Gary is right to depersonalize these structural policy decisions away from individuals. Sunak is simply the face of the multi-millionaire class he serves.
It’s impossible not to love this guy….. Even better he’s such a proper Londoner. I don’t mean we are better but it is music to my ears how he speaks ;))

I know these filthy rich c*nts are not paying their fair share. What also irritates me are the lickspittles in my income group who are queuing up to defend the filthy rich and feel the problem is only a case of jealousy emanating from people who don't/haven’t work/ed hard enough who made poor choices!
As a child of the 70s. The tv series 'The Six Million Dollar Man' was one of the most exciting things on tv. We couldn't imagine that amount of money. Now it's the price of expensive house. Nowadays Billionaires are a thing. They shouldn't exist. A fairer society, should have some control of these people's money.
I remember having a pretty heated back and too with some Yank a while back about why His country wasn't the greatest Country on Earth, His main argument outside "the usual" was His country had the most Billionaires totally failing too see that was one of the main arguments for His country failing.
They should not exist and they can only exist precisely because Millions have to have nothing/comparatively nothing for one person to become a Billionaire and that a good number of those Millions with nothing were His fellow Americans.

Ceo/Owners of Companies used to make 8-12 times more than their lowest paid employees.
Its upwards of 500/600 Hundred times now in a lot of Big Corps and commonly above 200 Hundred times.
As Gary has stated about the many crises we all face today they can all be traced back to the main crises that links/Births all crises, the crises of inequality.
So if they do a reboot they should probably call it 'The Six Billion Dollar Man' in order to keep up with inflation. Otherwise the Lee Majors character will just be mistaken for someone looking for a nice house in London.

You are so right Gary to take the approach you have on this individual.
He is the current incumbent of a senior political role but whoever takes his place will follow the same path as it's in their parties interest to do so. We are in a right mess and millions will suffer as time moves on.
Could you make a video which is kinda "day in the life of a billionaire" explaining the impact of their wealth, how they think, like an insight into the mega wealthy. I think people really don't get all that, me included.

The person in power does not matter. What matters is their policies. Are they good or bad. Simple as. Their personality could indicate what they’ll do in their policies, but that’s all their worth. The media definitely should report on it but as you say, “don’t get distracted, look at your money”.

Great analysis as usual but maybe you’re missing an opportunity to make this powerful point on mainstream media. Difficult to do I know but if you go on sky news and say “I don’t care about the drama - look at the policies” that’s a really important message to share.

Sadly the politicians have co-opted this rhetorical resource - BJ's go-to is "ahh all these many and varied scandals are not what the public are interested in, what they want is for us to 'get brexit done', deliver the levelling up agenda, blablabla"
Edit: by scandals I don't mean partygate. I mean the elite's lack of accountability when it comes to every single thing during this neverending tory rule, not least the millions of public purse pounds that were handed to tory friends during covid in exchange for absolutely nothing
I agree! Gary doesn't have to talk about Sunak on mainstream media per se but about the policies that will remain even after Sunak has gone, ie make the same points exactly as he's made them in this video.

People need to understand that government (and really most institutions we rely on) is not only corporate, but has also adopted corporate culture. One aspect of that is to constantly move people through, so they can commit sadistic acts/crimes and keep the focus on individuals. Essentially smoke and mirrors, people to jeer at while they keep up the game of theft they're all involved in. And it is a game to them. Life and death to us, but a game to them.

My personal observation of the people in general, not just in this country but globally is that a major part of the problems we face as a human race is that we are indoctrinated by so many things, both learned and genetic, to nurture, justify and bring about the conditions of our oppression. That is why we elect people based on perceptions of personality, and we do not pay attention to what they actually do. The idea of democracy is to select that which we want, and we tend to forget that people will talk the talk but will not walk the walk. But there are those who have realised that no matter how much you exploit the people or even make it obvious? The robbery and banditry can be renewed in the next cycle because people forget so so easily. It truly frustrates me that if people just took a moment out and really thought about the-reality they were being presented with? they would get it and all problems would be solved. History is a great teacher. And all it took for me was one documentary on youtube about the venetian oligarchs back in the day. And suddenly everything became clear. Those conditions that happened then are being reproduced now. And that vision is truly hellish for the have nots. I could go on but I WONT. you certainly sparked a thought process in my head. so i think i will write a book 😀👌

The problem is fair greater than any one individual- it’s the system and the policies that feed the system. Capitalism needs to work for everyone not just those that own the system. The Cult of Personality is what got Johnson - and Trump - into power. People's fascination with celebrity and the press' pushing of that to the fore makes people look more at the figurehead and takes them away from the policies. It's when it starts to hurt them personally that they are moved to act, be it by voting, marching, strike action etc. So many people still call Johnson 'Boris' because his image was carefully crafted, over many years, to appeal to the public. It meant he could get away with a ton of absolute scandal until people started to realise they were being had and were personally offended, i.e. Partygate. Whether the electorate takes Sunak to its heart in the same way is debatable however. I sense the tide may be turning and that people have had enough of personality in politics. Let's hope so, anyway

I have to say that my husband and I have a pretty decent house, worth about £600k, and I would love to think that we could pass it down to our kids when we die. It’s not the same as what the billionaires are doing though is it? And I think those people who talk about “the politics of envy“ should understand that.
No, it isn't. What the rich do, as Gary explains elsewhere, is buy up assets. So if you leave your house to your kids and they use it as a rental property, or sell it and it becomes a rental property, then at that point I think that comes into the category of what Gary talks about, because that then deprives poorer people of the chance to buy it. (Not that I don't think it would be understandable for you / your kids to do that.)

Our newspapers and media outlets are not saying what you are saying about Rishi and the way he is pushing us all into poverty. They say it is Brexit, or Ukraine or a worldwide problem, but not the governments policies. Please accept the invitations and explain this, oh, and of course one of the newspapers was blaming people on benefits.

I'd like to know how Rishi is creating laws and legislation to enrich himself, i could mention a hand full easily, he is one of the so called rich you mention in every other sentence without ever actually identifying who. If you don't know I think you have very little to say of any substance other than the glaringly obvious which is "The rich, i.e Rishi, are getting richer". whilst stood on a riverside apartment wearing idiotic contrived fingerless gloves to identify with the common man.
What I can’t even begin to understand why when it is so obvious that people like Sunak who are prime examples of everything that is wrong in our society in terms of inequality, why oh why don’t the people come together and demand change. If everyone downed tools and stopped supporting this rubbish 10 minutes later at the very least we would all get a better deal and possibly lay the foundations for a better world. 😊
