love that people didnt recommend the songs individually, feel like it def should be listened to as the full album. (also side note, feel like a lot of the explanations on genuis shouldnt be take literally as its often just someones opinion and not always what the artists meant by it.
u really spit some facts during that tangent after Beverly hills. im 19 and only had limited experience with love but ive had to learn the hard what happens when you give up everything you stand for to someone. really took a toll on me for multiple years of my life and i had to let that person go. at the time I didn't understand why but im coming terms with the fact it was also on me for giving up what was important to me and losing my sense of self. i couldn't even explain it properly to this person and i want to go back but thats not something possible or appropriate anymore. so i need to learn to think about myself and move on. its hard
Ecco was at his best on every song and verse, Bladee also has some of his best verses here with only one or two duds, Thaiboy does his thing for most of the record but his Can't Trust verse is easily one of the best he's ever had. The production is solid all throughout with slightly poppy cloud rap beats but with an alienating medieval cave atmosphere which fits all (but Thaiboy and Yung Lean's) lyrics perfectly. Speaking of the lyrics, they're one of Drain Gang's finest with a modern 2010s take on mercurial evolian solitude that would later evolve into what we saw on Bladee's Red Light just a year later which would focus more on astrological spiritualism. Overall I'm feeling a very strong 8 on this project, certainly overlooked by a vast amount of Drain Gang's audience.
enjoyed the reaction, one of my favorite projects with them all together. and thank u for elaborating with your past and experiences, not a lot of reaction channels would do that. ty
the snake lines off Black Boy are in reference to childhood trauma, which is a prevailing theme of the song. Killing the snakes before they "escape" means to resolve your trauma and avoid spending your entire life allowing it to cripple you.
i’m currently at the time stamp of you reviewing bladee’s song numb/beverly hills. you should review bladee’s newer music. he doesn’t feel like that anymore. his newer music is a lot happier and very silly!
speaking of the movie soundtrack like production you talk about early, FELL by varg and bladee is way up that alley. I think a lot of Varg is like that, but I'm only really familiar with the DG collabs
the thing about their genius annotations is that they will associate the lyrics to EVERYTHING and say "its a reference to bla bla bla", it could even just be a singular word thats been used in a different song and they'll say its a reference to that song its so dumb
great reaction, i love your videos. i love how you show an interest in this type of music and how you like to explore something new. i love seeing you point out things i didn’t notice. love your reactions
Love how you are trying to underatand each track and every line of lyrics, but believe me, Bladee's and Yung Lean's lyrics don't make any sense in majority of their songs. They just put random words that sound good to them in English and rhyme, as they are not native speakers. Maybe 20-30% of their lyrics make sense, the rest is just pure abstract and cryptic shit and I love it.
i love how you always disagree with annotations people write on the genius page. they all have a "i am very smart" and dare i say pretentious sound to them which is funny.
I have to disagree with your interpretation of Dumpster Baby. While it's pretty self deprecating as you mention, I not sure he's putting her on a pedastal. Sure, he's aggressivly attached to her and cannot stop thinking about her but lines like "dress me up but you don't pick me up" show he's well aware he's being neglected. That line in particular makes me think he feels as if his partner is toting him around for who he is, but doesn't show him true love behind the scenes. Other songs like FrostyTheSnowman have this recurring theme. Great video regardless!!
papa squat i dont think u understand every time im having a bad day and u upload an drain gang album reaction my day instantly is top tier.
This is so true. I like to play his videos while I do work lol
That's really great to hear! When I do these long videos, I never know if anyone has the patience to listen all the way through.
@@papasquat08 i watched most of the bladee full album reactions multiple times actually 🥵
@@BaBaBoBBa SAME LOL
@@papasquat08 sometimes I can’t watch it all at once but I always finish it within the day
this is my favorite drain album. i like how dark and depressing it sounds. the beats are insane.
so true
not my FAVORITE but by far the most underrated project
Agree 100% its my favorite too. Every time the song "No life left" ends, I think "wow that was a good song"
I agree, whitearmors production never disappoints, he creates such a somber and desolate atmosphere.
everytime you drop an album reaction like this, man, you dont even know how much it makes my day better
"Black sky cries" "What the fuck does that mean its awesome" I love your content man your amazing :D
4:33 if you want more whitearmor beautiful tracks, listen to his album “in the abyss: music for weddings”
i second this
third this

He’s good about not letting genius annotations away his perspective

i think when he says battery pack he means weed (a pound of weed is a pack). dont know what the relevance of the battery part is but it sounds cool
Ah, I've never heard the "pack" term before. Cool. Thank you!
I think he just said it because it tastes like acid
my favourite album
Great video happy it didn’t get blocked lol
Me too. I hoped it was old enough that it wouldn't get caught in that mess and it looks like I was right!
