big fan of tall windshields 🙃
If you put poly bushings in when you upgraded your bars you’ll always feel more vibration...they’re stiffer bushing which stops handlebar wiggle but you feel more of the road because it’s not as soft as the rubber ones
You need the fork deflectors
Agree I have a 2011 CVO str😮eet glide and had a ton of buffeting. Tried everything finally got
The front fork deflectors aka fangs and took most of it away. I bought over 10 windscreens and only the 4.5” screen worked with the fangs. Almost all buffeting gone but you get wind in the face and it’s a little louder but comfortable. I also removed the lowers but don’t think that made any difference just looks clean to me. Really appreciate the video!
You’re right. The less buffeting you get the better off you are for sure.
It's your windshield that causes the buffeting. If you put a stock windshield on it will stop it. Or find an aftermarket one like klock works that's tall enough and it will stop it
That’s the thing, I don’t like the look of the tall windshields ☹️
@@MotorHead963 klockwerks makes some pretty good windshields that are small that work as good as taller ones
The windshield doesn't fix the buffering, it helps but doesn't solve it. Only thing that fixes it is the fork wind deflectors. Try it, pit your feet up by your front signals while riding, the buffering stops, hence the need for fork wind deflectors.
I recently bought a 2010 EG ultra, im 6'3 and i have terrible helmet buffeting, i've tried 6"8"10" winscreens and i tried to borrow a wind deflector like you installed in this video, didnt help anything.
I have a hard time going at highway speeds, cause of the turbulence, it sucks - i've bought two different helmets, but its still not acceptable, not sure what i should do from here, i consider tank-lift as i've read good things about that.. how's it going for you, years later..
Yeah not much we can do about it
I think I just got use to it.
Fairing it’s creating vacuum effect and it’s sucking air from the bottom 🤔
Ohhh and also a lot of HD guys ride without the helmet and now I know why, but that’s not an option for me …
@@MotorHead963 Its not an option for me either, we got strict helmet law - shit im not sure i can get used to it, at higher speeds i can barely see.. :D
I'm thinking about buying the Coooling deflector wings from DK custom, and do a tank lift.
Let me know if it helps
I think the only option could be riadglide fairing
Beautiful motorbike my friend
Thanks
at motor head 963 What cleaner did you use on the white wall??
Westleys bleach white
It’s kinda ok but you have to use abrasive sponge and work it until comes of… next time I would use maybe something stronger 🤔
It didn’t work on my 22 RKS.
I think switching to ROAD GLIDE would fix that problem
Thanks you've save me from the purchase.
You welcome
