I can understand their reaction, because they don't see the continuum of music from their days to the music of today. I've followed all types of music over the years, so I can see how they got to this. If your parents really listened and were interested, they'd see it too -- but they had to spend time working and raising kids, so it's okay if they're not as cool as we are! ;)
I must say, I recommend the album “The Fool” while reading lyrics. It’s my favorite full album of all time. To me, it really shows bladees ability to write lyrics. Lots of themes of death and Gnosticism. I’m sure people recommend 100 different albums daily so whenever you get the time 👍🏻

Bladee is very much a spiritual person, not a follower of any one particular religion, and these themes are found throughout his work. There’s an interview Bladee did with The fader in 2019 that might give you some more context to his work, I very much recommend it. When asked to define his spirituality he’s also said this: ”I’m trying to make it up myself. I take a little bit from things that I’m into, and the whole thing kind of came from the fact that I was able to build these worlds or universes in my music and to create within this kind of universe myself. […] What works for me is just following stuff that is beautiful and inspirational to me. These things that make me excited are what is divine to me, the shiny golden things that make the path you take." (bombmagazine, 2021) I think this lines up with the variety of spiritual, religious and philosophical references he makes in his work.

That smile when Ecco starts saying closer, come closer in, on White Meadow is how i feel EVERY time i hear it. I swear it is impossible not to feel some sort of euphoria while listening to it, it's actually beautiful, no other word for it

to me, the meaning of ”the flag is raised” is either like ”i surrender to god -> the glory is to the throne”. or, like a reference to a line in another bladee song (oh well) where he says ”drain crusade on a mission”; they’re here to sing the gospels -> glory is to the throne. bladee is often talking about ”the promised road”, which i like to think is a references to he Beach Boys song Long Promised Road (the lyrics really remind me of a lot of bladees own song themes). "there is no goal, only to walk the promised road - im coming home" - the promised road being life and all it’s struggles, the choices you make to unveil your path and one day reach home; death, heaven. "here comes that feeling you should never let it go" to me is like, telling you to hold on to those rare experiences of transcendence, those moments when you feel connected to something bigger. or whenever you're feeling that inner sense of inspiration, when you're kinda sensing your true purpose in life.
