TD is kind of a fun story, i guess - but let's do be mindful of who NYG have beaten in this very small sample of a run: NE - likely owner of 2nd pick in the draft and a true shambles on Offense, WAS - another top 5 or top 10 drafting team in April full of lame ducks who are playing out the string, and GB - the only win of any note as they had been hot, but that one felt pretty flukey (any given Sunday and all that). every year a few bad teams string together some wins behind a backup QB with whom their opponents are unfamiliar. DeVito could be an average-to-solid backup, which is most likely more than most would have assumed - but that is probably the ceiling.

All great points. I do personally think the Tommy DeVito story is incredibly fun, and I’m just a sucker for backups stringing together wins (I obsessed over Mike White after that Bengals game for way too long lol).
But yeah, the opponents were something I didn’t mention enough - the 3 wins came against 2 lame ducks and a volatile Packers team.

@@footballdoesntmatter Mike White is probably a pretty good comp in terms of career trajectory. And I defo agree that a good scrub-to-stud backup story is always fun. Thanks for posting, my friend. Legacy NFL media is pretty crap-tastic these days IMO. I greatly enjoy your content and all subbed up. Keep up the great work! Cheers.

He didn't beat Green Bay, he beat Joe Barry. A guy who should have been swept away by the same wave that got rid of Matt Canada.
