  • “Is it any wonder that his MPs are following Tory voters and queuing up to dump his party?”
Keir Starmer points and laughs at Rishi Sunak’s Conservative Party after a former health minister defected to Labour over the government’s NHS record, and as looming local elections indicate a bad night for the prime minister.

How odd. They're not mentioning the fact that Sunak's 'plans' are still unfunded. How often are Labour ministers asked about their funding for plans?

I am pensioner- I pay tax on my pension, I pay tax on my savings and I pay tax on the goods and services that I buy. The tax thresholds in the UK have not risen in 6 years- so the treasury is moving more and more people into the 40 percent threshold.
    Interestingly not the PM :)

Sunak ruled out abandoning the triple lock, but he didn’t rule out raising the pension age. That seems to suggest he is considering it. Personally, I’d much rather keep paying national insurance than not be able to retire until 75.

I have known plenty of people who did not reach the age of 65. Some did not reach 55. The workplace is not kind to bodies or minds. The idea that some lilly-soft handed accountant thinks it a good idea to raise retirement to 75 shows a huge level of ignorance about the world of work, and of human biology.

Or that's an attempt at milder gentler voter suppression since in FPTP you vote Tory or vote the Tories out, that's your own meaningful choice. The solution isn't apathy it's being involved.
And why so many different people and organizations are ditching the Tories for the only other alternative isn't because there's no difference. Logically if there was no difference why would they bother to change their support? It's because the Tories are that terrible! Look at the border costs. They're being charged for checked that aren't being performed yet and the Tories were hiding the actual costs from businesses so they found out on the day rather than being able to prepare for them! That's just stunning incompetence and not how any functional government that understand economic basics operates. They still haven't thrown Truss and her nightmare economic beliefs out of the party. And that's just on direct economic policy, look at how horrific the NHS is at the moment. Any competent government understands the connection between health and work. All the Tories have noticed is more people are out of work because of illness and can't quite seem to tie that to the ever growing waiting lists for the NHS. Their solution is to give up fixing the NHS and just penalize people for being to sick to work. As if businesses are really desperate to hirepeople who can't work. Just stunning levels of incompetence that needs to be voted out and replaced by a more sensible party even if you don't agree with their ideology. Chances are at least better the party isn't sitting on information about a Labour MP is calling around trying to get campaign funds to pay off the bad men.
